1 Connecting to Hospira s FTP Server To transfer files to and from Hospira s FTP Server requires a connection to ftp.hospira-transfer.com. Several commercial and shareware File Transfer Protocol (FTP) software products are available for Windows-based PC and Macintosh computers. Alternatively on a Windows-based PC, users can connect to FTP sites using the Windows Explorer. This document offers instructions on connecting to Hospira s FTP server using both methods mentioned. Once you have a method of connecting to the Hospira FTP Server, you will require an account with a user name and password to successfully connect to the server. If you have forgotten your username or password, go to and click on Forgot Password to have your account information ed to you. User Rights and Navigation Once you have been granted access to the Hospira FTP Server, a folder will be created on the server, named with your address. Limited Access Account If you have been granted a Limited Access account by Hospira, your account was designed to share files with you and you will be able to upload and download within your folder. Standard User Account If you possess a Standard User account, you will have access to upload and download files within any folder as well as delete files from your folder. If you upload files to another party s folder, that person will receive an notifying them that you have placed files for their access. Files that you upload will be available for download for a period of 30 days after which time they will be permanently removed from the server. Page 1

2 Connecting to the Server using Windows Explorer On a Windows-based PC you can connect to the Hospira FTP server using the Windows Explorer. Although the following instructions were created with Windows 7, this method should work on Windows XP and Vista as well. First open two Windows Explorer windows. (From the Start menu, select All Programs, then Accessories, then Windows Explorer.) In one Windows Explorer Window, navigate to the directory that you wish to transfer to or from. In the other Windows Explorer Window, type ftp.hospira-transfer.com in the address bar. Page 2

3 When prompted, type your username and password in the dialog that appears. Once you are logged in, if you possess a Limited Access account,, you will see the files that have been uploaded for your access. If you possess a Standard User account, you will be taken to a directory containing all of the user folders. You can double-click a user s folder to enter it. Page 3

4 Next you can transfer files by dragging from one window to the other. You can delete files from your folder in the same manner as you can on your local computer; right-mouse-click and select delete. If you possess a Standard User Account, you can upload files to other user s folder and they will receive an notifying them that you have shared files with them. Page 4

5 Connecting to the Server using FTP Software If you do not currently possess a FTP application you have several options available to you. Cyberduck is a reliable open source FTP software product that can be downloaded for free at: This document will use Cyberduck to demonstrate how to connect to the Hospira FTP Server. Although other FTP applications may have a different appearance, they all work in a similar manner. Once you have launched Cyberduck, click the Open Connection icon. In the dialog that appears, first confirm that FTP (File Transfer Protocol) is chosen in the drop-down field. Next type ftp.hospira-transfer.com in the Server field, then enter your Username and Password. Click Connect. You may see a window informing you of Unsecured FTP connection. You can click Continue or alternatively click Don t show again and then click Continue to avoid this message in the future. Page 5

6 If you possess a Limited Access account, when you log in, you will be taken to your folder where you can download files that have been uploaded for your access. You can download files by dragging them from the window or alternatively choose the Action drop-down menu for more options. If you possess a Standard User account, you should now see a window similar to the one below. You can double-click any folder to enter that directory. Once you are in the folder, you can drag files to and from this folder or alternatively select the Action Drop-down menu and choose from the options available. If you upload files to another user s folder, they will receive an notifying them that you have shared files with them. Page 6
