2 MODERN MANAGEMENT FOR THE PATH TO A HEALTHY FUTURE HEALTH AND CARE MANAGEMENT Bachelor's Study Course The rapid development in medicine, population development and the changing financial situation in healthcare demand highly-qualified health and care managers. This course offers suitable education for the assumption of management tasks i.e. a mix of broadly placed functional-methodical skills and specific knowledge of the health and care sectors. JOBS & CAREERS Upon successful completion of the course Health- and Care Management, graduates have a diversified professional knowledge at their disposal which qualifies them for leadership activities and management tasks at a middle-management level. Graduates are employed in the following areas: Interface management or coordination e.g. between intra- and extramural health and care fields Conception, implementation and evaluation of case and care management Health promotion and counseling for healthy, care-needy and disabled people Management positions in health, care and social institutions Quality management in health institutions Business consulting Conception and interpretation of research activities After seven years practice as a qualified health and nursing professional, I chose this study in order to educate myself further. I rate the widely-diverse lectures of this study very highly as one can get a comprehensive view of future professional fields. Stays in London and Belgium, not only improved my English but I also gained international competence and networks which will be of great use in my future career. Mag. 5 In addition to being a research centre, our centre has established itself across Austria for interdisciplinary pain therapy and palliative medicine as well as for the treatment of pain-suffering and palliative patients. An absolute must for research is the cooperation with other institutions. We are in the enviable position of working with the Carinthian University of Applied Sciences of Health and Care Management (Univ. Prof. Dr. Herbert Janig) for many years. We have conducted studies concerning quality of life but also research relating to the training of doctors and care/nursing staff. 10 FACTS HEALTH AND CARE MANAGEMENT Bachelor Study Full-time/Part-time ENTRY REQUIRMENTS Secondary School Leaving Certificate (Matura from an AHS or BHS) Qualification for University entrance or Vocational Matriculation Certificate Appropriate occupational qualification with additional examinations in the subjects of German, English and Mathematics. OUR ADMISSIONS PROCESS For our multi-stage admissions process, written registrations should include the following documentation: Application form Curriculum Vitae with photo Copies of annual report cards from 9 th school grade onwards as well as Matura Certificate (Secondary School Leaving Certificate/Abitur) and proof of qualification for university entrance respectively Copy of proof of citizenship (for foreign applicants a copy of your passport is also required) If all of the formal prerequisites have been fulfilled, you will be invited to a written placement test, to establish your suitability. After evaluation of the written placement test, you will be invited by the admissions committee to attend an interview. You will be notified in writing of the outcome of the admissions process. ACCREDITATION If you have graduated from a relevant vocational training school, you may be accredited for your previous knowledge in particular subjects. Likewise, examinations from University courses and studies, academia and other educational institutions inland or oversees may also be accredited.
