1 About the programme Crime and security related matters have become a major concern in modern society. In view of this development, it has become increasingly necessary to enhance the capacity of institutions charged with these responsibilities. It is in this context that, the Faculty endeavours to introduce a curriculum on Criminology and Security Management. This course will provide a rich resource and relevant skills to the police, prison and private security firms. It will also enhance knowledge in social life, causes and consequences of human behaviour, which will in turn contribute towards an enabling environment for national development. Expected Learning Outcomes of the Programme By the end of the course, the learner should be able to: 1. Take up responsibilities in the dynamic Security industry as managers and supervisors. 2. Demonstrate leadership and managerial skills and professionalism that will enable them pursue personal development in specific areas of interest in Criminology & Security Management. 3. Use the knowledge and skills acquired to take up entrepreneurial roles in the country and provide employment not only to themselves but also to others. 4. Develop and carry out Criminology & Security Management community programmes to uplift the standards of living of the communities and the country at large. Mode of Delivery of the Programme The mode of study for the Bachelor in Criminology and Security Management Programme is Full Time. The programme will also be available in Part-time and Distance Learning modes.
