3 Program Requirements Continuous assessment procedures will be used to document and systematically monitor student progress through the education program in order to determine the degree to which students have internalized and can demonstrate proficiency in the Kentucky Teacher Standards. The eligibility portfolio will be assessed during the student teaching semester. Check Points are designed to facilitate student progress through the education program, provide students with information for completion of the portfolio at designated stages and serve as a means for making recommendations for improvement or remediation when needed, to be reviewed at the next check point. Grade Point Average Student s grade point averages are assessed at three checkpoints: a) admission to teacher education GPA overall (see requirements on p. 3) b) admission to student teaching 2.45 GPA overall, 2.45 GPA academic specialization, and 2.45 GPA in professional coursework c) exit from program 2.45 GPA overall PRAXIS and PLT Examinations To earn a TC-1 Letter of Certification, students must successfully complete two national exams demonstrating their content and pedagogical knowledge. a) Praxis Test 1- Elementary Education: Content Knowledge (#0014) - Score > 148 b) Praxis Test 2: Principles of Learning and Teaching: Grades K-6 (#0522) Score > 161 NOTE: Teacher certification requirements are subject to change.
