1 Dr. Pamela Alean- Kirkpatrick Rheinstrasse Eglisau pam@alean.ch I studied Chemistry at Durham University, UK, have a postgraduate certificate in education PGCE also from Durham and a doctorate in Chemistry from the University of Zurich. Since 1993 I have been working in tertiary education as an academic developer in Centres for Teaching and Learning, and in Human Resources. I presently work part time as an academic developer at the Division of Biology, University of Zurich. In addition I have my own one-woman company called alean-academics. As a freelance trainer, I give courses in transferable skills (e.g. project management, oral and poster presentations, career development, mentoring, supervision of students, university teaching and learning) for researchers and teachers at institutions of higher education throughout Switzerland and in neighbouring Germany. I completed my Ph.D. in clinical psychology at the University of California, Berkeley whereupon I embarked on an academic career as a professor at UCLA, UC Berkeley and McGill University in Montreal, Canada. After my return to Switzerland, I became professor of management psychology and director of the Chair of Higher Education at the EPFL in Lausanne. I have been in independent practice now for over 10 years as the head of MTC Management Training & Coaching offering leadership and management training as well as coaching. After several years in research at the University of Konstanz, I moved to a private company for medical devices, being project and product manager in veterinary medicine. From 2003 until 2011, I was Programme Manager at the Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF). In this function I was responsible for two funding programmes for researchers: Marie Heim-Vögtlin subsidies (promotion of women) and the European Young Investigator (EURYI) Awards I had the pleasure to chair two working groups within the MO-Forum on Research Careers of the European Science Foundation dealing with Conditions of a research career in Europe and Gender Issues. From I was Head of the Service Center for Equal Opportunities at the HSG as well as Head Office and Counseling: Protection of Personal Integrity. I completed my coaching certification at the Academy for Coach Training in Seattle, Washington (USA) one of the first coaching schools worldwide to be accredited by the International Coaching Federation. In addition to my formal training in psychology and coaching, I have also pursued, and continue to pursue, training in alternative coaching methods and techniques. In my work I regularly employ hypnotherapy, guided imagery and visualization, breathwork, bodywork, yogatherapy and muscle function therapy. I have my own Life Change Management company in Zürich, and I work 100% as a psychologist, coach/trainer.
