1 Issuance of an Additional Endorsement Based on Content Proficiency (Praxis) WVBE Policy Information Sheet Additional Endorsement(s) for Existing License. Effective July 14, An individual who already holds a valid West Virginia Professional Certificate may add an additional area of certification upon submission of a passing score on the appropriate content area test (Praxis) required of other teachers or administrators for certification in that area as stated in WVBE Policy 5202, Appendix B, at the time of application, regardless of whether additional course work was completed for this endorsement area. If no test is required, the professional educator must complete an approved program to add an endorsement. In order to add a teaching endorsement, an educator must hold a Professional Teaching Certificate. To add an administrative endorsement, an educator must hold a Professional Administrative License. Eligible applicants must submit a Form 8C and the appropriate processing fee to apply using this option. In order to add a special education endorsement(s), applicants must also meet WVBE Policy 5100 requirements (Section 12.3.d). For the K-6 programmatic level, applicants must also hold or simultaneously be eligible to request an Elementary Education K-6 endorsement. For the 5-Adult programmatic level, applicants must also hold or simultaneously be eligible to request a secondary core content or a Restricted Content Endorsement (Form 26) for Special Education. To expedite processing of Form 8C, please submit a copy of the passing Praxis II(s). The following are not eligible under this option: Substitution of NES content Tests (section 10.1.b.3.J) Exemptions through NBPTS certification, content tests required by other states, valid out of state licenses, or doctorate degrees as listed under section10.1.b.3.f.2 Waivers of any kind (sections 7.1.c.4, 14) **If an applicant holds a valid secondary level WV Professional Teaching Certificate only, s(he) must also pass the Teaching Reading Elementary Education (5203) and the appropriate Praxis II exams to add Elementary Education K 6.
