Designed and delivered in collaboration with industry professionals, you ll learn the fundamentals of business, economics and finance, key principles of sport marketing and sport management, and core subjects in sport and exercise psychology, sport development and sport policy. The final year includes workshops to develop your employability and a 100-hour work placement, where you ll analyse current practices, apply sport development and management theory, and develop industry connections. Tailor your degree with electives, including public health, management, economics, law, finance, marketing or outdoor education. Graduates have gone on to careers in federal, state and local government, community sport leagues and not-for-profit organisations. This course also prepares you for work in community and international development, and health promotion. Accounting and Finance for Business Business Analytics Learn about the management, presentation and promotion of sport. You ll experience sport-specific business operations by completing a 100-hour work placement, and you ll study economics, accounting and finance, sport management and sport marketing for an understanding of the business structures, culture and performance management that underpin the sporting industry. You ll also investigate the social and economic policies of sport through business law, sport policy, sport media and human resources management studies, before undertaking workshops to enhance your employability. Our students have gone on to become sporting club team managers and account managers. You may also find positions in health and fitness centres, marketing and sponsorship agencies, local government and sport boards, venue management, and athlete management. This course combines environmental experiences and naturalist studies to prepare you for a career in outdoor and environmental education and adventure guiding. You ll take up to 140 days of fieldwork, including a Kosciusko National Park trek or a Murray River canoeing trip. Choose from three majors: outdoor education, environmental and sustainability education, and educational nature tourism. Work as an education officer or instructor in school camps, in environmental centres or the outdoor adventure guiding industry. Our nature tourism major prepares you for careers in national parks, zoos, botanical gardens, and in private nature tourism operations. You can also complete further study to qualify as a school teacher. Combine this course with a graduate entry preservice teacher training program to be accredited and recognised by the Victorian Institute of Teaching (VIT). You ll develop your expertise in a range of outdoor environments and build your confidence through fieldwork in one of two majors. The outdoor recreation major focuses on environmental and social responsibility through leadership and outdoor safety subjects and 160 days of field trip experience. The natural resources education major focuses on ecology and the cultural and natural history of south-eastern Australia, and includes a 50-day field trip. Work as a leader in school camps or environmental centres, as an outdoor education instructor, or as a leader or instructor in the adventure travel industry. If you major in natural resources, you could find a role in land and natural resources management, as a community educator in sustainability and ecology, or in an environmental education centre. You could also work as a ranger or education officer in a national park. You ll be eligible for National Outdoor Leader Registration in areas that correspond with your activity electives. Learn teaching fundamentals then study human body systems, exercise physiology, nutrition and health promotion. A student welfare sub-major will qualify you for welfare positions in schools. You ll gain practical experience in athletics, dance, drama, fitness, gymnastics and sports education and complete 80 days of supervised teaching practice. You ll be eligible for employment in government, Catholic and independent schools in Victoria, and roles in the health industry, and youth, community and health centres. Register with the Victorian Institute of Teaching (VIT). Qualify to teach physical education and outdoor education to secondary school students. Go on field trips to places like the Australian Alps and the Victorian coast and learn about outdoor leadership, safety, bush environments and naturalist subjects. You ll also cover exercise physiology and sports biomechanics and participate in an 80-day supervised teaching placement. You can teach physical education and outdoor and environmental studies to students in Years 7 to 12, or go on to a career in outdoor recreation in outdoor or environmental education centres and youth agencies. Work in public and private health settings and medical research centres. Graduates often find opportunities to work internationally in developing as well as developed countries. Work in hospital patient care, private practice or community health, specialise in managing chronic diseases such as diabetes, cardiovascular disease and cancer, or go into research, food regulation and safety, product development, nutrition promotion or public relations. This program is currently provisionally accredited by the Dietitians Association of Australia (DAA). A graduate of this program is eligible to become a DAA member with dietetic qualifications, and to join the Accredited Practising Dietitian (APD) Program. Learn how to optimise individual performances, how to work with groups such as the elderly, adolescents or athletes undergoing rehabilitation, how to use specialised equipment, and how to change community health behaviours. Graduate ready to develop and monitor training programs for clients including corporate employees, amateur sportspeople, soldiers and elite athletes. You may also work with sporting manufacturers to develop better sporting and gym equipment. This course has been developed to align with the National University Course Accreditation Program (NUCAP) standards of Exercise and Sports Science Australia (ESSA) to train accredited exercise physiologists. Explore how exercise is used to promote health and well-being, including the preventative and rehabilitative benefits of exercise. Undertake at least 500 hours of clinical placement, developing exercise and lifestyle programs for all ages. Work in hospitals or private practice settings, for professional sports teams, rehabilitation providers, or a range of other roles in sport injury prevention, and corporate and community health.
