1 Welcome to Jefferson Township Little League (JTLL). Baseball and Softball season is quickly approaching and we couldn t be more excited about it! Enclosed is the 2014 registration information required for participation in JTLL. Please make sure that you take a moment to read all of the information, complete all pages, and return to JTLL as soon as possible. Below is a list of tentative dates for important JTLL events. All dates and information are subject to change. JTLL winter conditioning clinic -- TBD JTLL Opening Day event Saturday, April 12, 2013 (weather permitting) Team Pictures TBD June Lottery --Mandatory Fundraising Event Golf Tournament Sunday, June 1, 2014 Fall Ball --starting in September for all ages Registration Fees: Registrations received on or before 2/14/14 - $60/player ($55 for each additional child). Registrations received between 2/15/14 and 2/28/14-$75/player ($65 for each additional child). Registrations received after 3/1/14 - $75/player (no additional discounts). No registrations will be accepted after 4/10/14 In addition to the registration fee, each player MUST sell six (6) June lottery tickets. No family will be required to sell more than 10 tickets. Registration will be held at the Jefferson Elementary School on Saturdays in January and February from 9 a.m. to Noon, if school was held the previous day. You may also mail your registration checks, payable to Jefferson Twp. Little League or JTLL, to, Jefferson Twp., PA NEW for 2014: Any child attending Jefferson Elementary School is eligible to register at JTLL. Please remember that original birth certificates are required for all new registrations. A non-resident application requires a school ID. Acceptable ID s are report cards or school-issued IDs. 5 Mandatory June Lottery Fundraiser JTLL depends upon registration fees and fundraising initiatives to fund all operational costs and capital improvement projects. Please understand that the June Lottery is considered to be part of each player s registration fee. The June Lottery fundraiser is tied into the Pennsylvania Lottery daily number at 7 p.m. during the month of June. Each ticket will have a three (3) digit number. If a ticket matches the daily number (straight) drawn at 7:00 p.m. on Sunday through Friday, the ticket holder will win $ If a ticket matches the daily number drawn at 7:00 p.m. on any Saturday in June 2014, the ticket holder will win $ Also, on each day, one number above and one number below the drawn daily number will win a consolation prize of $ Example: If the drawn number is #123, then the ticket holder of #122 and the ticket holder of #124 win $10.00 each. JTLL s Treasurer will mail a check to each lottery winner. Jefferson Township Little League Age Groups League age is determined as of May 1 of each year NOTE: The JTLL board of directors may decide the age-cutoffs within each age group Players who are league age 4 6 are eligible to play T-Ball Players who are league age 6 and who have played T-BALL for one season are eligible to try out for a 7-8 coach-pitch team Players who are league age 7 12 are eligible to be selected to a Minor League Division Team Players who are league age 9 12 are eligible to be selected to a Little League (Major) Division team Players who are league age are eligible to be selected to a Junior League team. 6 Volunteer Manager/Coach JTLL is looking for individuals who are interested in becoming a manager or coach for the 2014 season. Managers and coaches must be adults who are sensitive to the mental and physical limitations of children of Little League age, and who recognize that the game is a vehicle of training and enjoyment, not an end in itself. We are looking for strong leadership in those who manage or coach at JTLL. A solid knowledge of the game of baseball is only one characteristic, more importantly, we are looking for strong leaders with excellent communication skills who are willing to dedicate a substantial amount of time to our players. Our expectation is that managers and coaches are willing to practice 3-4 days per week prior to the season and 1-2 days per week during the season in addition to games. Anyone interested in becoming a coach, manager, or any volunteer needs to complete the volunteer application and pass a background check. Volunteer Concession Stand A parent/guardian of each child is required to work in the concession stand at a minimum of two (2) games. The schedule will be made by the participant s coach. If you have a conflict with a scheduled date, you may switch with another approved volunteer. A volunteer application must be submitted to work the concession stand. JTLL Monthly Meetings are the 3 rd Sunday of each month and are typically held at the JTLL hut. Page 6 of 13

7 2014 Little League Baseball and Softball Model Release I, (Parent/Guardian Name) of (Address) hereby give permission to the Jefferson Township Little League (JTLL) to use photographs and video taken of me and/or my child in any public, media release, commercial venture, advertisement or promotional announcement, electronic or otherwise. I agree that neither I, my family, nor any organization is due any compensation if such images appear in any publication, media release, commercial property of Little League Baseball or Softball, Incorporated. I understand that Little League Baseball/Softball Incorporated, may supply this image for use in any commercial venue or advertisement not published/produced for/by Little League Baseball/Softball. 8 2014 PLAYER REGISTRATION INFORMATION 1. I/We, the parents/guardians of the above-named candidate for a position on a Little League team hereby give my/our approval to participate in any and all Little League activities, including transportation to and from the activities. 2. I/We know that participation in baseball or softball may result in serious injuries and protective equipment does not prevent all injuries to players, and do herby waive, release, absolve, indemnify, and agree to hold harmless the Jefferson Twp. Little League (JTLL), Incorporated, the organizers, spongers, supervisors, participants, and person transporting my/our child to and from activities from any claim arising out of any injury to my/our child whether the result of negligence or for any other cause. 3. I/We agree to return upon request the uniform and other equipment issued to my/our child in good condition as when received except for normal wear and tear. 4. I/We understand that our child (candidate) may be required to try out for a team. If such does not attend to tryouts, local Board-of-Directors approval is required for such candidate to be placed on a team 5. I/We understand that our child (candidate) may be chosen at any time to play on a Major Division team, if he or she is of the correct age for such division as determined by the local league and Little League Baseball. Declining to move up to such Major Division team will result in forfeiture of eligibility for the Major Division for the current season, and may be subject to future restrictions by the local league. 6. I/We agree to provide proof of legal residence (as defined by Little League Baseball, Incorporated) and age. I/We understand that our child (candidate) must be eligible under the residence and age regulations of Little League, Incorporated, to participate in the Jefferson Twp. Little League (JTLL), and that if any controversy arises regarding residence and/or age, the decision of the Charter Committee in Williamsport shall be final and binding. I/We further understand that if any participant and/or team on which he/she participates may be decreed by action of the Charter Committee or Tournament Committee. 7.
