1 Own Your Innate Healing Gifts A Guide to Reclaiming Your Unique Brand of Magic Dabney Alix One of the hardest things about anomalous experiences is not having them recognized or validated, which can often lead to them being overlooked, feared or just lying dormant. For many people who experience an opening be that called spiritual emergency or a psychotic episode, there s no turning back. We must learn to be with these sensitivities and integrate them into daily life. Not having the tools and training to use these gifts, abilities or sensitivities is what creates unintentional imbalance. The fear and stigma of repeated trauma can keep these abilities locked up and only increases the internal pressure, which then causes further susceptibility to later breaks. Without mentorship and use of these gifts, the integration process can slow to a stop and make it difficult to continue on your spiritual path. The key is not in further activation of the spiritual energies, but in learning to manage your own spiritual and energetic dials so that the activated spiritual energy can necessarily orchestrate your healing process in alignment to all of who you are and your life purpose. After coming full circle with my own spiritual emergency(ies), training for years as an energy healer and shamanic practitioner and mentoring many emerging healers, I have found that the first step to move out of fear and into embodiment of your gifts is to begin to recognize them not just as one time experience or something that happened to you, but as initiatory rites that you have been given. Once these gifts are cultivated and honored they can develop into tremendous personal power to heal the self and others and as well as allow you to walk an awakened life.

2 Below you will find a list of common Innate Healing Gifts that are often experienced in extreme states or spiritual crisis as well as a few tips to safely grow further into these innate healing gifts. Increased Empathy is most often experienced as feeling or knowing what another person is thinking or feeling. In many cases, this is a good thing, except when you ve been opened up such that your sensitivity to others becomes overwhelming. The gift in being empathic is having a keen sense of the emotional temperature in any space or situation. This enables you to shine the light of awareness where others may have blind spots and is a superpower in the teacher/student, healer/client relationship. Clairvoyant Vision is often experience through seeing entities including angles, deceased relatives or energetic archetypes in the spirit world. This gift is also expressed in the ability to see holographically which is often described as the ability to visualize information stored in a person s light body (aura) that may pertain to past life, current life or future life experiences. Sometimes these visions are accompanied by shifts in consciousness or sensations such as body chills. Clairaudience is o ften considered a form of channeling and can be experienced through hearing voices or sound vibrations. If you have the gift of clairaudience consider yourself lucky! It is an indication of your aptitude for perceiving the non physical auditorily. You may find you are particularly in tune with the healing capacity of music and can easily receive information about people and situations through messages or a voice in your own mind. You likely have a strong connection to your own intuition and inner voice and can receive clear guidance around decisions. To develop this skill, simply ask to your guides or higher self to help you learn to recognize the language so you can more readily communicate.

3 Journeying can be experienced in a variety of ways such as through out of body experiences, becoming animals, plants or objects in nature, experiencing other realms, astral travel, shamanic travelling and more. If you have experienced any of these, it means you have the ability to segment your consciousness and project it outside of normal time/space dimensions to experience an awareness of non local places and spaces. Go you! This is an especially tricky innate healing gift to have as you don t want to unintentionally go wandering into the deep end without knowing your way back. To grow this skill safely, you must first be rooted firmly in your body. Your job then is to ground, ground, ground. Then, heal the trauma that keeps you from being fully in your body and then ground some more. After that, consider learning simple shamanic journeying. Clairsentient Healing is a fancy way of saying you ve had the experience of knowing how to heal yourself or others. You may have seen or felt chi, light or healing energy come from your hands. Congratulations! You have the innate healing capacity that was felt by Jesus, the founder of Usui Reiki and many other enlightened masters. Careful to not let your ego run away with this. This ability can manifest in a variety of ways such as being able to perform psychic surgery, past life healings, energy clearing, working with guides and angels, etc. The list goes on and on. Here s the cool thing about this innate healing gift, there is no modality that can teach you this and in fact, all certifications and modalities you might learn will only be a repetition of what is inherently already within you. It s just about unwrapping it. Once you re tapped into the intuitive healing realms, techniques become useless. You may decide to become a world famous energy healer or you may decide to give your cat a blissful experience every once in a while. There s no wrong way. Channeling and Mediumship are two POWERFUL gifts that can really throw people off at first. There are many cases of psychosis in which a person has re triggered an old trauma, left their bodies as a result and become susceptible to a foreign entity moving into their physical space. Yikes! Freaky, huh? Here s the cool thing though, if you ve experienced this then you have an

4 incredible gift and the trick is to learn to discern what to allow through your channels and when. Once you do, it means you have the capacity to channel the heck out of good stuff, like unconditional love, joy, ease, peace, messages for other people you name it! It s sort of like having an all access pass to the spirit realm and being able to bridge between worlds. As you may have already guessed, this is one of those DON T TRY THIS AT HOME gifts. Exploring this one is best done in the company of a well trained Shaman who is skilled in psycho pomp and depossession work. There are as many innate healing gifts as there are people. Above is just a short list of some of the most common capacities. Others include: Direct experience of God/Oneness Communication with plants and animals Heightened intuition Ability to bend time Condensing energy into form (or manifestation) Downloading ancient wisdom or teachings without ever studying them Communicating deities and archetypal figures So many more 6 Key to Creating Balance as You Re Open 1. Moderate the aperture of your abilities so you are not overwhelmed by input, both from external sources and internal sources. One of the best ways to do this is by using your conscious intent to create a filter such that you only receive information that is most relevant to your life. Conscious intent is your most powerful tool for working within the subtle realms. 2. Develop your spiritual team of guides who can offer healing, protection and guidance along your path. After all, these are spiritual experiences we re talking about, so it s a good idea to have guides from the realms you are looking to navigate think home turf. 3. Give yourself a place where you welcome these experiences. For example during meditation or during dreaming. This will help create solid boundaries between your normal mundane life and your extraordinary experiences. Creating good habits and boundaries here will enable you to contain the work within the boundaries of these spaces and stop the spill over that often gets people in trouble.

5 4. Develop your own sense of safety and security by strengthening your root chakra so that you are not so easily thrown off when big energies do move through you. 5. Learn to work with your energy field. Sharpen your discernment of what is your direct experience and what you are indirectly experiencing because you are so open. Learn to clear your field, create boundaries and modulate the relative degree of openness of your chakra system top to bottom, bottom to top. Once again, this is done using your conscious intent and practice. 6. Find a mentor. Many of these abilities are already within you. However, having someone assist you in navigating this terrain can be extremely helpful in providing a safe container. Without this safe container, you may become fearful or overwhelmed and contract further from your gifts. You have been given these experiences for a reason. The greatest service you can give to yourself and for the world is to learn to use them. The difference between an experience that is terrifying, painful and disruptive and one that is expansive and transformative lies in your ability to skillfully navigate non ordinary states and your own ego s tendency to commandeer your experience. You are not the first person to be initiated through crisis and you certainly won t be the last. In the face of a society that does not understand, recognize or value this process, I invite you to find the support, mentorship and community that can take the place of a traditional tribal container for you to grow into your leadership and gifts.
