2 WELCOME TO OUR ARK GUIDING MESSAGE The Ark Guiding Message declares our Purpose, Vision and Mission. It also details the Strategic Drivers that deliver them and the Values that we must live by to be a High Performance Organisation (HPO). This powerful alignment of our purpose and values coupled with our strategic intent will serve to steer all our decisions, our actions and our behaviours. Our Guiding Message is the standard that draws us together. It is the understood Ark discipline that defines us to the outside world and creates the internal cohesion necessary to achieve and exceed our goals. 5 WE DELIVER THE HIGH INTEGRITY DATA CENTRES THE WORLD REQUIRES We - Ark, the team, and the high performing partnerships with our suppliers, investors and customers. Deliver - Design, build, operate and innovate world class Ark data centres, on time and on budget. High Integrity - From our people s expertise to the tenure of land, compliance, diversity of power and fibre, total cost of ownership, security and financial backing, high integrity is at the very heart of who we are and what we do. Data Centres - We are focused on our core competence; the provision of high integrity data centres - buildings, power, cooling, security and smart hands services. We are not an information technology company. The World - Our current customer base is UK centric, but we operate and impact on a global scale. There are three parts to our understanding of the World, and we service them all. Economy - The demand for data storage is growing exponentially. We deliver the lowest total cost of ownership (TCO) in the UK Society - Our customers include both government departments and private sector businesses - we secure the data for all of society Ecosystem - Our data centres are hugely efficient with the lowest power usage, recycling water management, minimal environmental impact and innovative environmentally aware solutions. Requires means that we must be active in our industry, to have a view of what is needed from modern data centres and instigate the necessary innovation and advocacy.
6 OUR VISION As an HPO to be recognised as the UK s leading provider of high integrity data centres by 31 December 2017 We are making a commitment to become an HPO and consistently out-performing our peer group in all areas. For us, recognised means; Our customers, partners, suppliers and staff will tell us through our collaborative feedback programme Being at the top of Gartner s UK Magic Quadrant for data centre providers Achieving HPO status as measured by the HPO diagnosis from the HPO Centre Achieving Gold Status in the Investors in People programme.
7 OUR MISSION To be profitably contracted for the delivery of 60MW of power by 31 December 2017 Our Mission delivers the leading provider part of our Vision. We are a business. To invest in the continuous improvement of our offering, deliver real value to our customers, compete with our competitors, pay our business partners, provide a return to our investors and reward our team, we must generate revenue, optimise our cost base and thereby maximise our profit. This is a simple statement of fact for every business. Our Mission Statement is our key business performance indicator; it is our specific, measurable, achievable, relevant and time bound (SMART) target that drives all activity, and demands that we operate as a truly high performing team. OPERATIONAL EFFICIENCY Our Operational efficiency is reflected in our service, with a lowest total cost of ownership (TCO) in the UK, an annualised lowest power usage efficiency (PUE) driving our customer s costs down and minimising our impact on the planet. As growth focused pioneers, we intend to always improve. Operations is our engine room where service and innovation meet and are brought to life. Excellent execution delights, retains and allows us to grow our customers and our people. We control risk by having a transparent culture, a robust grasp of what confronts us, its likelihood and impact and effective mitigation plans. With discipline, we deliver on all our operational commitments to our customers and constantly strive to improve and offer great service and value.
9 HIGH PERFORMANCE ORGANISATION The foundation for our strategic drivers is that of becoming an HPO, where we will develop the quality of our management and workforce, create an environment of openness and action, pursue a long term orientation and deliver continuous improvement across the business. We are working closely with the Centre for High Performance to achieve this. COMMERCIAL EFFICIENCY Our Commercial Efficiency comes through the combination of our sales excellence and our commercial agility, giving Ark an enviable market leading edge. If operations is the engine room, then sales provides the fuel. Ark has a disciplined, vigorous and engaging sales team, that listens to our customers needs and are knowledgeable and compelling in advancing Ark solutions. Ark s commercial agility stems from its consistent endeavour to proactively work through potential commercial blockers in advance and creatively work to find win/win outcomes and ensure that our governance is fast and effective. We must always be capable, consultative and a breath of fresh air to do business with. PIONEERS A future focused innovative portfolio optimising current capabilities and seeking out the new. Ark s high integrity data centres lead the market for security, build, reliance, cooling, power usage and sustainability and Ark will not stand still. As an HPO, Ark s focus on continuous improvement will enable us to identify and drive significant developments and rapidly adjust our offerings. To this end, Ark will continue to build strategic partnerships with industry, customers and centres of excellence to ensure we gain the best insights into market needs, trends and industry advancements.
