3 Asmak s Aquaculture Operations Asmak has operations across the GCC, with its largest facilities in the and presence in Bahrain and Saudi Arabia. Operations Headquartered in Abu Dhabi, Asmak is invested in seeing the become its largest aquaculture base in the region and to contributing to the country s food security. The company owns and operates a pond-based farm in Al Ajban, Abu Dhabi producing sea bream, hamour, barramundi and tilapia. The farm has the capacity to produce 600 MT of fish per annum. Asmak is also in the process of establishing another 600 MT per annum capacity off-shore cage farm on Delma Island, off Abu Dhabi primarily to augment the growing demand for our products. The new farm is stated to produce sea bream, subaiti and barramundi species for the and GCC markets. To further assist with the government s restocking programme, and to establish a research centre that will allow for the development of new species, Asmak is also developing a land-based, fully integrated recirculation system farm in Abu Dhabi with a starting capacity of 2,000 MT of aquaculture products. It is expected that the outfit s capacity will expand to 4,000 MT per annum by the second phase of development. Apart from farming, the facility will also include a state-of-the-art hatchery facility to produce 25 million juveniles. Bahrain Operations Saudi Arabia Operations Asmak has a state in Awal Fishing Company W.L.L., a hatchery operator in the Kingdom of Bahrain capable of producing 4 million juveniles per annum, with the capacity to expand up to 6 million. The hatchery is the first and only one of its kind in the region providing Asmak with a secure, sustainable and continuous supply of juveniles. The hatchery produces juveniles for sea bream, subaiti, barramundi and hamour species, which are marketed largely to Asmak s farms in addition to other aquaculture farms. In addition, the hatchery also contains a research center to develop new fish species with specific focus on indigenous species. Asmak owns the majority share in an off-shore cage farming facility located at Umlajj in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The farm has a production capacity of 1,500 MT per annum and is primarily engaged in producing sea bream, subaiti and barramundi species. The products from these farms are distributed in KSA, Jordan, Egypt and the markets.
