2 You are expected to have A large ring binder folder A block of lined A4 paper Plastic wallets and card dividers Highlighters or colour pens Commitment and enthusiasm Good organisational skills Good literacy / language skills Access to a German dictionary Good grasp of German tenses You are expected to Complete an additional 1 2 hours or independent study/assessment prep per double lesson Complete all homework (set each lesson) Be organised and keep a tidy folder Work hard Systematically revise and review new vocabulary and grammar points / structures after each lesson Read around the subject to broaden understanding or address misconceptions

(contemporary language content for learners of German) Listening (short news clips of around 9 ½ minutes aimed at children. Great for language and culture) morgenpost.de (online version of daily German newspaper that's great for keeping up to date with all the latest happenings in and around the country) und trends.de (all the latest news on fashion, tourism, food, sport, art and much more) Music (an easy and fun way to learn and improve your German skills through music videos and the lyrics of your favorite songs. You will need to set up an account) (discover the amazing world of German music and find out why German music rocks! Listen to podcasts about the German music scene, watch the video clip of the month, watch music videos and download lyrics and worksheets, look at the German charts) (German children s songs and rhymes) Grammar (online grammar reference and exercises linked to the imaginary world of Grimm Grammar) (an online newspaper aimed at children. 9 Assessment objectives The exams will measure how students have achieved the following assessment objectives. o o AO1: Understand and respond: in speech to spoken language including face to face interaction in writing to spoken language drawn from a variety of sources. o o AO2: Understand and respond: in speech to written language drawn from a variety of sources in writing to written language drawn from a variety of sources. AO3: Manipulate the language accurately, in spoken and written forms, using a range of lexis and structure. AO4: Show knowledge and understanding of, and respond critically to, different aspects of the culture and society of countries/communities where the language is spoken. Across assessment objectives AO1 and AO2, no more than 10% of the total marks for the qualification may be used for responses in English, including translation into English. Assessment objective weightings for AS German Component weightings (approx Assessment objectives (AOs) %) Overall weighting (approx %) Paper 1 Paper 2 Paper 3 AO AO Assessment in German takes place frequently and is based on examination materials. All assessed work will take place in lessons and will be marked by the following lesson. You are expected to make improvements to all assessed work. All work submitted must be your own. Any evidence of plagiarism will be taken seriously and parents will be contacted. Continued plagiarism could result in you being removed from the course.
