2 Adult Online Driver Education - Only $38.00 Who has to take the adult driver education course? Adult driver education is mandatory for first time drivers between the ages of 18 and 24. Adults 25 and over may choose to take the class if they want to. Is the adult course approved? Yes. Our adult driver education course meets all state standards. It includes 6 hours of study as well as a final exam that counts as the official state road rules and road signs examination. What is the class schedule? Since the course is available online, adult students can complete their driver education at their own pace, during times that do not interfere with their college or work schedules. How do you know it is me? Do I have to check in somewhere? National Driver Training uses sophisticated voice biometric technology to allow our students to verify their identity with a phone call at any time of the day so they can work on driver education at their convenience. Will I need to take a written test at the DPS? No, you will not need to take a written test at the DPS. After completing the 6 hour class, we administer the official state road rules and road signs test online. You will have three opportunities to pass the test. If you can not pass the test after 3 tries, you will be allowed to re-start the program at no additional charge. How fast can I get my certificate of completion? We know how important it is to receive the certificate of completion in a timely manner, that is why the National Driver Training team is committed to mailing out completion certificates the next business day after program completion. Our certifying instructor s office is in Austin, so most certificates take 2 days to get to the student. Shipping by first class mail is free; however, priority mail and express mail options are available for individuals who need the certificate faster. Do you offer your adult online program in Spanish? 3 Parent Taught Driver Education - Only $79.00 Who can take a parent taught driver education course? Parent Taught Driver Education is available for teens age 14 1/2 to 17 but you must register with the DPS in Austin by mailing in a DL 92 Request form. Is the Parent Taught course approved? Yes. Our Parent Taught course is approved by the DPS and identified as Course 102. It is also recognized by every insurance carrier in the State of Texas. What is the class schedule? Since the course is available online, students can complete their driver education at their own pace, during times that do not interfere with their school or work schedules. The state allows you to study up to two hours per day. How do I get a permit? After registering with the DPS, you will need to complete your first 6 hours of study. This must be done over a minimum of three days. Once the first 6 hours are complete, you may download your certificate and forms to take to the DPS, where you will take a written test (on road signs and road rules) to get your permit. How fast can I get my certificate and other forms? As you complete your requirements online, your forms are unlocked and become immediately available for downloading and printing. How do I get my license? You will need to complete 26 additional class hours online and log 50 hours of driving with your parents. Once you are at least 16 years old, you have held your permit for at least 6 months, and have finished the course, you will need to download your completion paperwork and go to the DPS for a driving skills test. Does your program have an expiration date? No. The program does not expire, but you should plan on completing it before you turn 18. Rules for obtaining a license are different for individuals age 18 and older (see right panel) and the teen course will not necessarily transfer. Do I have to do it online? No. While our online course is our most popular format, we also offer optional upgrades for families who do not have or do not want to use the internet. Optional upgrades include a CD, a book, and a DVD. How much does it cost?
