1 General Description / International Relations Qualification Awarded The Bachelor's Degree in International Relations is awarded to the graduates who have successfully completed all courses in the curriculum Level of Qualification First Cycle Specific Admission Requirements The general requirements are explained in Application and Admission of Prospective Students part. Specific Arrangements For Recognition Of Prior Learning (Formal, Non-Formal and Informal) The rules and regulations for recognition of formal prior learning are well defined. Transfer can be made among the institutions of which equivalency is recognized by Higher Education Council. Also successful vocational school graduates to continue their education to obtain Bachelor s degrees if they are successful in the selection and the placement examination (DGS, i.e. vertical transfer examination) are admitted. The courses to be taken by these students are determined by the relevant department, on the basis of courses they have completed in the programs from which they have graduated. Recognition of prior non-formal and in-formal learning is at the beginning stage in Turkish Higher Education Institutions. However, exams of exemption are organised at the start of each year at the University for the courses of English Language and Computer Skills. The students who have completed the proficiencies for these courses on his/her own or through other means, and believe that they have achieved the learning outcomes specified are given the right to take the exemption exam. The students who achieve a passing grade from these exams are held exempt from the related course in the curriculum. Qualification Requirements and Regulations Students must obtain a grade point average of at least 2.00 out of 4.00 and successfully pass all courses on the programme (equivalent to a total of 240 ECTS). Profile of The Programme International Relations (IR) is a discipline that focuses on the cultural, historic, economic and political interactions among states, international organizations, transnational corporations, nongovernmental organizations and individuals. The mission of the Department of International Relations is to enhance students understanding and comprehension of the problems of the global arena. In doing so our students are exposed to multiple approaches to complex issues in global political life. Besides having a theoretical and analytical comprehension of international relations in general, we have designed our program so that our students will have specialized in a specific country or region by the time they graduate. The medium of instruction in the program is English. Our curriculum is structured so as to address each sub-discipline in International Relations, International Relations Theory, International Security, and International Political Economy. In the

2 third and fourth years of study, students are allowed to take a wide range of electives within the discipline and from other disciplines. Our program is designed in such a way that our students are expected to specialize in a specific country or region before they graduate from the university. Occupational Profiles of Graduates With Examples Our graduates can find jobs in the private and the public sector. They can also pursue an academic career by continuing on to a Masters or Ph.D. degree. Access to Further Studies Bachelor s Degree holders can apply to Master s Degree programmes in domestic and international programmes in the field of international relations or other related disciplines. Examination Regulations, Assessment and Grading Our program s students are required to take a mid-term examination and/or complete other assigned projects/homework during the semester and, additionally, are required to take a final examination and/or complete a final project for course evaluation. Course assessments are described in detail in under the course description on the paper and online syllabuses. Midterm examinations are conducted during the middle of the regular semester, which is the 8th week of the semester. Dates of midterm examinations are announced by each faculty through the Department during the first month of the semester. Furthermore, students take final examinations at the end of the semester. Forty percent of the midterm grade and sixty percent of the final exam grade add up to the overall passing grade. Students are required to attend classes and examinations. Students are encouraged to invite guest speakers, organize symposiums and panels on topics related to international relations. The Department allocates funds and psychical requirements to students. Besides their theoretical knowledge, our students can follow the latest developments in practice. In addition, they have opportunities to join such sports clubs as football, basketball, volleyball and many others.

3 Program Outcomes 1. Students can apply academic theories and concepts of international relations to the practical issues and problems in the world around them. 2. Students are strongly encouraged to spend an internship in the third year of their study in the country/region that they specialize in. 3. Students are trained in cultural and diplomatic skills to foster international dialogue and shape policy solutions. 4. Students can read, speak, and write a second foreign language (besides English and Turkish) at an advanced level. 5. Students will be able to use the technological devise and software as related to the study of international relations 6. Students will be able define the main problems in international relations and use the appropriate theoretical and methodological tools to approach them 7. To be able to inform individuals and institutions in the discipline of International Relations (IR); and to be able to present her/his ideas and proposals both in writing and orally, 8. Students will able to follow contemporary issues and make sense of them in a scientific way. 9. Studens will have mastered critical and analytical reading and thinking skills 10. To have a belief in the importance and universality of social rights, to be conscious of social justice and the protection of environment and resources, 11. To be able to pursue and analyse documents and data and write reports on the subject
