3 POLICING SUITE WALK-THROUGH PRE-REGISTRATION SUPPORT TUTOR (PAT) SUPPORT TUTOR (PAT) SUPPORT YEAR 1 YEAR 3 AWARD Arrival and registration on one of the nine named awards Six Core Police/ Policing modules which are both mandatory and common for each of the nine named awards CertHE 120 credits At the end of Year 1 the student either remains on their registered named award or chooses a new one to be taken in Year 2, supported by their PAT Core Police/ Policing modules, Designated modules on the named award, and Pool Option modules DipHE 120 credits At the end of Year 2 the student stays on their original named award or, depending on what modules have been taken, chooses a in Year 3 supported by their PAT Core Police/ Policing modules, Designated modules on the named award, and Pool Option modules Individual Study Dissertation (40 credits) which must focus on the topic of the named award 120 credits The named award is predicated on the Designated modules studied in Years 2 and 3 and the focus of the Individual Study Dissertation in Year credits required from the Core Police/ Policing modules, 100 credits from the Designated modules and 40 credits from the Pool Option modules to be entitled to the named award BSc (Hons) Total 360 credits POLICING SUITE GUIDE 3

4 SIX CORE POLICE/POLICING MODULES These are mandatory and common for each of the nine named awards. Police Practice, Policy and Procedures 1 Policing and the Criminal Justice System The Law and Politics of Policing Crime Science Police, Policing and Security Policing: What Works

5 Having registered on a named award in the Policing Suite and completed the common first year, the student has the opportunity to EITHER: Continue on the same named award for the next 2 years until the end of their studies; OR Choose a different named award before starting Year 2 (Level 5), and continue on the new choice until the end of their studies; OR Within the bounds of what modules have been completed at year 2 (Level 5), choose a different named award before starting Year 3 (Level 6), and continue on the new choice until the end of their studies. N.B. To be awarded the CKP, the student must study the Police Practice, Policy and Procedures modules in Year 3.
