He has worked extensively as a manual therapist in South Africa, New Zealand, and the. He currently works as a Lead Physiotherapist at the Nuffield Health &Wellbeing Centre Nottingham and is an associate lecturer at Manchester Metropolitan University. He lectures world wide on manual therapy, clinical reasoning, sports medicine and altered haemodynamicis. He has also authored a number of papers in peer reviewed journals and a chapter in Grieves Modern Manual Therapy. Roger Kerry graduated from Pinderfields School of Physiotherapy and subsequently gained a Masters of Science degree in Manipulative Therapy (Coventry). He is a member of the MACP and a diplomate of the Cyriax Organisation. Before his current post as Associate Professor in Physiotherapy Education at Nottingham University, Roger worked as an extended scope practitioner in Orthopaedics. His clinical and research interest involve haemodynamics and vascular injury, manual therapy, clinical reasoning, and philosophy of health science. Roger lecturers internationally and is a regular presenter at seminars and conferences on these subjects. He has numerous publications concerning various areas of physiotherapy practice. Course Description This new one-day course presents an evidence-based approach to Whiplash Associated Disorder (WAD) and integrates CSP WAD guidelines with emerging evidence from contemporary literature. The course is specifically designed for manual therapists involved in the assessment and management of WAD. Like our 'Altered Haemodynamics' course, the emphasis is on clinical reasoning, decision making but with the added dimension of management. The course navigates the maze of information available to Manual Therapists in this area and demystifies assessment and management whilst allowing the therapist to use the very best of their own skills within the "guidelines and evidence". There is a significant and unique review of cervical artery dysfunction, including the essential component of cranial nerve testing and its relationship to manual therapy in the management of WAD. The course incorporates advanced rehabilitation for WAD and medico-legal aspects of the approach to treatment and note/report writing. It is suitable for all Manual Therapists who wish to extend and mesh their own skills with the emerging evidence base. Improved clinical reasoning, practical diagnostic and management skills will provide a direct impact on day-to-day clinical practice. The course will provide a systematic approach to assessment and management will provide the foundation for meaningful, successful and safe practice. Course Outline Navigating the maze - guidelines and evidence Vascular assessment if, why and how! Cranial nerve testing if, why and how! Applying your own skills to the current guidelines/evidence Enhancing your own rehab skills Advanced rehabilitation concepts Medico-legal aspects of care and reporting Who can attend It is suitable for all Manual Therapists at all levels who wish to extend and mesh their own skills with the emerging evidence base. Improved clinical reasoning, practical diagnostic and management skills will provide a direct impact on day-to-day clinical practice. Fee: 125 by cheque or online, payable to Health Education Seminars (includes refreshments, course manual and CPD certificate of attendance - 7.5hrs).
