1 APPEL Program: Praxis Exams and Cut Scores for 2014 CORE Exams Required for Entry into APPEL Program All APPEL applicants are required to take and pass all three of the CORE (5712, 5722, 5732) exams. The only exceptions are those who meet the qualifications to substitute another score in place of these exams (see below for details). If an applicant has taken the Praxis I: PPST prior to October 1, 2013 please see the NOTE below. Computer-based testing (CBT) registration is made by appointment at over 300 Prometric test sites throughout the United States. To schedule an appointment: Go online to and register for a computer delivered exam. NOTE: *On September 1, 2013, the Praxis I: PPST exams changed to the CORE exams listed above. If a candidate passed all three or any one of the previously required PPST (Reading 0710, Writing 0720 or Math 0730) BEFORE September 1, 2013 those scores will be accepted for entry into the 2014 APPEL Program. Candidates that passed only one or two parts of PPST prior to September 1, 2013 MUST take the new CORE exam for the exam(s) not passed prior to the test change. Alternatives to CORE Exams-Required upon Entry into APPEL Program The following exams may be substituted for CORE if all conditions are met. The substitute exam is acceptable only if the candidate holds a Master s Degree (or higher) and meets the listed Arkansas cut score(s) upon making application to the program. Documentation must be available in the form of an official score report, an official college/university transcript, or by submitting an official letter from the college/university graduate office verifying the scores. Test Name Passing Score GRE Verbal score 370 GRE Quantitative score 370 GRE Analytical Writing score 3.5 GRE Verbal score (if taken 2012 or after) 142 GRE Quantitative score (if taken 2012 or after) 142 GRE Analytical Writing score (if taken 2012 or after) 3.5 GRE Cumulative Score, all parts added together (if taken before 2000) 1000 If the applicant took the exam on or after 2000 and does not meet ALL of the three required scores (V, Q, AW), the entire battery of CORE exams must be taken and passed.
2 The following exams are also accepted in lieu of the CORE exams but only if the candidate holds a Master s degree (or higher) upon making application to the program.
