1 BAŞKENT University, Department of Banking and Finance General Information Department of Banking and Finance is a 4-year bachelor's degree programme. Courses and their contents are selected and arranged to gain students adequate occupational qualification and management skills. In the first two years of the programme, students take courses which are basic for their education. In the final two years of the programme students take Monetary Theory and Policy, Banking Law, Capital Markets, Banking Operations, International Financial Markets, Credit Policy and Evoluation, Risk Management in Banking, Central Bank and Banking Accounting Courses. Since the department considers work experience very important, students have to complete summer training for 30 working days and internship for at least 400 working hours. In this context, majority of occupational courses are given by experts who are working at Treasury, Foreign Trade Undersecretariat, Central Bank, Ministry of Finance, State Planning Organization, National Banks and Institutions. Qualification Awarded Department Of Banking and Finance Level of Qualification Bachelor's Degree Specific Admission Requirements Students should pass the centrally administered entrance exam conducted by Student Selection and Placement Center (OSYM). General admission requirements stated under Info on the Institution on this website are being applied to start this programme. Recognition of Prior Learning Depending on the degrees awarded, theoretical or practical courses taken as part of a degree (completed or not completed) may lead to recognition of these as prior learning by the programme administration. The students who have taken courses in another institution in Turkey or abroad can ask for credit and grade transfer. The executive boards of relevant programme will decide on the courses to be transferred covering students' entire academic program once and for all with the condition that the request for transfer be made within the first week of the academic year, the requests cannot be repeated Qualification Requirements and Regulations A student is required to successfully complete the designated program of courses meet a minimum of 240 ECTS credit requirement and have a minimum GPA of 2.00/4.00 and no F1, F2,Z,E or K grades. 2 The result of rapid developments in science and technology, the area of the banks and other financial institutions are expanding and their importance are increasing. National and international dimensions of financial problems are mostly related to economic adversities. Faculty of Commercial Sciences opened the Banking and Finance Department to educate individuals specializing in the financial sector. Key Learning Outcomes No Key Learning Outcomes Upon the completion of the programme, the students will be able to 1 Have general knowledge about all functions of the bank as institutions, basic concepts about banks and financial system 2 Have ability to apply theorical knowledge to practice 3 4 Have ability to make correct planning at activities in the field of banking and finance, make division of labor and make self-employment as a team member in the given time period Have ability to follow national and international developments in the financial system, and ability to adapt new learning and application areas 5 Behave attentive about ethical values, social responsibilities and social care in implementation 6 Have ability to collect data abaout banking and finance system, group them according to the needs and interpret 7 8 Have high level competence about computer and knowledge technological information, required by the profession Have ability to create analytical solutions with his/her information in the face of adverse conditions and move to action to eliminate disadvantages 9 Have ability to make professional correspondence and presentations in English 10 Have ability to be a leadership of working groups Occupational Profiles of Graduates Graduates of the program can begin to work in banking sector, leasing and factoring companies such as financial institutions and finance departments of companies with the following titles:. 6 Examination Regulations, Assessment and Grading A variety of assessment methods such as quizzes, mid-term(s), assignment(s), exercise(s), project(s), practice(s), and a final exam are implemented in the programme. Assessment methods may include classical test(s), multiple-choice test(s), homework(s), performance evaluation(s), and product evaluation(s). In order to graduate from the programme, cumulative GPA must be minimum A course grade is constituted by evaluating the above stated elements and given by using letters.
