Represent the University with the Natinal Elderhstel Institute, the University Center f Lake Cunty and the Cllege f Lake Cunty, the Multi-University Center in DuPage Cunty, and the Illinis Manufacturing Extensin Center. In additin, develp and expand cllabratins with the Army s Cnstructin Engineering Research Labratry (CERL), t prvide training and technical supprt t users f engineered management sftware develped by CERL. (This prgram expanded t Sweden t bring sftware and training t the Eurpean market.) Cntinuing Educatin enrlls mre than 8000 students in 546 credit classes, 25,000 students in nncredit classes, and administered 60 cnferences with mre than 25,000 attendees. Oversight f 126 full-time emplyees, 84 part-time staff, and a large vlunteer prgram. The Rbert Allertn Park and Cnference Center. A unique facility 30 miles west f the Urbana Campus, Allertn Park was the first majr gift given t the University. Once a private estate, it cnsists f a cnference and retreat center, a 1500-acre natural park, frmal gardens, envirnmental educatin and visitr center, a demnstratin farm, a utilities plant, and 3700 acres f prductin farmland. The interface between the campus, the surrunding cmmunity, and the state is in part dependent n issues f sustainability: energy generatin and cnsumptin, water, green spaces, lcally grwn fds and ther purchasing issues, building designs, etc. C-chair the Cmmittee fr a Sustainable Campus Envirnment t imprve campus sustainability bradly cnstrued. Secured $6M funding t build three 1.5 megawatt wind turbines n the Urbana Campus. Secured partial funding t create a center fr sustainable design C-principal investigatr in the University s participatin in the Slar Decathln. The Slar Decathln is a biannual Department f Energy spnsred internatinal cmpetitin in which 20 teams build prttype ff-grid slar huses. The cmpetitin culminates in a public demnstratin f the slar huses n the mall in Washingtn, D.C. At Illinis, this is a crss-campus initiative that includes teams f faculty, students, and prfessinals frm acrss the campus and the cmmunity. C-lead the Illinis Smart Energy Design Assistance Center, an Illinis Department f Cmmerce and Ecnmic Opprtunity funded prgram t bring technical assistance and prfessinal develpment t architects, builders, planners, and develpers thrughut the state.
