1 DIVISION 28 ELECTRONIC SAFETY AND SECURITY PART 1 GENERAL 1.01 DESCRIPTION A. Division 28 Contractor shall extend a complete Matrix Systems Access Control System as shown on the Drawings and as specified herein. Provide all accessories and equipment as necessary for extending a complete system adding components where necessary. B. System shall be complete with control panels, door contacts, motion detectors, keypads, power supplies, batteries, phone line dialer, audible devices, supervised wiring, and all other items required for a complete fully functioning system. C. Electric strikes/latches and power supplies are provided by the door hardware supplier. This Contractor is required to coordinate with door hardware supplier and Division 26 Contractor, and is responsible for final connections to access control system including integration with automatic handicap door operators. D. This Contractor is required to coordinate with door hardware supplier and Division 26 Contractor, and is responsible for final connections to access control system including integration with automatic handicap door operators. Refer to door hardware schedule, details and drawings for locations of door contacts QUALITY ASSURANCE A. The system shall be UL listed and approved for the application intended and shall be compliant with all standards and regulations that may apply. These listing and approvals shall include, but not be limited to, FCC, CE, UL 1950, UL 294, and UL The latter UL 1076 will be applied only to the overall system, including the host when available SUBMITTALS A. For Review: 1. Product data sheets of all components 2. Wiring Diagrams 3. Full Size Lay-out Drawings B. To be included in Record and Information Manuals: 1. Identicard F. Existing Security Contractor: Schmidt Security 241 Mansfield Industrial Parkway Mansfield, Ohio (866) Nate Huffman PART 2 PRODUCTS 2.01 CONTROL UNIT A. The Control unit is existing and by PremiSys Access Control Systems. All other components interface with this unit CREDENTIAL READERS AND CREDENTIALS A. The credential reader shall be legacy 125kHz based proximity sensor 1. The sensor shall read encoded data from the fob and/or transponder and transmit the data back to the host, giving an audible and visual indication of a properly read card. 2. The sensor shall be no larger than 5.0" x 5.0" x 1.0" (12.7 X 12.7 X 2.54 cm). 3. The sensor shall have a typical read range of 5.5" to 8" (14-20 cm), when used with a HID Corporation ProxCard II proximity card. 4. The sensor shall be provided with an internal tamper switch that will indicate an alarm condition if an unauthorized attempt is made to disassemble the unit. 5. The sensor shall be a single unit with properly sized mounting holes that allow it to be attached directly to a single gang electrical box. 6. The sensor shall be sealed to a NEMA rating of 4X, and all internal electronics will have conformal coating to provide a high degree of environmental protection. 7. The sensor shall be listed under UL 294 as an access control system accessory, and shall be FCC and DTI certified. 8. The sensor shall have separate terminal control points for the green LED, the red LED, and the audible indicator. 9. The sensor shall have a hold line that will buffer a card read until the panel has asserted that the information can be sent up line. 10. The sensor shall have a re-present mode in which the card must be taken from the reader field for one second before being read again HC1-033
3 11. The sensor shall be fully weatherized, and shall have an operating temperature of -22 to 150 degrees Fahrenheit (-30 to 65 degrees Celsius), and shall have an operating humidity of 5-95% noncondensing. 12. The sensor shall have a lifetime warranty. 13. The sensor shall transmit at a 125 khz frequency. 14. The cable requirements of the sensor shall be a minimum five- (5) conductor, 22 AWG, stranded cable with overall shield (for a Wiegand protocol interface). A six- (6) conductor cable is required when controlling the red and green LED individually. A seven- (7) conductor cable is required when both the red and green LED s are controlled by the Host. A 22 AWG twisted pair, shielded, stranded cable is required for use of the tamper switch. 15. The sensor shall have the following configuration options which are user selectable by dip switch settings: (a) Sensor beeps and flashes green on a card read, LED normally red, single line control of LED. (b) Sensor flashes green on a card read LED normally red, single line control of LED. (c) Sensor beeps on a card read, LED normally red, single line control of LED. (d) Sensor and LED are controlled by host only, LED normally red, single line control of LED. (e) Sensor beeps and flashes green on a card read, LED normally off, red and green LED s controlled individually. (f) Sensor flashes green on a card read, LED normally off, red and green LED s controlled individually. (g) Sensor beeps on a card read, LED normally off, red and green LED s controlled individually. 16. The sensor shall communicate in a Wiegand protocol interface, and be compatible with all standard access control systems. 17. The sensor shall also be available in optional RS232 and RS422 serial interfaces. 18. The voltage requirements of the sensor shall be vdc. B. The Credential shall be a 125kHz based proximity card. 1. The card shall be x x 0,030 ±0.003 nominal. 2. The card shall be constructed of polyvinyl chloride (PVC) laminate. 3. The card shall have an operating temperature of -50º to 160º F. and weigh 6.8g. 4. The card shall be RF programmable at 125kHz with customer specified ID numbers. 5. The card shall support formats up to 85 bits, with over 137 billion codes. 6. The card shall use passive technology allowing an infinite number of reads. 7. The card shall be capable of accepting either direct image or thermal printing. 8. The card shall be laser engraved with an external identification number. C. Provide battery backup with batteries and battery charger as required to provide one hour operation of the security system in the event of a power failure. D. Proximity Card Readers shall read cards up to 4" away, fit in a standard 1-gang wall box, be black in color and have bi-color LED indicator. Provide 100 proximity cards with the system. Programming of cards shall be included and coordinated with Owner ACCESS CONTROL SOFTWARE FUNCTIONS A. Existing PremiSys Access Control System software 13-HC
4 2.04 MISCELLANEOUS EQUIPMENT A. Provide all cabling required for installation of complete system. PART 3 EXECUTION 3.01 INSTALLATION A. Division 28 Contractor shall install Security System as shown on the Drawings in accordance with Manufacturer's written instructions. B. All wiring shall be installed in conduit TESTING A. Division 28 Contractor shall provide a complete functional test of all components in accordance with Manufacturer's recommendations. B. Operate system for a minimum of seven (7) consecutive days with no problems before claiming Contract Completion. C. Refer to Section , "Electrical Tests, Adjustments, Inspection." 3.03 SPARE PARTS A. Division 28 Contractor shall furnish one (1) spare device for each type used, including keypad, passive infrared detector and door contacts. B. Obtain a signed copy of the Certificate of Material Receipt from Section , "Requirements for Contract Completion." C. Coordinate the I/O interface, programming and wiring with CCTV System supplier ( ) for control and monitor of the CCTV System EQUIPMENT DEMONSTRATION A. After all system tests have been completed, schedule an instruction period with the Owner. Instruction to be provided by Manufacturer's authorized field technician. Provide four separate sessions of four hours. Record sessions on DVD and furnish two copies to school. B. Instruction shall include: 1. Location of all components of the system and explanation of their function 2. Demonstration of equipment 3. Maintenance and repair procedures 4. Programming procedures 5. Review of documents in Record and Information Manuals C. Division 28 Contractor shall have all participants sign the Certificate of System Completion in Section , "Requirements for Contract Completion." HC1-033
5 3.05 WARRANTY OF WORK A. The Division 27 Contractor shall warrant all materials, equipment and workmanship for a period of one (1) year from date of completion. Refer to Section END OF SECTION 13-HC
