I have worked within high, medium, low secure and community forensic settings. During this time, I have worked with men and women who have posed varying degrees of risk to others to help understand the origin of their difficulties, reduce and manage risk and improve their psychological wellbeing. Risk assessment and risk management has been integral to my work and I have undertaken various trainings to ensure that I utilise best practice methods. I am trained to undertake assessments of personality, risk and cognitive functioning. I have designed and facilitated groups to address sexual offending behaviours and provided individual therapies to men who have committed Internet sexual offending. I have also designed and facilitated groups to address emotional awareness and expression (including anger), mental health awareness, and masculinity. I have also provided individual therapies to clients using Cognitive Behavioural and Cognitive Analytical Therapy principles to explore offending and risky behaviour, mental health difficulties, trauma and rehabilitation. I have also worked with female partners of men who have sexually and/or violently offended, assessing their ability to protect children and enhancing their awareness of protection issues through group and individual therapies. I have a special interest in the field of personality disorder, having worked in three specialised personality disorder services and I am currently completed a Master s Degree in Personality Disorder: Improving Expertise, Enhancing Practice. I am currently based in the community working with men released from prison who have personality disorders. The service is holistic and aims to help reduce risk to self and others, improve psychological functioning and well-being, and integrate into the community. As part of the management team, I am involved in risk assessment and management, facilitating therapies, leading the day programme, supervising staff, delivering training to other

2 professionals and attending various professional meetings advising on risk management such as Multi Agency Public Protection Arrangements. 4 Appendix 1 Chartered Clinical & Forensic Psychologist/Deputy Service Director, Resettle (Intensive Intervention & Case Management Service) Joint Probation and NHS community Personality Disorder Service (June 2008 date) Responsibilities listed in relevant experience section. Chartered Clinical & Forensic Psychologist, Mersey Forensic Psychology Service (in-patient medium secure and community forensic) (October 2005 June 2008) I provided psychological assessments and intervention (individual and group) to adults with offending histories at risk of re-offending. This involved working with men and women residing within the community at risk of sexual and violent offending, providing assessments of risk and suitability for intervention. I co-facilitated all aspects of the sexual offender treatment group, being lead facilitator for two parts of the programme. I also provided individual and group work to female partners of men who have committed sexual &/or violent offences against children, to raise awareness of their partner s risk and empower them to adequately protect their children from potential abuse. I also provided individual interventions to clients who have aggression and/or sexual offending difficulties and help them increase their self-awareness regarding their unhelpful repeating patterns of behaviour and the negative impact upon self and others. I also worked with clients with psychiatric diagnoses of personality disorders and mental illness to understand the origin of their difficulties, their impact and identify alternative ways of coping. Some clients having recently been discharged into the community from prison and secure hospital settings and I also provide intervention regarding rehabilitation into the community. I also provided consultation and training to other professionals (social services, probation, private providers, police) regarding risk assessment and management. I provided psychological opinions regarding risk and risk management to MAPPP meetings and child protection conferences. Trainee Clinical Psychologist, University of Liverpool September 2002 September 2005 My duties were to complete academic work (clinical assignments, exams and research investigations) and a word thesis and attend taught modules on adult clinical psychology, complex difficulties (personality difficulties, severe and enduring mental health), neuropsychology, pharmacology, learning disability, child psychology, older adult, forensic, research methods and therapeutic models. My thesis explored clinicians' perceptions on building therapeutic alliance with personality disordered offenders within high secure services and used a grounded theory approach. I also completed 4 clinical placements of a 6-month duration in adult mental health, older adult, learning disability and the youth offending team and a 10-month placement in community and secure forensic services. All placements involved working under the supervision of a qualified clinical psychologist and completing assessments and interventions with individuals and groups. I also assisted in service development and provided training and consultation to staff. Associate Forensic Psychologist, Rampton Hospital September September 2002 My duties were to provide psychological assessment and intervention (individual and group work) to male patients detained within the personality disorder service within a high secure setting. This involved completing assessments of personality disorders (IPDE, PAI, PCL-R) and risk (HCR-20, SVR-20, static 99 etc.) to inform appropriate intervention. I used motivational interviewing techniques to help facilitate engagement and utilised Dialectical Behaviour Therapy, and Schema Focused Therapy approaches in addition to CBT. I co-facilitated a masculinity group and a sex offender treatment group and contributed

5 to weekly community meetings. I was an allocated ward psychologist and provided psychological opinion at ward rounds and undertook joint work with nursing colleagues. I also contributed to research projects and presented findings to peers and other disciplines and at the DFP conference. I completed all the necessary components to fulfil the role of a chartered forensic psychologist. Project Co-ordinator, Personality Disorder Network, Henderson Hospital March 1999 September 2000 As part of a democratic therapeutic community I created a user network of services and promoted a dialogue between service users and professionals via a quarterly magazine.
