Outside her clinics in London, she lectures regularly at higher education performing arts institutions in the UK and Spain (Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance, The Institute of Contemporary Music Performance, Institute of the Arts Barcelona) and has few pieces of academic research published (Journal of Clinical Rheumatology, Journal of the British Association of Performing Arts Medicine). She is now engaged with the establishment and management of the new clinic at IAB, aiming to share and expand the Performing Arts Medicine and Science field internationally.

As well training as a pianist, she has worked at the UME physiotherapy unit (Sports Medicine Unit in Vilanova), the ICS (Catalan Institute of Health) and the Science and Art Foundation in Terrassa, where she collaborates as lecturer in Postural Education. She is still working and collaborating for these later two. Currently she is studying a Masters Degree in Orthopaedic Manual Therapy, to continue filling her toolbox with efficient manual techniques. WHEN IS SCREENING? Second week of the First Term Other sessions can be organised for the 2nd and 3rd Term WHAT IS INVOLVED IN SCREENING? 30 minute, one-to-one functional assessment and feedback with our Performing Arts Physiotherapist A report with the significant findings and recommendations for the academic year A studio-based group dance specific fitness test to assess stamina

5 . Dance Science Screening Performing Arts Medicine The Screening and Profiling Service, open to all students at Institute of the Arts Barcelona, is a unique aspect of the student experience. WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF SCREENING? Assess your level of body control and balance Performing artists spend many years training from a young age to achieve extreme levels of skill and artistry and this will inevitably take its toll on the body. Expert advice and support is essential to address the cause of any discomfort or pain and prevent recurrent symptoms causing unnecessary time loss and a decrease in performance quality. Track your training progress and goals Address potential injury risk Awareness of your optimal performance potential Individual one-to-one feedback sessions and a personal report will allow you to apply the latest theories and research findings directly to your personal artistic practice. WHAT IS PERFORMING ARTS MEDICINE? Performing Arts Medicine (PAM) is a field of medicine devoted to the care and support of all performing artists. It has been established internationally for more than 30 years, and it is growing rapidly within all disciplines of healthcare. At IAB Health we are proud to have on board practitioners with an indepth knowledge of the vocabulary and the techniques involved in diverse range of disciplines, as many of the physical symptoms that performing artists encounter will have their roots in the particular postures and techniques related to their discipline. PHYSIOTHERAPY The majority of physical restrictions start with poor control and alignment of the joints, which in turn affects the proper functioning of muscles and nerves. Physiotherapy combines advanced manual techniques with specific exercises to treat the joints and soft tissues, helping you restore normal function, flexibility and control.
