7 External Support gifts, grants, and contracts: a) Past Research Grant Support R03 MH61030 (Southerland, DG) 10/99 10/00 80% National Institute of Mental Health $25,000 (total direct) Welfare Reform and Use of Mental Health Services by Women: Creating a Multivariate Methodology for Measuring the Impact of Welfare Reform on Access to Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services by Poor Women Heads-of-Household. My dissertation research was supported by a Mental Health Services Research pre-dissertation grant from NIMH. This study examined the use of Medicaid reimbursed behavioral health services by a statewide cohort of poor women heads of households on welfare, and the impact of welfare reforms on their access to services. R03 MH65384 (Southerland, DG) 1/01 12/02 50% National Institute of Mental Health $50,000 (total direct) Access to Behavioral Health Services for Women on TANF: A Retrospective Study of the Relationship of Change in Eligibility and Patterns of Treatment. This was a pilot study supported by a B/Start grant from NIMH. This study examined whether access to needed behavioral health care services has been affected by these PRWORA reforms for female heads of households on TANF with a serious mental illness who were receiving behavioral health services at the beginning of the implementation of TANF in Philadelphia. Farmer, Ph.D.) % National Institute of Mental Health Therapeutic Foster Care in a System of Care Competing Continuation The major goal of this project is to examine effectiveness via randomized trial of an enhanced model of TFC for youth in long-term care. The data collection has ended and our research team is in the process of analyzing data and disseminating findings. 7
