8 POWIŚLE ENEGY OF LIFE The nature of the place is a commitment. Powiśle has always been a district facing the Vistula standing out through its inventiveness and positive stimulating energy. In the nineteenth century there operated factories drivers of the city s economy, such as the Government Machine Factory at Solec, Gasworks at Ludna Street, Fuchs Confectionery Factory and Steam Navigation Factory. Drawing from the tradition of the place, even today Powiśle is a vibrant place full of zeal very welllocated and with excellent public transport, thus creating ideal conditions for work, study, enjoyment of life. It is fostered by a rich selection of educational and cultural institutions, such as the Copernicus Science Centre, Warsaw University Library (UWL) and the Chopin Museum, large numbers of cafes, restaurants, boutiques, and soon - Vistula Boulevards.

11 SECOND LIFE OF POWIŚKE POWER PLANT The important part of Powisle history was built in Power Plant that was operational until Power Plant was one of the biggest structures of this kind generating 83 MW. It played important role during Warsaw Uprising by supplying electricity to hospitals and workshops. It will be adapted into Copernicus Square - sustainable mixed use project.
12 SPLENDOUR OF THE PAST Five historic buildings within Powiśle Power Plant will be restored according to the conservator s guidelines. A modern complex, deeply rooted in the tradition though, will be developed thanks to the close cooperation with the Capital s Conservation Officer. Maintaining and making visible the old structures and steel frames, constituting the greatest value of the facilities The shape of the windows will refer to the former facade Preserving the furnace, restoring the hoppers from the former boiler-house which were supplied with coal by a conveyor. The restored cranes from the engine-house building will remind of the function of the building and the history of this place Preserving the huge river water drum filter the in the caisson building.
13 NEW IDEA The important challenge for architects was to accommodate historic elements and functions of buildings with contemporary conditions. recreating postwar elevation in old distribution center in glass cases inside of public bathrooms there will be display of plaques and other elements and objects from historic times of Power Plant. in front of reception desks at the entrances, the elements pointed out by conservationist as historically important will be placed Outline of chimney between old engine-room and new office building.

15 NEW IDEA The project provides for the construction of five new facilities, integrated into the space so as to properly harmonize with the monuments. The architects have introduced regularly recurring wooden elements into glass façades of the buildings, so that the external walls have gained rhythm and avoided monotony. The inspiration by the design and appearance of the boiler house is also visible. Class A offices will be delivered in three new buildings, constructed and finished with the highest quality materials.

21 NEW PUBLIC FUNCTIONS Copernicus Square will add a new public space to the Powiśle district. Sustainable urban design of the complex ensures multifunctionality and integrity of urban functions, which forms the metropolitan nature of the investment. In Copernicus Square there will be public squares accessible to everyone: Vistula Square, Nature Square, Technology Square, and History Square. This will allow office users, shoppers and residents of the apartments to work, stay and live in a friendly place, full of positive energy. Moreover, the natural pedestrians traffic will positively affect the interest of the retail and services premises tenants in the offer.
