1 Matlab TAH student - installation steps The main stepping stones in the installation process are: Create a MathWorks account (connected to your KU Leuven student mail account). Connect your MathWorks account to the KU Leuven license (using the KU Leuven activation key). Download the software. Install the software. Create a MathWorks Account The installation of the Matlab software requires that you have a MathWorks account (MathWorks is the software company behind Matlab). If you do not have a MathWorks account, you first need to create such an account. Step: Go to the MathWorks site ( Step: Create a MathWorks account and connect it with your KU Leuven student ! Click on the link Create Account A form will show up and you have to fill out the mandatory fields. 1

2 Important: You must use your KU Leuven student address (eg. to be able to associate your account to a license. When you create your profile you have to select: 'Academic use (including campus/site license use)' in the section 'Software Usage Information'. 2

3 Also fill out the University: KU Leuven Some additional information can be entered A verification step will check your KU Leuven student mail 3

4 Check your mail account and click on the link to verify and validate your address. A message will appear when the operation is successful. 4

5 Associate with the KU Leuven license Step: Get the KU Leuven Activation Key Enter your MathWorks account. In the lower part of web page, click on Associate with a License A new window will show up, and click on Add license 5

6 Associate using an Acivation Key Enter the Key (is the key that is available on the KU Leuven website ) 6

7 Download the Product files Once associated with the license, you can download the software. In the main page of your MathWorks account, a link to Downloads is available. 7

8 Or in the license view A new screen will pop up Select your platform, and a download wizard will start. Keep in mind that the size of the download is large (>4GB). 8

9 When you choose the first option, all the toolboxes for the latest release will start to download. When choosing the second option, you can already make a selection of which toolboxes your are willing to install (this can limit the download size). A download agent will start and will store the download the software on the location that you ve chosen. 9

10 Install the software Double-click on the installer (matlab_r20nnn_nnnn_installer.exe) to launch the installer. When prompted, log in to your MathWorks Account, select the license you want to install, and provide the information requested on each screen. Start the installer, several files will be unpacked and the installation wizard will start. Check the option Install using the Internet Click Next to continue, your computer will contact the MathWorks website. Accept the license agreement 10

12 Use your MathWorks account to provide the installation information (login with yoyr student mail account) Click Next to continue Select the license to install in the next window (919011) Click Next to continue Choose for a Custom installation so that you can choose the toolboxes that will be installed. If you choose a Typical installation, all the toolboxes that are available in the download will be installed. 12

13 Click Next to continue, next you have to specify the installation directory, you can accept the folder that is proposed 13

14 An overview of all the products that will be installed is given and the installation will start when Next is pressed. 14

15 Click Install to start the installation. After installing the software, an activation is required. 15

16 Click Next to continue. Use the Activation Key to activate your license. 16

17 The Windows User Name will be filled out, if not enter the user name that you use to enter your computer. A confirmation overview is shown. 17

18 Now, you can start using the software. 18
