3 Supervisor: Ana-Maria Staicu under subcontract to Department of Biostatistics and Epidemiology Perelman School of Medicine University of Pennsylvania Philadelphia, PA Supervisor: Russell Taki Shinohara Project I: Developed sampling techniques to reduce the computational expense of fitting models to magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) data. Project II: Developing a functional historical model for predicting tissue damage in the MRIs of patients with multiple sclerosis Department of Statistics Supervisor: Ana-Maria Staicu Project I: Developed testing methodology for the two-sample problem of functional data. This work is motivated by diffusion tensor imaging of patients with Multiple Sclerosis. The R code was published online. Project II: Developed a multidimensional change detection algorithm that reduced the dimensionality of the testing problem through joint diagonalization of a common transformation matrix. Intern 2013 Maxpoint Interactive Research Analytics Team Morrisville, NC Supervisor: Michael Els Project I: Developed Bayesian and functional data analysis methodology for estimating pricing distribution curves for specific subpopulations of interest. R and SQL were used and provided for implementation of methods. Project II: Provided learning materials and informational lecture to research analytics team about model evaluation criteria AT&T Labs Statistics Research Department Florham Park, NJ Supervisor: Tamraparni Dasu Developed new performance criteria called streaming power to compare change detection algorithms on data streams.
