3 ABOUT THE FILM Wim returns to the city, which he left a few years before, to sell his dead mother s apartment. He encounters some old friends - and himself. NOW/HERE began with the need to tell a story about a return. Reminiscing on my own past experience of encounters, many unexpectedly revived through social networking sites, taught me that every return is inevitably linked to a departure. At the same time, I wanted the main character to suffer from the reality he created and in which he finds himself. Without success, he is forced to return to the first reality he knew - his youth - with both the absence and presence of the figures who inhabited it. I wanted to talk about nostalgia and recognition, about how things change. The different realities we create, make existence more and more difficult. In my film, the main character is haunted by them through his dreams. His only solution is to escape - time and time again. David Williamson

7 ABOUT THE DIRECTOR DAVID/WILLIAMSON director, writer NOW/HERE is David Williamson s graduation short film from the Sint Lukas Film School in Brussels from which he graduated with a Master s degree (2010) in Audiovisual Arts. As a student, he also wrote and directed the short film Serotonin (2009). He was born in 1983 and has dual British and German nationality. Besides his work as a director, he is also an established cinematographer. He has worked on several Flemish short films including Iceland (2009), that was chosen for the official selection of the Cannes Film Festival, and Paroles (2010). He also works as stage- and light designer for the Belgian theatre company MARS, run by his co-writer and actor Angelo Tijssens.

9 PIETER/GENARD role of wim verhaes Pieter Genard (1976) graduated in 1998 from the Royal Conservatory of Brussels. He has played key roles in several Flemish films including Kassablanka (2002) and With Friends Like These (2007) by Felix Van Groeningen. He was also the lead actor in David Williamsons previous short Serotonin (2009). ANGELO/TIJSSENS co-writer, role of otto ABOUT THE CAST Angelo Tijssens (1986) studied at Dora van Der Groens Theatre Class at the Herman Teirlinck Institute. He runs his own theatre company MARS where he writes, acts and directs. He starred in Gilles Coulier s short films Iceland (2009) and Paroles (2010). As with NOW/HERE, he also co-wrote both of the screenplays for those films. SURA/DOHNKE role of elia Sura Dohnke (1980) studied at LAMDA (The London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art) and also at the Central School of Speech and Drama (University of London). She first appeared in Tom Barman s debut feature film Any way the wind blows (2003) and in several other films. She also appeared in two productions by MARS. SARA/VERTONGEN role of ingrid Sara Vertongen (1976) graduated in 1998 from the Herman Teirlinck Institute. She starred in the feature film Olivetti 82 (2001) and in David Williamson s previous short Serotonin (2009).

11 ABOUT THE CREW GILLES/COULIER cinematography Gilles Coulier (1986) graduated from Sint Lukas, Brussels in the same year as David Williamson. They previously worked together on David s first short film Serotonin. Gilles directed both Iceland and Paroles. Iceland won the Flemish Audiovisual Funds Wildcard in He is currently working on his first feature film. GREGORY/FRATEUR and ANDREW/CLAES music Gregory Frateur is the lead singer of Belgian band Dez Mona, an international known band fusing jazz, gospel, spirituals and drama. Together with Andrew Claes, known for his electronic music, he wrote the soundtrack for NOW/ HERE - including a 21st century adaptation of Senta s aria from Wagners The Flying Dutchman.
