Recommended by Professional organization for those with an MS in CSD: 1) Certificate of Clinical Competence (which assumes passing of the Praxis, and Clinical Fellowship Year or CFY),2) state licensure (which also assumes passing of the state exam); and 3) accrual of Continuing Education Units to maintain certification and licensure.

3 Counselor Education Principal Applicants must submit official GRE general test scores (no more than five years old); 3.0 cumulative undergraduate GPA or 3.25 for the last two years. (Applicants who have earned a cumulative GPA of 2.75 to 2.99 may petition to be admitted for full admission after completing nine graduate hours as a special student. These courses may be taken from any of the following courses: CN 540, CN 541, CN 545, CN 551, CN 552, CN 554 or EIS 500.) Applicants must earn a cumulative GPA of 3.25 during this period of special admission in order to screen for admission. Interview with department faculty; Submit references; Submit essay. Bachelor's degree; 3.0 GPA; teacher certificate; professional recommendations; successful structured interview responses; writing sample; successful completion of EDL 500 or EDL 505, positive recommendation from instructors, positive vote of Graduate Committee Meet prerequisites: Grade of A or B in the following courses: CN 500, CN 547, CN 548 and CN 581. Minimum 2.75 undergraduate GPA; Verbal and Quantitative GRE Upon successful completion of the required sequence of courses and passing the state test for the superintendent's endorsement, students receive a provisional Type 26 Superintendent s endorsement for use during their internship. The Type 26 certificate must be activated and held for one year. Completion of 24 s.h., including RDG 568 or RDG 570, RDG 571, RDG 573, and RDG 587 or RDG 589 Entrance to practicums: Background checks, admission to the program; enrollment in Reflection Papers, Artifacts, Job Shadowing, Clinical Supervision Episodes; Intern Post-Internship Self- Assessment; portfolio artifacts a C or higher grade Exit from practicums: Completion of required case studies; Upon successful required one-year internship under the Type 26 certificate and recommendation; Students receive a permanent Type 77 Superintendent s endorsement Completion of 33 s.h., courses and capstone course Completion of four required case studies: Completion of a research None Periodic surveys of graduates

5 Technology Specialist average score of 500 or 50%; 15 semester hours of psychology coursework from an accredited institution including work in each of the following three areas: introductory psychology, statistics/experimental psychology, and learning/cognitive psychology; Letters of recommendation; Personal goal essay. Teaching certificate, Undergraduate GPA of at least 2.75; Accepted by the Graduate Committee; Successful completion of Teacher Technology Skills in the Classroom Survey (Unsuccessful candidates will be required to provide additional evidence of their competency with the standards or to gain the required skills by taking IDT 504 Technological Applications for the Classroom Teacher or another method of training, such as professional development workshops or online tutorials) sequence of Practicum courses (PSY 541,542, 543, 544) each semester that students are enrolled on campus along with required other courses. Entrance to internship: Successful completion of at least 54 hours of coursework. Maintain at least a 3.0 GPA and their Illinois teaching certificate; Complete at least 15 hours of specific required coursework; Show evidence of the knowledge and skills for a technology specialist through artifacts and assignments; Successfully complete the first checkpoint of the Disposition Inventory Checkpoint. Satisfactory completion of all coursework - No more than 9 semester hours of C out of the 66 total hours of credit can be earned. Exit from Internship: Passing score for the portfolio for each of the I1 domains of training; Positive ratings by internship supervisor. Successful completion of IDT 595 requirements project or thesis; Complete the Illinois State Certification Exam and submit scores. Complete the Technology Specialist Standards portfolio; Complete the second Disposition Inventory Checkpoint; Complete the Graduate Exit Survey; Complete the Assessment of Professional Teaching Skills Test (Special, K- 12); Complete the ICTS Basic Skills Test (within the last five years); Complete all degree requirements. Surveys of graduates who are two and five years out of the program.
