3 Changing demographics and a concentration of poverty in Salt Lake City s west side has resulted in highly uneven patterns of college access and success. How can the city and its partners create educational equity and support postsecondary success for all community members THE BIG QUESTION 3

7 Community Learning Centers (CLC): The Salt Lake School District is a key partner in the implementation of A Capital City Education. Their commitment to the development of district-wide CLC s will provide comprehensive education and health programs that, support youth and family success. These include attention to literacy learning and self-development for adults as well as children; an early childhood development focus; and access to health and mental health education and services. COMMUNITY LEARNING CENTERS 7
8 Cultivation Alliance for A Capital City Education: As an outcome of the National League of Cities Leadership Academy for Postsecondary Assess and Success in October 2011, the Salt Lake City teamed formed this Alliance representing partners from city government, public education, higher education and community. Utilizing a coalition-building framework, this small working group meets weekly to develop and implement strategies that drive Salt Lake City s team goals established at the Leadership Academy.
