1 July September 627 Wheeling Avenue, Ste 207 Cambridge, OH From our President Cambridge Main Street is really hopping and busy this time of year. There is definitely "lots to love". We were very proud of our Cambridge Classic Car Show in August. Karen Boyer and Brian Stillion put on quite a day of fun and excitement. Over 270 cars were on display on Wheeling Ave. for all to see. The Farmers Market is going strong. In her first year as director, Karen Googins has an exceptional market every Friday on the courthouse lawn. Julie McCullough and I will again organize the October Fall Festival for Oct 5 th & 6 th. Wheeling Ave will be alive with rides, a new car show from the three dealerships in town, live entertainment, and great food. The Pet Contest will be back and we can't wait! Early Oct. 6th will be the 5K Run and Walk. We are so excited to have SEORMC with us this year in the planning of the 5K. One new item this year will be the Brew BQ on Oct. 20th. The event will feature two micro-breweries and beer tasting is included in the ticket price plus you get dinner. On September 22, our main street will be alive with cars from the Morgan Club. Be sure to come down and see these unique cars in person. I want to give a special thank you to Bonnie Perkins and Julie Johnson Hillery. Bonnie opened her house and gardens for our annual Garden Party. What a superb event!! Julie came all the way from Chicago to give a talk on "Visual Merchandising" to the public. Thank you, Julie for a great learning experience. As you can see there is "lots to love" about Cambridge Main Street Penny GOAL FOR 75 New Members From Our Treasurer We received our first car donation and Bob Fahey at Fairdale Auto Sales took to his auction house. This is a win-win for everyone because CMS is a 401C3 Organization the person donating car can take retail value of donation to accountant when preparing taxes and may be able to write off that value on their taxes and CMS will receive the funds from the auction. Cambridge Main Street is also requesting photos of downtown buildings from the past in the historic downtown area. Even if building is no longer standing, we will enjoy the memories. Please bring to Donna. From our Director Ann It s so hard to believe I have been your Cambridge Main Street Executive Director for a year! It has gone by so quickly! I like the feeling of saying well last year we did. And I can draw knowledge from the experience. All I can say is this is an amazingly dedicated group of people who care about their historic downtown district and it shows. As we encounter the growing pains of an economy that is turning around in ways we could never have imagined in our beautiful city, Cambridge Main Street continues to answer the call to action. The dedication and commitment in our community is immeasurable. As we head into autumn, our calendar is filled with opportunities to showcase our heritage that continue to breathe energy and excitement into downtown Cambridge in the effort to accomplish the mission of delivering energetic, fresh and quirky experiences and realize the vision of a vibrant downtown with an abundance of activity. As a resident, I say thank you for all you do and the director, I say, I am honored to be a part of you. Donna Let s Welcome all new members and thank all those members that have already sent in their renewals. A Big Thanks to all. The mission of Cambridge Main Street is to enhance the business and residential environment in downtown Cambridge by balancing historic preservation with economic development while retaining and enticing entrepreneurs; and to create positive partnerships that promote an attractive and cultural downtown district. Our vision: A historic and vibrant Cambridge downtown district with an abundance of visitor and resident activity, embraced by preserved architectural integrity.
2 The Committees Keeping Us Informed July September The Promo Committee Mark your calendars now for Saturday November 24th. The Christmas Parade will return to Saturday evening thanks to everyone that voted in our recent poll online atyourradioplace.com. New this year there will be Candy Land immediately following the parade for the little ones on the Courthouse Lawn. Due to the safety of our children there will be no candy thrown during the parade and Candy Land is a much safer way for the kids to enjoy the parade and everyone will receive a bag of goodies with a visit with Santa. The 27th Cambridge Classic Cruise- In Car Show was huge success! WOW. what a show we had in downtown Cambridge on August 18th. I would like to thank Cambridge Classic Ford for sponsoring our show again and our hard working volunteers and judges. A big thank you goes out to Cambridge Rotary Club for all their volunteers again this year. Next year s show will be August 17th.This is one you don t want to miss! The Design Committee: The Design Committee wants to remind everyone about the following: *That order forms for the Christmas greenery in September will soon be going out and all orders will have to be in by September 30th. *That they are also putting out a flyer to encourage the community to donate to our flower basket fund for next year's flowers. CMS 50/50 raffle: our annual raffle will begin September 1 st. The ticket price has decreased to $50 per ticket and if all 500 tickets are sold the winner will get $12,500. The drawing will take place October 20 th at our first BrewBQ event. You don t have to be present to win. CMS announces it first ever BrewBQ event. The event will take place October 20 th at 6437 Bloomfield Road in Cambridge. There will be Micro Beer tasting, food, music, and friends. Help us make this event a success, buy your ticket now ($30 per person) and plan on coming and having a great time. The Farmer Market: The Farmers Market is going well. Salsa tasting day was rainy but people still came out and a few even tried the salsa. Items are changing at the market we are starting to get apples, pumpkins, lots of great potatoes and other late summer early fall produce. September 7th United Way will be downtown doing their kick off lunch and I am sure that will bring more people downtown. September 21 is Kids day and we will be joined by artist from the Southeastern Ohio Art Guild, they will be on East 8th and will be there all day. October 26th will be the last farmers market for the year and it will be customer appreciation day.
