10 What types of trainings and clearances do your staff have? All staff submit background clearances through WSP and DEL. Staff are certified in CPR/First Aid and BBP. Ongoing trainings include safety, activity planning, building relationships and positive communication. What if I need to cancel a week/day? Canceling is easy, just submit your cancellation in writing to our sign in desk or via to chare@ymcaspokane.org, please remember to cancel by Wednesday prior to camp. Cancellations will result in a $10 administrative fee. Can my child bring electronics to camp? We ask that children not bring electronics or cell phones to camp, our goal is to provide a true camp experience and to unplug. If electronics are used as part of an activity we will provide them. We also prefer children not bring personal cell phones as we are unable to monitor texting and web browsing. If you have any questions regarding cell phones please contact your Program Director. Where do you go swimming and are there lifeguards? We swim at various locations, including the YMCA, City & County Pools and area lakes. There are certified lifeguards at all locations where we swim. Do I have to drop my child off at 6:30am? No you can drop off anytime between 6:30-9am, for safety and to maintain child/staff licensing ratios we ask that all children be dropped off by 9am at the latest. Due to staff/child ratios during field trips we may not be able to accept children dropped off after 9am. What time can I pick up my child? We prefer you pick your child up after 4pm so they may participate in all the daily activities. If you need to pick up earlier in the day and we are offsite you may pick up directly from the field trip location. Busses return from field trips at 4pm unless otherwise noted. Fun Clubs, can I switch every day? Fun Clubs are designed by weekly themes, campers choose a club each week. Why do I need to bring an immunization form? We are required by Washington State DEL to have an immunization form on file for every child who attends camp. 9
