FCC rules for unattended operation of LPFM stations require that all installations have a tamper-proof monitoring and control system that allows the transmitter to be turned-off within a short time in case it malfunctions and causes interference to other services. The DV-Micro kit includes everything needed to remotely operate and control your transmitter. It comes standard with 230mm (9in) pigtail wiring for easy connection to Davicom units. RF Power Sensor BPS Bidirectional RF Power Sensor Ordering #: BPS-1050 and BPS-5095 The BPS Bidirectional RF Power Sensor can continuously monitor forward and reflected power by being permanently installed in the transmission line. Each sensor has two internal trimmers for field calibration of the output voltages of both forward and reflected powers. The sensor comes in two versions. 6 The following is a quote from LOW POWER FM STATION SELF-INSPECTION CHECKLIST, which can be found at: UNATTENDED OPERATION : Unattended operation consists of using self-monitoring or automatic transmission system (ATS) monitoring equipment to control the transmission system, or alternatively, operation in the absence of constant human supervision with equipment that can operate for prolonged periods of time within assigned tolerances. In the former case, equipment must be configured to automatically take the station off the air within the required 3 hour time period after an out-of-tolerance condition arises. In the latter case, the licensee is required to make certain that the station is monitored frequently enough to ensure that station operation is corrected or terminated within the designated 3 hour time limit, but constant human supervision is not required. LPFM stations that operate unattended will be required to advise the Commission by letter to FCC, Media Bureau, of the unattended operation and provide an address and telephone number where a responsible party can be reached during such times of operation. Licensees should maintain a copy of any such letter with their station records. [See , (b) and Report and Order in MM Docket 99-25, FCC 00-19, released January 27, 2000, p117.] NOTE 1: A Media Bureau Fact Sheet on Unattended Operation may be found on the Internet at NOTE 2: The 3 hour time starts whenever operation exceeds any tolerance. Therefore, the licensee should make certain sufficient monitoring is in place to detect and correct out-oftolerance conditions within this three hour period.
