1 Innovtive nd pplied reserch on big dt pltforms of smrt heritge J. Qiu, J. Li, H. Sun * qiujie@thid.cn lijijun@thid.cn sunhuijio@thid.cn KEY WORDS: Smrt heritge, Big dt, Explntion ABSTRACT: Big dt hs huge commercil vlue nd potentil. Under the bckground of big dt, heritge site is fced with number of questions nd chllenges such s, how to ccelerte industril innovtion, benign competition nd the cretion of new business vlue. Bsed on the nlysis of service dt from the ntionl rcheologicl site nd prk, Yun Ming Yun, this pper investigtes the common problems of site mngement opertions such s, inpproprite culturl interprettion, insufficient consumer demnd nd so on. In order to solve these opertionl problems, new service system clled the "one pltform - three systems" ws put forwrd. This system includes the smrt heritge pltform nd three mngement systems: the smrt heritge mngement system, the 3-O (Online-Offline-Onsite) service system nd the digitl explntion system. Combined with the 3-O mrketing opertion, the pltform cn relize bidirectionl interction between heritge site mngement units nd tourists, which cn lso benefit visitors to the heritge site by explining the culture nd history of the heritge site, bring bout more demnd for culturl informtion nd expnd the socil nd economic benefits. * Corresponding uthor doi: /isprsnnls-ii-5-w

2 1. TRAVEL SERVICE STATUS UNDER THE BACKGROUND OF BIG DATA 1.1 The impliction of big dt With, Informtion nd dt tht governments, enterprises, other socil orgniztions nd individuls re producing hs exponentilly exploded due to the development of the Internet, cloud computing nd Internet technology. The IDC (Internet Dt Center) predicts tht by 2020 the world will hve 35 ZB of dt (1 ZB = 1 billion TB or 1 trillion G), which is 44 times more thn This huge mount of dt is referred to s "big dt" nd this much dt is difficult for people to cpture nd mnge in resonble time. Big dt technologies hve high informtion predictbility nd cn ccurtely nlyze the correltion between dt through the nlysis of dt filtering. 1.2 Digitl museum construction brod With the dvent of the er of big dt nd expnding digitiztion, there is greter importnce to the construction of digitl museums both t home nd brod. In Americ, for exmple, the museum's collection, exhibition, nd eduction work is tken s the continution of culture nd its eventul spred. Digitl museums hve the chrcteristics of being both convenient nd efficient nd cn relize more communiction nd shring of resources with the public. Therefore, the digitl museum is highly vlued. A questionnire from the gllery directors ssocition (tble 1) shows tht out of the top 10 museums, 7 museums hve higher number of Internet users, which is more thn the number of visitors coming to the museum. The higher network ccess reflected in huge profits for the museum. The museum of modern rt in New York in 2007 hd network turnover tht reched $5.343 million. This not only reflects the gret importnce tht Americns ttch to the construction of digitl museum, but lso reflects on the profound significnce tht digitl museums bring. The success of the digitl museum in Americ hs gret significnce to Chin's powerful nd lrgescle museums. 1.3 The current sitution of domestic heritge sites in Chin The dvent of the er of big dt brings new opportunities nd chllenges to heritge sites. Big dt hs huge commercil vlue, especilly in the spect of ppliction. However, the current domestic heritge site development in digitl tourism cnnot meet the demnd of the mrket. Most heritge site tourism service modes re still the trditionl disply of ruins nd print medi commentry, which is difficult to relize the culturl tour service innovtion. Digitl tourism development of the ntionl rcheologicl site nd prk,yun Ming Yun, is slow. Although it hs n officil website nd officil blog pltform, the services it provides is minly to push news, rther thn to shre communiction. Tourists cn only pssively ccept informtion nd re unble to prticipte or interct. Reserch shows tht tourists generlly believe tht Yun Ming Yun needs to improve its service level (figure 1). Tourists hope to understnd the Yun Ming Yun pnorm (32.89%), historicl beuty (25.5%), introduction to its history(23.49%) nd legend (15.77%). However, t present the trditionl disply form of interprettion cn not meet the culturl tour demnds of tourists. Figure 1: Visitors expecttions when touring Yun Ming Yun In ddition, becuse the existing historicl interprettion of Yun Ming Yun is not comprehensive, most tourists perception of the Yun Ming Yun is inccurte. More thn 95% of Yun Ming Yun is ruins, so it is very difficult for tourists to understnd its culture nd history only visully. Consequently, nerly 92% of visitors think tht Yun Ming Yun needs to provide mobile nvigtion systems (figure 2). Figure 2: Tourists demnd for mobile nvigtion system Figure 3: Viewing time of Yun Ming Yun Prk by visitors Tble 1: Online vs. Site visits to the top 10 Americn museums in 2007 doi: /isprsnnls-ii-5-w

3 About 67% of tourists who visit Yun Ming Yun spend bout 2 to 3 hours t the site nd bout 27% of tourists spend 3 to 5 hours t the site (figure 3). However, longer visiting times did not increse the relted culturl consumption. The verge consumption level of tourists in Yun Ming Yun is only 40 Yun nd this low level of consumption proves tht the heritge site hs lck of culturl consumption demnd by visitors. With the improvement of people's living stndrd, people re now beginning to show pressing need for culturl tours nd thus heritge site tourism presents rising trend. Both ntionl nd locl reform in Chin of the locl culture re put forwrd to expnd the pproches of trnsmitting culturl heritge nd to properly hndle the reltionship between inheritnce, development, protection nd utiliztion in order to promote the combintion of culturl heritge resources nd the mrket s well s to promote culturl heritge informtion resources, digitl resource development nd utiliztion, nd promote the exhibition of Chinese civiliztion. As result, under the bckground of big dt, using the Internet, the Internet of Things, nd modern technology for economic development of culturl heritge sites hs very brod mrket. In the er of big dt new chllenge which heritge site hs to fce is how to ccelerte industril innovtion, form benign competition mode nd crete commercil vlue. 2. ONE PLATFORM-THREE SYSTEMS BASED ON BIG DATA OF HERITAGE SITES Big dt mngement of smrt heritge public service pltforms is lso pplicble to ll kinds of industries. It contins n bundnce of mterils such s pictures; chrcters; digitl models; sound; video of the heritge site nd dtes from eril photos; survey informtion nd drwings; 3D lser scns; nd other mteril. Through the mngement nd nlysis of the dt, scenic mngement, 3-O (online-offline-onsite) service nd digitl explntion cn be cquired. The pltform nd systems constitute complete service circle of the scenic spot. It connects the heritge site, service, mngers nd tourists together thus forming the system of digitl culture tourism. Figure 5:UVAs collect site informtion with high ccurtely Figure 6: Sensing nd monitoring informtion to chieve rel-time control (2) Collecting informtion through user's feedbck, which comes from digitl nvigtion equipment, mobile phones nd so on. Lots of dt such s trvel time, trvel route, consumer preferences, trvel demnd, nd so on cn be collected nd fed bck to bckstge dtbses, which cn help excvte demnd of tourists nd improve business income of heritge sites (figure 7). Figure 7: Digitl nvigtion equipment collects tourist informtion nd feeds it bck to bckstge dtbses Figure 4: One pltform-three systems The One pltform-three systems includes three levels: the collection level, pltform level nd ppliction level (figure 4). The sources of the collection level minly include the following spects: (1) Collecting informtion through surveying nd mpping, sensing nd so on. One cn use dvnced digitl tools such s UAVs (unmnned eril vehicles) nd 3D lser scnners to collect informtion t the heritge site (figure 5). Additionlly, one cn use sensing to monitor pssenger flow volume, temperture, reltive humidity, nd so on of the site in order to dequtely protect the heritge site nd improve the stisfction of tourists (figure 6). Besides informtion gthered from the site, there is lots of dt from government mngement gencies, culturl relics protection units nd so on. All the dt will be collected in the smrt heritge pltform nd service smrt heritge mngement systems 3-O service systems nd digitl explntion systems, which cn be ccomplished using ccurte cquisition, mngement nd smrt nlysis. The Smrt scenic system is designed for mngers. Through this system, they cn control temperture, humidity nd popultion density of the scenic spot by supervising nd setting of devices; the system is lso complint for emergencies nd protection of relics. The estblishment nd stble opertion of this system will improve the conditions of culturl relics protection s well s the bsic stisfction of tourist services nd the sfety level of the scenic spot. The Digitl explntion system is culture disply pltform for the scenic spot. It forms the direct connection between the scenic spot nd the tourist nd expnds the exhibition form giving n dditionl consumption medium besides the relics. Bsed on in-depth historicl reserch in combintion with doi: /isprsnnls-ii-5-w

4 science nd technology will the fetures of the scenic re s well s its history nd culture; the building fetures; construction technology; nd other informtion tht the tourist might be interested in. It lso enbles visitors to fully understnd the culture nd beuty of the scenic re nd highlights the significnce of ptriotism. The 3-O service system cn be used for experientil ctivities include digitl performnce, udio guides, eduction nd other progrms. This system integrtes the experiences, feelings nd online communictions nd enhnces the diversified services; t the sme time, it cn improve the qulity nd influence of the heritge spot. 3. INNOVATION AND APPLICATION OF INTELLECTUAL HERITAGE BASED ON BIG DATA PLATFORM Big dt of smrt heritge public service pltforms contins mss of rel-time mngement dtes, bsic informtion of the heritge site, s well s culturl informtion, tourist informtion nd consumption informtion. The smrt heritge informtion cn be utilized for further nlysis nd processing, nd cn be trnslted to vluble dt for decision mking s well s trnsformed into ll kinds of digitl pplictions. 3.1 Innovtion nd ppliction of heritge protection In the trditionl mngement system of the scenic spot, we usully define the monitoring nd protection functions s the min body, using fixed monitoring equipment nd monitoring centers in this wy. But the monitoring function cn be extended to more elborte mngement spces with the linkge of digitl explntion systems nd mngement systems using terminls between tourists nd mngers. In this wy, lrm nd emergency systems cn lso be complete nd this will gretly improve the service level nd protection mngement of the heritge site. 3.2 Innovtion nd ppliction on heritge interprettion Bsed on the trditionl centrlized nd decentrlized digitl disply model, we cn strengthen the linkge of design nd consumption, which cn trnslte to more lloction of culturl resources, nd improve the disply content nd service through the nlysis of visitor behvior from dt collection. For exmple, through the nlysis of the behvior chrcteristics of tourists consumption, we cn find the key point of culturl in public recognition, nd ssist in functionl design through regionl consumption behvior nlysis of tourists. This model will help tourists to relize the disply nd culture of the heritge site, nd lso enhnce the ssocition mechnism of benign mrkets nd services. 3.3 Innovtion nd ppliction on culturl consumption Bsed on the estblishment of the 3-O service system, the service of Online Offline Onsite will be more dynmic. Regrding onsite, consumer s experience will be promoted, which cn lso dvnce online nd offline consumption, build brnd influence nd expnd digitl exhibition forms nd culturl consumption. The system expnds the limittions of trditionl nd single site re consumption, including experientil nd online ctivities. Tourists cn lso enjoy consumption by viewing medi on the website, which in turn cn gretly improve the comprehensive qulity nd influence of heritge services, bring huge economic growth to the compny. Figure 8: 3-O service model digrm 4. INNOVATIVE APPLICATION VALUE OF SMART HERITAGE 4.1 Improve the utiliztion rte of dt resources Using big dt, rich lyers of informtion cn be built. This includes items such s mpping, sensing nd wireless informtion. Informtion cn not only be cquired from mngers, but lso from feedbck nd dt informtion records from users. Ech informtion point cn precisely collect detiled bsic informtion nd dynmiclly mnge nd nlyze informtion on the smrt heritge public service pltform by using huge mounts of complex dt units to cquire knowledge nd insight nd improve the growth of culture heritge. The technicl process of getting the unknown, potentil nd solvble rules from big dt is lso through the recycling nd sublimtion process of culture heritge. 4.2 Meet the culturl tour demnds of tourists Heritge is not only technicl smrts, but lso humnities smrts. This requires the building of smrt heritge nd the need to focus on people nd service people, not only s the objects of intellectul legcy, but lso s the min body who crete smrt heritge. Bsed on the smrt heritge public service pltform, the Smrt heritge mngement system, the 3-O service system nd the digitl disply system, which ims to respond in timely fshion, to effectively tret people with friendly service, cn thus rise the level of digitl tourism services through ugmented relity experiences, improve the comprehensive service qulity of culturl heritge sites, nd bring long-term socil benefits s well s huge economic benefits. 5. CONCLUSION The ppliction of smrt heritge public service pltforms on big dt mixes the digitl disply system, the 3-O service system nd the smrt mngement system together, forming scientific service system, by which tourists cn understnd the culture, legends, nd history of scenic spot, through strong physiclly linked network. Tourists cn see more lost heritge sites lndscpe t by utilizing digitl pplictions nd interprettion systems. They cn lso prticipte in vriety of culturl experiences, which increse online the consumption, trnsporttion booking nd other functions. By using the 3-O service system, visitors cn esily chieve their trvel, consumption nd study needs, nd lso shre their experiences nd suggestions with ech other, s well s hve the opportunity to prticipte in the mngement nd construction of scenic spots thereby becoming the direct legcy of the culture mrket nd help to spred nd inherit culturl heritge. doi: /isprsnnls-ii-5-w
