Vernon, IL (8:00 AM - 5:00 PM CDT) SEX OFFENDER ASSESSMENT & MANAGEMENT: THE STATE-OF-THE-ART IN 2015 Sexual recidivism risk assessments are increasingly required in correctional, mental health, and court settings in the United States. This training will focus on the structured assessment and subsequent management of sex offender risk with a strong emphasis on the underpinnings of current practice recommendations and on reviewing the latest research findings concerning the accuracy of commonly used risk assessment tools. Which instruments are used, by whom, where, and for what purposes will be discussed, as will ratings of perceived usefulness in practice from the largest global survey ever conducted on this topic. Attendees can also expect to learn about current uncertainties being discussed in this quickly evolving field. The lecture is aimed towards professionals working in correctional (jails, prisons, parole boards, probation officers) and mental health (psychologists, psychiatrists, and social workers) settings as well as litigators and judges. The goal of the training workshop is to teach attendees how to integrate risk assessment research into evidence-based practice and will highlight innovative new clinical strategies and services developed over the past year that may aid in this endeavor. JAY P. SINGH, PHD is the internationally award-winning founder of the Global Institute of Forensic Research Keynote Speaker at the Midatlantic Region Association for the Treatment of Sexual Abusers (MARATSA), he completed his graduate studies in psychiatry at the University of Oxford. Since this time, he has lectured for Harvard, Yale, Columbia, Cornell, Brown, and Dartmouth. Current tenured Professor of Epidemiology at Molde University College in Norway and Clinical Associate in the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Pennsylvania, Dr. Singh has published over 50 peer-reviewed articles on risk assessment research conducted in over 40 countries.

ATSA Past President, Mr. Prescott has over 30 years of experience in assessing, managing, and monitoring both the perpetrators and victims of sexual abuse. He is the author of over 10 books and 50 articles and book chapters. RISK ASSESSMENT FOR SEXUALLY ABUSIVE YOUTH Phil Rich, EdD, LICSW is a leading national and international trainer on juvenile sexual offenders. Dr. Rich has practiced for over 30 years, including as program director of five treatment programs working extensively with troubled adolescents and adults in residential, inpatient, day treatment, and outpatient settings. He is the author of four books on the assessment, treatment, and rehabilitation of sexually abusive youth. ADDRESSING ETHICAL DILEMMAS WITH SEX OFFENDERS Erik Fox, JD, PhD is a licensed forensic psychologist and attorney in California with over 20 years of clinical experience. Current ATSA Head of Education and Training, Dr. Fox is committed to promoting high-quality Continuing Education resources for association members. He is an experienced elearning faculty member for the University of Phoenix. INTERNATIONAL APPROACHES TO SEX OFFENDER MANAGEMENT Ruth Tully, DForenPsy, CPsychol, EuroPsy, AFBPsS, CSci is a consultant forensic psychologist chartered by the British Psychological Society and registered by the Health and Care Professions Council. She also serves as Assistant Professor of Medicine and Health Sciences at the University of Nottingham. INTERNET SEX OFFENDERS: WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW Eric Imhof, PsyD is the current President of the Florida Association for the Treatment of Sexual Abusers (FATSA). Dr. Imhof has practiced for over 30 years in the field of sex offender management and has performed thousands of sex offender evaluations and risk assessments on behalf of government agencies, prosecutors and private clients. He is a popular speaker at conferences and committees throughout the United States. Suzonne Kline, PsyD is the former Administrator of Florida s Sexually Violent Predator Program. She recently founded an independent forensic practice specializing in the assessment and management of sexual offenders, internet sex crimes, public safety, risk assessment, and the provision of expert testimony. In addition, Dr. Kline offers expert consultation regarding effective sex offender management practices. FEMALE SEX OFFENDERS: HOW DO WE EFFECTIVELY TREAT THEM? Brad Allen, JD, PhD is a licensed psychologist with the State of Wisconsin Department of Health Services. He has been a practicing clinician for over 25 years, over which time he has received advanced degrees in law, psychology, sociology, and epidemiology. In addition to having extensive experience in the assessment and treatment of sexual offenders, he has an eclectic research background publishing in the areas of developmental disabilities and gerontology. Dawn Pflugradt, PsyD is a licensed psychologist with the State of Wisconsin Department of Health Services. She also serves as Assistant Professor at the Wisconsin School of Professional Psychology, where she teaches courses in developmental psychology, personality development, and ethics. In addition to her years of clinical experience, Dr. Pflugradt has published numerous articles and book chapters in the areas sex offender assessment and treatment as well as pediatrics.

The American Nurses Credentialing Center accepts Continuing Education Credit sponsored by the American Psychological Association.
