The leglly inding text which regultes the different versions of the curriculum is ville in Germn in the pertinent University of Innsruck Bulletins ( Curriculum for the Bchelor Progrm in Mngement nd Economics t the University of Innsruck School of Mngement nd Fculty of Economics nd Sttistics of the University of Innsruck 1 Qulifiction profile nd Progrm ojectives (1) The Bchelor Progrm in Mngement nd Economics forms prt of the group of studies in the socil nd economic sciences. (2) The Bchelor Progrm in Mngement nd Economics cn e completed with one of the following fields of speciliztion ["mjors"]: "mngement" or "economics". (3) The Bchelor Progrm in Mngement nd Economics ims t intensive creer preprtion in the socil nd economic sciences nd qulifies students for creers which require the ppliction of well-founded, scientific knowledge nd methods. As scientific progrm, it essentilly covers theories, methods nd instruments of mngement nd economics. Findings from the field of gender reserch re lso tken into considertion. (4) In ddition to suject-specific competences, the courses of the Bchelor Progrm in Mngement nd Economics lso promote generl socil skills. (5) The eductionl ojective of the Bchelor Progrm is to enle its grdutes to develop prolem-solving competences tht re scientificlly sound nd well-grounded in theories nd methods. These prolem-solving competences should enle them to work on typicl issues of their future occuptionl fields in scientificlly sound nd prcticlly relevnt mnner. As cdemiclly trined experts in the economic sciences they will hve rod rnge of qulifictions nd thus will e le to work in diverse occuptionl fields. (6) In prticulr, the Bchelor Progrm in Mngement nd Economics prepres students for creers s mngers, plnners, nlysts, nd consultnts in enterprises of different sizes nd in different res. This includes creers s freelncers, in pulic dministrtions, ssocitions, chmers, specil interest groups nd the medi s well s in teching nd reserch institutions. (7) Grdutes of the Bchelor Progrm in Mngement nd Economics with the mjor in mngement should hve cquired solid knowledge of mngement methods nd instruments; they should e le to employ this knowledge when ssuming professionl mngeril responsiilities in the orgniztions referred to in point (6) nd to identify nd resolve issues in n independent mnner; e le to systemticlly pply, interpret nd utilize empiricl dt nd therey to provide nswers to prcticl questions; hve the competence to reflect on the socil nd ethicl implictions of their mngeril ctions; nd

2 hve worked with the suject mtter nd developed the methodicl know-how nd competences necessry to dequtely understnd new scientific findings in mngement nd to pursue mster progrm. (8) Grdutes of the Bchelor Progrm in Mngement nd Economics with the mjor in economics should e le to employ expert economic knowledge nd methods in the specific occuptionl fields referred to in Point (6) in scientificlly sound nd prcticlly relevnt mnner; e le to recognize, nlyze nd provide solutions for economic issues; hve the competence to reserch, nlyze, nd interpret empiricl dt relevnt for coping with economic issues; hve worked with the suject mtter nd developed the methodicl competences necessry to dequtely understnd new scientific findings in economics nd to pursue mster progrm. 2 Worklod nd durtion of the Progrm (1) The Bchelor Progrm in Mngement nd Economics is the equivlent of 180 ; this corresponds to Progrm durtion of six semesters. (2) The Progrm is orgnized in the form of courses. (3) Students choose one of the following fields of speciliztion ("mjors"): mngement or economics. They need to choose one of the two options no lter thn fter the successful completion of three of the four courses "Fundmentls of Mngements referred to in 6 (2) s well s two of the three courses from the core re of economics referred to in 6 (3). They must inform the Den of Studies of their choice in writing. 3 s (1) A course constitutes themtic nd equls 7.5. (2) All courses consist of two course s, one of which is course with continuing performnce ssessment. The following courses re exceptions to this rule: "Introduction to Mngement" referred to in 6 (1), "Introduction to Economics" referred to in 6 (2), "Foreign Business Lnguge" referred to in 6 (4-1) nd "Sociologicl Perspectives nd Approches" s well s "Fundmentls of Politicl Science" referred to in 7 (4-1 nd 4-2) nd 8 (4-1 nd 4-2). (3) The Progrm comprises mndtory nd elective course. 4 Types of course s nd numer of prticipnts (1) s without continuing performnce ssessment: 1. Lectures (VO) re scientific presenttions tht provide n introduction to suject mtter or cover, discuss nd explin reserch topics, questions, s well s methods nd introduce new reserch findings. 2. Orienttion courses (SL) im to provide the students with n outline of essentil elements of the Progrm nd its susequent courses of study; they lso im to provide students with solid sis on which to mke personl decisions concerning their choice of study progrm. Attendnce is mndtory. The mximum numer of prticipnts is 160. (2) s with continuing performnce ssessment re:

3 1. Proseminrs (PS): Proseminrs cover the fundmentls of scientific work, give n introduction to the literture nd stte of the rt in the field, nd discuss exmples from the field. The mximum numer of prticipnts is Seminrs (SE): Seminrs focus on detiled scientific discussions. Prticipnts re expected to mke orl nd/or written contriutions. The mximum numer of prticipnts is Tutorils (UE): In tutorils, students cquire ppliction-oriented competences nd work on prcticl cses. The mximum numer of prticipnts is Lectures comined with tutoril (VU): A lecture comined with tutoril is the comintion of lecture prt nd the corresponding tutoril prt. The mximum numer of prticipnts is Business lnguge courses (WL): In usiness lnguge courses, students ecome immersed in nd intensively trin their communiction skills in foreign usiness lnguge. The courses focus on communiction mong nd with the students. The mximum numer of prticipnts is Admission to course s with limited numer of prticipnts (1) In course s with mximum numer of prticipnts, plces re llocted sed on the following procedure: 1. At the eginning of the registrtion period for course s of given semester, ech student receives 1,000 points twice. At the end of the registrtion period for certin semester, unused points expire. 2. Students use s mny points s they wnt from the first ccount of 1,000 points to id for course s which they wnt to enroll in; this wy, they express their course preferences for the 1 st enrolment round. 3. Students use s mny points s they wnt from the second ccount of 1,000 points to id for course s which they wnt to enroll in; this wy, they express their course preferences for the 2 nd enrolment round. 4. Depending on how mny points from the first ccount re used to id for certin course s, students receive up to four courses, provided they fulfill the dmission requirements. 5. Depending on how mny points from the second ccount re used to id for certin course s, students receive courses which hve not een llocted ccording to Points 2 nd 4 ove. Agin, students hve to fulfill the respective dmission requirements. 6. The totl numer of course s ssigned ccording to Points 1-5 ove my not exceed the numer of courses necessry in given semester (30 ). 7. A lottery system is used to llocte course s still ville fter the course lloction descried in points 1-5 ove to those students who hve received fewer courses thn necessry in given semester (30 ). 8. Through the procedures descried in Points 1-7 ove, ll students re ssigned exctly the numer of course s necessry for the Progrm in ny given semester (30 ).
