He has also taught at Palomar College and the University of San Diego. He received his B.A. and M.A. degrees at San Diego State University after graduation from Palomar College. He holds an M.F.A. from UC Irvine.) 9.30 to Alan Lechuza Aquallo Topic: The Global Politics of Native Hip Hop Room: Governing Board Room (SSC-1) (Alan Lechuza Aquallo is Assistant Professor of Native American Studies at Palomar College. He has an M.F.A. from UC Irvine, and PhD in Music from UCSD. Professor Aquallo has written and published over twenty articles and essays, as well as taught and conducted seminars & workshops at over twenty colleges and universities, including UCSD, UC Berkeley and the Chopin Conservatory of Music in Warsaw, Poland. He is a well-known Native-American composer of several pieces of music from a wide-variety of musical genres.) to Badi Badiozamani Topic: U.S.-Iranian Relations and the Impact of the Green Movement (Badi Badiozamani holds an MPA and a PhD in Political Science. He is a nationally imminent expert on U.S.-Iranian relations, Iranian domestic politics, as well as the Iranian democracy movement. Dr. Badiozamani has served as an advisor to CNN s Iran Desk. A nationally recognized expert on Japanese politics, U.S.-Japanese relations and international political economy, Professor Krause is the author, or coauthor, of numerous books and peer-reviewed journal articles.) to 1.50 Jeff Lindstrom Topic: A Democratic Mental Model: Predicting Efficacy Towards Democracy in Russia (Jeff Lindstrom is Adjunct Professor of Economics and History at Palomar College. He holds a PhD in economics and an AbD in political science. He is a specialist in Russian politics, economic policy and political economy. Thursday, April 8th 8.00 to 9.15 Wendy Kinsinger Topic: Conversations in Celebrations: Cinco de Mayo and Emerging Mexican American Identity in Texas (Wendy Kinsinger is Adjunct Professor of History at Palomar and several other community colleges. Professor Kinsinger's field of study is cultural and social history, with an emphasis on Mexican American history. She won the Summerfield Roberts Fellowship in Texas History for her research on Cinco de Mayo. She has a B.A. in history from San Diego State University, an M.A. in history from Southern Methodist University, and she has done postgraduate work at U.C.S.D.) 9.30 to Rosco Williamson Topic: Global Terrorism as a Network: What Does this Mean and How do We Fight it? (Rosco Williamson is Professor of Political Science at Point Loma Nazarene University. He holds a Ph.D in Political Science from UCSD and an M.A. in History from San Diego State University. He is a specialist in international relations, political theory and comparative politics.) 9.30 to Lezlie-Lee French & Judith Downie Topic: Undergraduate Research: Digging up a Brighter Future (Lezlie Lee-French is a History and Women s Studies double major at California State University San Marcos. She is active in Phi Alpha Theta, the History Honor Society as well as Triota, the Women's Studies Honor Society. Ms. Lee-French was the corecipient of the 2008 Palomar College Department of Economics, 3

In 2009, She was awarded the top score at the Phi Alpha Theta Southern California Regional Conference for her research paper "Hoe, Pick, and Sow: The Women's Land Army Working Down on the Farm." She was subsequently invited to present her paper at the American Historical Association - Pacific Coast Branch Conference in August Ms. Lee-French is currently part of a collaborative undergraduate research project, U.S. Military Violence Against Women, and is the editor of the project web site usmvaw.com. Judith A. Downie is Humanities and Government Documents Librarian at California State University San Marcos. She provides instruction and assistance for research in History, Literature, Visual and Performing Arts, World Languages, and Philosophy. Ms. Downie works with undergraduate and graduate students to enable their goal of educational success. Her research interests focus on government information and its use in a variety of disciplines and applications.) to Maha Gebara Topic: The Middle East Peace Camp: Building Community and Leadership (Maha Gebara is co-founder and co-director of the the Middle East Peace Camp for Children- A summer camp in Seattle Washington that brings Arab and Jewish children and friends together to build community and leadership. She was previously on the board of the Arab Center of Washington. She earned her doctorate in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from Sussex University, U.K, and postdoctoral fellowships at Johns Hopkins University. She taught Biology at Edmonds Community College in Washington.
