1 WORKSTATION CONFIGURATION FOR NEW GALILEO MANAGED VPN SITES WINDOWS 98 GENERAL NETWORK CONFIGURATION Ask the customer which workstation the primary Scriptwriter person in the office will use. That person s workstation should be setup first as WS1. Note: If you installed more than one workstation at a time at a new installation, or a site where you have upgraded the software on the workstations to Focalpoint Windows 95/98 you will receive a Protocol number 0, error 38 message. This is because the workstation image defines each workstation with the same computer name of WS1. Press ENTER to boot past this error when displayed 1. On power up the first screen to display will be the Network Password screen. 2. The default name of WS1 will display, use WS1 for the first workstation, WS2 for the second workstation etc. Leave the Password field blank. 1
2 3. Click OK, The Network Components Screen will display 2
3 4. Click the Identification Tab. 5. Use the default name of WS1 for the first workstation, WS2 for the second workstation etc. and change the Computer Description to match the Computer Name and then click the Configuration tab. 3
4 6. Double click on TCP/IP. The TCP/IP Properties screen will display 4
5 7. Click on Specify an IP address. Press Tab and type in the IP Address and Subnet Mask for the workstation using the information from the Agency Configuration sheet. Note: The addresses shown are only examples. 5
6 8. Click the Gateway tab. Input the gateway address and click Add. Note: The address shown is only an example. 9. Click the DNS Configuration tab, click Enable DNS and in Host field type the name of the workstation. 6
7 10. In the DNS Server Search Order field type , click Add. Type and click Add. These addresses are DNS server addresses for AT&T (the DSL circuit provider). 11. Click OK to close the Network Components screen. When the screen below displays click Yes. 7
8 12. When the workstation reboots the Focalpoint TCP/IP Configuration screen will display, type in the Client Identifier for the workstation. 8
9 13. Click Use Fixed Configuration Server Addresses. 14. Type as the Primary Address. Type as the Alternate Address and click OK. Note: The Client ID shown is only an example. 15. Click OK to change the Date, Time and Time Zone to the correct settings and click OK. 9
10 16. From the Windows desktop right click on Internet Explorer and choose properties. 10
11 17. Click the Connections tab. 18. Click LAN Settings. 11
12 19. Uncheck Use a proxy server for your LAN. 20. Click OK. The Properties screen will display, click OK. 21. From the Windows desktop double click the Focalpoint icon to start Focalpoint. When Focalpoint starts the Focalpoint Configuration Download Status box will display. If the Download is successful, the text Process Completed Successfully will display in the box. Note: If the workstation download is not successful, verify the Workstation addressing from the General Network Configuration section of these instructions, and the Focalpoint TCP/IP addressing from the Focalpoint Configuration section of these instructions. If the workstation will have a Globalware cable connection, refer to Appendix G in the Focalpoint Windows 95/98/XP manual for special instructions. If the site will be using the Viewpoint Mapping CD, refer to Appendix I in the Focalpoint Windows 95/98/XP manual for installation and configuration instructions. Continue onto Network Printer Setup Procedures starting on page 8-24 in the Windows 95/98/XP manual. Then go to page 8-40 for the Winkit installation procedures. Follow the instructions in Section 9 of the Windows 95/98/XP manual to install and configure Focalpoint Print Manager with one exception. Use as the Primary Server address and as the Alternate Server address. 12
13 FOCALPOINT 3.5 WINDOWS XP CONFIGURATION 1. The Windows XP Setup Wizard screen will display, click Next. 2. The Computer Name and Administrator Password screen will display. Type WS1 as the computer name for the first workstation, WS2 for the second workstation etc. Note: DO NOT CHANGE THE ADMINISTRATOR PASSWORD. 3. Click Next. 4. The Date and Time Settings screen will display, set the date, time and time zone to the appropriate settings and click Next. 5. The network components will be installed, final settings changes will be made and the workstation will reboot itself. 6. After approximately 20 seconds the Focalpoint TCP/IP Configuration Screen will display. 13
14 7. Type in the Client Identifier for the workstation. 8. Click Use Fixed Configuration Server Addresses. 9. Type as the Primary Address. Type as the Alternate Address and click OK. Note: The Client ID shown is only an example. 10. Left Click the mouse once to close the Start menu. 14
15 11. Right click My Network Places on the Desktop and click Properties. 12. The Network Connections screen will display. Right click the Local Area Connection icon and click Properties. 15
16 13. The Local Area Connection Properties screen will display. Double click Internet Protocol (TCP/IP). 14. The TCP/IP Properties screen will display. Click Use the following IP address and type in the appropriate IP, Subnet Mask and Default Gateway (router) addresses. In the Preferred DNS server field type , in the Alternate DNS server field type These addresses are DNS server addresses for AT&T (the DSL circuit provider) and click OK. Note: The IP address, Subnet Mask and Default gateway addresses are only examples. 15. The Network connections screen will display, close the screen. 16
17 16. Right click the Internet Explorer icon on the desktop and click Properties. 17

19 19. Uncheck Use a proxy server for your LAN and click OK 20.. The Properties screen will display, click OK. 21. From the Windows desktop double click the Focalpoint icon to start Focalpoint. When Focalpoint starts the Focalpoint Configuration Download Status box will display. If the Download is successful, the text Process Completed Successfully will display in the box. Note: If the workstation download is not successful, verify the Workstation addressing from the General Network Configuration section of these instructions, and the Focalpoint TCP/IP addressing from the Focalpoint Configuration section of these instructions. If the workstation will have a Globalware cable connection, refer to Appendix G in the Focalpoint Windows 95/98/XP manual for special instructions.
