2 ABOUT ANNA HELLO AND WELCOME TO THIS REPORT ON THE 9 ESSENTIAL STEPS TO DEVELOPING YOUR PSYCHIC HIC ABILITIES. My name is Anna Conlan. I m m a professional psychic, which means that I spend my days giving psychic readings and teaching psychic development to others. I was born and grew up in the UK but I now reside in New Zealand and work with clients all over the world. Although I have always been fascinated ascinated by the supernatural and I ve been learning about psychic development since my early teens, I didn t grow up wanting to be a professional psychic. I actually lly began my career studying French and Spanish at the University of Oxford, UK and graduated in I then went on to become a French and English teacher. teacher I taught in France and in Northern Spain, but soon realized that teaching languages wasn t for m me and instead trained to become a professional intuitive. I had many psychic experiences growing up, but it was only when I trained to do readings for others that my abilities showed up with more consistency. The report you are about to read is a summary summary of the lessons I ve learned in several years of honing my psychic abilities and three years of doing professional readings for others. The advice in this report is written by someone who makes a living from their intuitive abilities and who is constantly ntly improving and developing their psychic awareness in a hands hands on way. 3 INTRODUCTION I HOW DO YOU DEVELOP PSYCHIC ABILITIES? I get asked this all the time. n fact, I d say it s the question I get asked the most, by readers, students and clients. Sometimes I struggle to answer this question, not because I don t know the answer, but because it is a very big question. Unfortunately, there isn t a secret one piece formula you can use to develop psychic abilities. There are many things you need to do in order to get to a place where you can use your psychic awareness to help you in your life. The formula for developing psychic abilities involves a collection of exercises, techniques, knowledge and a great deal of practice. There is so much you can do to develop your psychic abilities that it gets very hit and miss for people they often don t know where to start. That is one reason why I wrote this report. The other problem with developing psychic abilities is that often you need to be careful about which order you do the exercises and techniques in. If you begin with an advanced technique before you ve laid the groundwork, you will fail before you have even begun and that can be very discouraging. A ROAD MAP FOR DEVELOPING YOUR PSYCHIC ABILITIES In this report, you will find nine essential tips and practices that you can do to improve your psychic abilities straight away. Please note that this report is designed to get you started and to inform you of what you need to do and learn in order to successfully develop your abilities. I am not guaranteeing that you will develop your psychic abilities overnight nor am I suggesting that reading this report will give you psychic powers. Please think of this report as a roadmap not a vehicle for getting you there. If you are looking for the vehicle (concrete exercises and techniques) for developing your abilities, in this report I point you towards some of my free articles as further reading ( I also recommend books). At the end of this report, I will also tell you more about my Psychic Awakening course for developing psychic abilities. 3

4 But before I dive into HOW you can develop your abilities, let s talk about why you might want to. THE BENEFITS OF DEVELOPING PSYCHIC ABILITIES Having psychic abilities allows you to: Save time, energy and money on the small things Avoid paths which are going to be dead ends for you See beyond your logic and understand the why of the events, people and situations that show up in your life Make decisions without agonizing or hesitation Know what is going to bring you joy and fulfilment and what isn t, before you try it. You want to learn to read auras & know who other people really are Let me talk about some of the emotional and practical benefits in my own life, of having psychic abilities. Firstly, these days I always feel guided by spirit and protected (and this is a totally different story from how I felt a few years ago!) One reason for my feeling safe is that I always know who people are before I get to know them or speak to them. I can quickly avoid people I wouldn t want to associate with and surround myself with people who are trustworthy. This is great in my business because I am able to know who people are before I employ them to help with certain aspects of my business. I can also sense danger and trouble a mile off. Plus if I am in distress or upset, I can tune into my Spirit/Higher Self and get some perspective on the situation which always makes me feel better and helps me to resolve things. Every month, I know which actions and paths are going to lead me towards success and fulfilment professionally in my business and personally. I am not telling you this to boast. I am telling you this to let you know what is possible when you tap into your psychic gifts. And of course, my intuition isn t infallible. Let s not be unrealistic about it. I m not omniscient (nobody is!) I don t know everything because I have psychic ability. But I am led by my spirit in my life and things are so much better than when I was led by my fear. HOW MOST PEOPLE LIVE In our Western Culture, we are not used to listening to our spirit or taking action based upon what our intuition says. Western culture, with its emphasis on science, does not encourage or promote listening to something so intangible, especially something that comes from within. Instead, our scientific, rational culture encourages us to gather 4

5 evidence and guidance from many places and then weigh it up. That is a very reasonable approach. On the other hand, intuitive guidance is not reasonable and does not gather information from many sources, so it is often considered an untrustworthy source of information. As a result, we often doubt or second guess our intuitive guidance and we do not communicate it to others. After all, if others ask us to justify our responses or back up our information, all we can say is that we just know it, or that our intuition is telling us. I don t know about you, but in my experience, most people want to hear concrete facts, backed up with evidence. So we often learn to keep our mouths shut when we know things (without knowing how we know.) Let me tell you a story from my own life to illustrate this tendency most of us have to repress intuitive insights. When I was visiting Australia about one year ago, I developed a rather painful infection. I promptly visited the doctor who prescribed antibiotics. As the doctor wrote me the prescription and handed it to me, I just knew that the antibiotics she was prescribing weren t going to work. I wanted to tell her that the antibiotics would not work but I felt crazy and had no reason to say such a thing. After all, antibiotics usually worked for me. As I repressed what I knew, I felt really discouraged and annoyed at myself. But I deferred to the doctor s superior knowledge, took the prescription and went home. In the next 24 hours, the infection got a lot worse and the antibiotics made no difference. I called the doctor to make another appointment and as soon as I rang they informed me that the results of my tests were back, and I happened to be resistant to the antibiotics they gave me. I needed to go back to get a different prescription. My feelings had been correct and I realized that even as a professional intuitive, I still hadn t learned to trust my intuition and voice it in all circumstances. This story is fairly typical for us all. Every day we repress and down play what we know to fit in with other people and to seem reasonable. Yes, we have minds and we have the use of our reason. But we are not just reasonable beings, we are also intuitive beings. Yet our Western culture does not teach us to honour our intuitive impulses or those of others. As a result, we can swing to the other extreme we can end up deferring to guidance and opinions outside of us or being led by our ego or fear. Learning to listen to your intuition and psychic awareness means that you are led not so much by fear or ego, but led by your spirit. This breeds courage, growth and faith in the 5

6 universe. That is why psychic, personal and spiritual development cannot be separated. When you develop your psychic abilities, you grow as a person and you grow spiritually. But you probably already knew those things, right? That s why you re here, reading this. Now I will give you the nine essential steps to help you to develop your psychic abilities and develop your connection to your own spirit. T STEP #1: KNOW WHERE GUIDANCE COMES FROM he spirit world is populated by beings of all different types, just like the human, third dimensional world. You wouldn t take advice from any old person in the street to help you make decisions in the human world, and similarly you don t want to summon just any old entity in the spirit world to advise you. Just because a spirit is not in a body doesn t mean they re a worthy source of information. Yet when students of psychic development first open themselves up to the psychic realm, often they just get information without knowing where it s coming from. Sometimes people ask me: Should I trust this information? You can avoid being in that position when you start out. Instead, you can begin by initiating the dialogue between you and your sources of guidance. You don t have to wait for information and intuition to come to you, and then not know where it is coming from instead you can initiate the connection and get guidance only from your chosen sources. Before I talk about how you can initiate the dialogue between you and your sources of guidance, let s get clear on what those sources of guidance can be. YOUR HIGHER SELF/YOUR SPIRIT I am going to start with the most important source of guidance YOU! You, as a spiritual being, are a tremendous source of wisdom. Of course you aren t just a spiritual being, you have a mind and a body too and these give you a lot of input all the time. The kind of input your spirit can give you is quite different from the input the mind and body gives. 6

7 Your body and mind give input based on their wants and needs the needs of the body and the needs of the ego. That is perfectly reasonable as we are all human. Let s talk about the needs of the Spirit (or or sometimes called the Higher Self.) The Higher Self gives intuitive input based on its needs and plans for you which tend to be the following: love, plenty of stimulating growth experiences, the need to help others and make an impact, the desire to be comfortable and be around beauty and the desire to be free. The needs of the spirit are not the same for all of us, but they tend to be along those lines. If you follow the needs of the mind and the body, you may reach fulfilment in the short term. However, if you follow the voice of your spirit, it will certainly direct you down the path of a fulfilling and growth filled g life experience in the long long term. Unlike your mind, your spirit is not limited by an earthly perspective, so it can see in this long term long way. It sees the bigger picture, like an eagle sitting on a mountain top, looking down at the valley below. The mind is down in the valley and it cannot see the wood for the trees, so it must make choices based on very present present needs, past experiences and logic. This is why another reason we listen to the spirit it sees much more than the mind can, whe when it comes to the bigger picture of your life path. Its perspective is complete and full of wisdom that really does serve you in the long term. long Let s talk about another important source of guidance. YOUR SPIRIT GUIDES In addition to your spirit as a source of guidance, there are your spirit guides. Everyone has a number of guides who accompany them on their journey through life. We usually have between four and eight guides in our inner circle. circle Our primary spirit guide is with us from birth. The rest of the guides tend to join our spirit guide team throughout childhood, in teenage years and early adulthood. In addition, there are temporary guides who come and go throughout your life, as you need them. The assistance assistance of the guides can be practical in nature for example, they can help to connect you with resources you need (if you call on them and request that they do this) or their assistance can be more spiritual in nature. The inner circle of guides is around you you all the time and these are the guides you work with and talk to the most. In addition to your inner circle of guides, you have an outer circle circle PSYCHIC BUT SANE VISIT PSYCHICBUTSANE.COM

8 The outer circle of guides is very busy. There are seven guides in the outer circle, each one in charge of a specific area of your life. These guides are more difficult to communicate with mainly because they are not involved in the smaller details of your life here. Here are the seven guides you will have in your outer circle: THE CHIEF OUTER CIRCLE GUIDE this guide is like the manager or CEO of your entire spirit guide team. This guide manages and coordinates both the inner, and outer circles, as well as temporary guides and other non physical teachers who come and go. THE GATEKEEPER GUIDE is the guardian of your soul memory and personal Akashic Record file. This guide will help you to open your memory files when you need to. When I refer to memory files I mean the collection of your experience, wisdom and knowledge over all your lifetimes. THE TIMING GUIDE this guide helps to coordinate the timing of synchronicitous events and experiences. THE KARMIC GUIDE is responsible for helping you resolve karma for this lifetime. THE CREATIVE GUIDE helps you to develop talents and connects you to aesthetics. THE ASHER GUIDE is the guide that that has the purpose of protecting you energetically (as far as you wish to be protected), a little like a bodyguard guide. THE ASTRAL GUIDE this guide accompanies you during your astral time, when you re asleep and helps you to stay safe in the astrals. f Your inner circle and outer circle work together to provide you with support to help you to follow the path and life lessons you set out for yourself before you arrived here on Earth. Rest assured that the advice you get from your spirit won t conflict with what comes from your guides. They all work in harmony. Your spirit guides are like extra support for your spirit. If your Spirit/Higher Self is like an eagle sitting on the mountain top, viewing the valley below, your inner circle of spirit guides are like eagles, each one on a different mountain near your own mountain, viewing the valley from a different vantage point. They each have a different way of seeing, a different way of being and different energies to bring to you. One spirit guide may help you in particular with a certain life lesson such as lightening up and not taking life too seriously, another may be a comforting, nurturing and 8

9 supporting influence just like beloved relatives or family members who all bring different energies, support and life lessons to you. YOUR GUARDIAN ANGELS Everyone has at least a few attending guardian angels who give comfort and guidance. Angels and Spirit Guides do fulfil similar roles in our lives. The main difference between Guides and Angels is that angels have never incarnated as humans before. Spirit Guides are often a little closer to our human experience than angels are, because they have incarnated as a human being in previous incarnations. You can communicate with both groups using the same kind of techniques. Spirit guides do have a specific role, which is to guide you in your human experience, according to what your Higher Self wants to experience. Angels on the other hand are incredibly powerful and loving beings and can be called upon for many purposes. They are bringers of positive energies on a grand scale. For example, one angel may specialize in bringing you strength at a time of difficulty. Another angel may specialize in loving and healing energies. So, these are the sources of guidance that you want to call upon. It is good to begin your path of psychic development by calling upon these beings and actively engaging with them. You may be wondering how you can do that. All you need to do is set an intention to connect with your sources of guidance. Just begin by calling on and naming your sources of guidance: Your Higher Self, Spirit Guides and Angels, and asking them to provide you with guidance and assistance. You can do this out loud or write down your request. Once you have done that, don t forget to thank them. The words don t matter too much it is the intention that counts. Remember that even if you can t hear them, they can hear you and they will hear your requests. WHY SHOULD YOU HAVE TO ASK FOR GUIDANCE AND HELP FROM SPIRIT? Isn t Spirit all knowing and all seeing? Doesn t spirit know what you need before you need it? Yes, that is true. However, your spirit guides are not going to provide guidance or assistance you haven t asked for, consciously or unconsciously. This is because you have free will. You do not have 9

10 to engage with your spirit to improve your life in fact, many people never do. As a human being, you have that choice to ignore spirit or to engage with spirit. That is the way your free will works here on Earth. So your spirit is not going to impose its guidance into your experience if you don t ask for it that s why exercising your free will and requesting is powerful and does make a difference. M STEP #2: MEDITATE AND CULTIVATE INNER CALM editation is a great tool to help you to develop your psychic abilities. The purpose of meditation is to help you to cultivate stillness in your mind. Psychic guidance cannot come through when your mind is very busy. Instead, it exists behind the mind, and shows up before your thoughts have a chance to butt in. By meditating, you create more spaces for psychic guidance to come through. By meditating, you are also training your mind to become more still, so that in future you can access your intuition on demand. You will not be able to access your intuition on demand if your mind is untrained and perpetually busy. You can meditate simply by sitting upright and observing your breath. Focus on the breath as it goes in and out of your nostrils. You do not need to stop any distracting thoughts that arise as you do this just bring your attention back to your breath again if you have a thought. You may find that meditation is difficult to do if you have never done it before this is quite normal. The first time I attempted to meditate I only managed about 20 seconds! If you find that your mind is full of nothing but distracting thoughts, try journaling before you begin your meditation sessions so that you explore and resolve some of those thoughts beforehand. Another way to train your mind to become more still is to listen to binaural beats. This is one of my favourite tools to create stillness before doing readings (as meditation is not my favourite thing to do!). 11 Psychic Iff you have trouble creating stillness in your mind, you may be interested in my Ps Awakening course which has an entire module (with a guided audio process) devoted to cultivating the inner stillness needed to tune into your psychic abilities. STEP # #3: ASK QUESTIONS O ne of the most common reasons for not receiving any answers is that you are not asking questions. Many people meditate and then expect the intuitive guidan guidance they need to be offered to them on a plate once their thei mind is clear. Iff you do this, iit might come to you but more likely, it won t. Questions focus your energy and get answers. So meditate AND ask a question you re much more likely to get a focused, relevant response. If you have questions on your mind and you want spirit to answer them, don t just think about them write them down on a piece of paper and officially ask for the answers. answers Actually making the conscious request for an answer moves more energy than wondering about the question in your mind. STEP #4:: BE FLEXIBLE ABOUT HOW YOUR ANSWERS RS COME F rom time to time, I come across a student of psychic development who belie believes that they must get their guidance in a limited way for example, only through visions, visions or voices ( I used to believe this too!) Psychic abilities include a wide array of gifts. Among these gifts, we have: CLAIRVOYANCE this is the ability to see spirit Clairvoyants usually see in their mind s eye. Your mind s eye is the movie screen that exists in your h head ead when you close your eyes. CLAIRAUDIENCE This is the ability to hear the voice of your Higher Self or the voice of your Spirit Guides. 12 CLAIRCOGNIZANCE this is when guidance and information just pops into your brain like a divine download. This can happen when you know something about someone without knowing how you know. Maybe you are the kind of person who gets great ideas popping into your head seemingly from nowhere (these are all signs of claircognizance.) Claircognizance can include the subtle (but accurate) judgments and assumptions you make before your logical mind even has time to think. CLAIRSENTIENCE Clairsentience means clear feeling. It is perhaps the most down to earth of all the intuitive gifts. Most people use clairsentience on a daily basis. This looks like your feelings sending you intuitive guidance. For example, you may experience a feeling of discomfort and then intuitively feel impulsed to look behind you only to see someone staring at you. Clairsentience also includes physical sensations. PSYCHIC EMPATHY this is not the basic empathy that most human beings have I am referring to empathy as a psychic gift. Psychic empathy is the ability to temporarily leave your experience in spirit, enter someone else s auric (energy) field and experience what life is like for someone else. As an example, before I ring a coaching client, I may tune into them empathically beforehand. When I tune into my client, I feel a sense of upset and upheaval in my emotions. My claircognizance tells me that there has been some big changes in my client s personal life. When I speak to the client, I discover that his long term romantic relationship has suddenly ended. This is empathy the ability to feel what someone is currently feeling. There are many different types of empathy including emotional empathy, physical empathy (this is the ability to feel what is going on in someone s physicality), animal empathy (an ability to immerse yourself in to the experience of an animal) and spiritual empathy (where you can feel who someone is on the soul level.) DREAMING When you go to sleep, you leave your body at night and fly in spirit to visit the astrals. Dreams are real events which take place in the astral planes around our planet (there are seven positive and seven negative astral planes). The astral planes are not in the ether (i.e. the other side ) but they re not in this plane either. In a way, it s like a half way house between the spiritual and the physical. Because the astral plane is like a half way house between Heaven (the ether) and Earth, dreams are an important part of our spiritual life something that keeps us connected to spirit. Therefore dreaming is an easy way for spirit to get a message to you. Most people dream when they go to sleep at night. But most people do not recognize messages from spirit in their dreams. f 12

13 In order to become more flexible in your mindset and open to spirit, you will need to experiment with all of the gifts above. You can use visualizations to tune into your Spirit Guides and Higher Self. You can channel (without visualizing anything.) You can use automatic writing or you can dowse with a pendulum. You can use angel oracle cards or tarot cards. These are just a few very well known techniques for receiving information. It s a good idea to experiment, try as many methods as possible and then use the one you like the most. My favourite method is automatic writing. To start you off, here is a basic article I wrote on how to do automatic writing: 13

14 In my course, I teach four different ways to tune into Spirit. This is because the more methods you can try and experiment with, the more likely you are to find one that really works for you. Practice really is the key to developing your abilities! Please know that psychic ability is not a switch you flick once. In many ways, it s like learning a language you need to keep practising if you want to stay fluent in the language of spirit. The more you do it, the better you get at it. STEP #6: GET TO KNOW YOUR HIGHER SELF AND/OR SPIRIT O GUIDES ne way to expand your psychic awareness is to ask another intuitive to tune into your Spirit Guides and to describe them to you. I used to do this as part of my psychic development coaching course. It really helped students because by knowing what their spirit guides looked like, they were able to envision them easily when they travelled to their sacred meeting place to converse with their guides. KNOW THYSELF One way of expanding your intuitive awareness is to get to know yourself better all facets of you. Remember that you are made up of many facets. There is your lower mind (the human side, or sometimes called the ego), your physical body, your emotional body (or heart) and your Higher self. Conventional wisdom and religion teaches that the Divine is outside of you. This is not so. Your Higher Self is not outside of you it is you! And it is the wisest part of you. You might like to think of your Higher Self as a part of you that you can engage at any time to channel wisdom. By visualizing a meeting with your Higher Self, you can discover what your Higher Self looks like. The Higher Self is sometimes also referred to as your magical personality that which is magical, defining and unique about you. 14

15 Your Higher Self or essence may present in a few different ways (after all, you are a multi faceted being). Sometimes, my Higher Self looks like a gypsy girl. I am freedom loving so I am not surprised my spirit presents to me as being like a gypsy. Other times my Higher Self has presented as looking like me, wearing a dress made of every colour imaginable. Other psychics have seen my Higher Self as looking like an old, wizened man. Try closing your eyes, meditating and asking your Higher Self to show up in your mind s eye. What does your Higher Self look like? Another way to get to know your Higher Self is to use automatic writing techniques to ask yourself questions like: What does my spirit want? What are my values? Who am I? Why am I here? You may be sceptical about whether you could glean anything insightful from doing this, but suspend any disbelief and try it. Underneath, you know who you are, but we are often taught to play down our gifts and sense of purpose in the name of modesty or practicality. When you do this automatic writing exercise, let go of all modesty and inhibitions after all, no one is going to read it but you! This exercise is helpful because when you are in touch with your needs, values and desires as a Spirit, you are more likely to recognize the impulses and guidance that come from your spirit. Further reading online about finding your values: Y STEP #7: FOCUS ON YOUR PSYCHIC ABILITIES ou have probably heard the saying what you focus on expands. This is true of your psychic development. The more energy and attention you give your psychic abilities, the more they will expand. Here are some tips to help you to focus more of your attention on your psychic awareness: 15

16 1. Create physical space in your life for communication with Spirit One way to do this is by setting up a sacred altar in a corner of your home. On this altar, you could put images of Spirit Guides or angels. You could also put symbols on there, such as representations of the four elements for balance earth, fire, wind and water. You could also find images of your favourite Deities or Goddesses (such as Mother Mary, Buddha, Ascended Master Jesus, to give a few examples) and place them on the altar. Having this altar in your home is a physical representation of the space you are making in your life for Spirit. 2. Set aside time for connecting with Spirit I have taught very busy students who had very little time in their life for connecting with spirit. The best way to get around this is to MAKE time for spiritual connection as a habit. The time won t make itself in my experience you usually have to carve it out! Just five minutes in your day is enough to tune into your Higher Self or Spirit Guides. 3. Put reminders of the Spirit realm in your everyday life and routine One way to do this is to watch TV shows and films that showcase psychic abilities even if they re fictional. When I was starting out, I found that the more I watched TV programs like Medium, the more psychic experiences I would have. It doesn t matter if the show is fictional or even unrealistic. The more focus you put on psychic abilities, the better. 4. Use affirmations While you are meditating, repeat affirmations such as I am profoundly clairvoyant, I am profoundly clairsentient or I am a powerful psychic. You can make your own according to the gifts you want to develop and improve. T STEP #8: TAP INTO YOUR TRUE MOTIVATION his is a very powerful exercise: Find out why you want to develop psychic abilities. The reason why this is powerful is because it aligns you consciously with your true motivations. 16

17 People s motivations for developing their abilities are many and varied. Maybe you just want to improve your own life and save time, energy and money here and there. Perhaps you want to know who other people are and make wiser decisions when it comes to relationships. Perhaps you are even interested in using your abilities to help others. Brainstorm and write a list of all the benefits for you of potentially having psychic abilities. Then spend three minutes visualizing daily the benefits of having psychic abilities what you are able to do and who you are able to help (even if it is yourself!) Visualizing is also good for awakening clairvoyance. Plus, any kind of daydreaming and visualization activates your desires to make it happen and take action on your dreams. T STEP #9: REMEMBER THAT PSYCHIC DEVELOPMENT TAKES COURAGE his report on psychic abilities would not be complete without some acknowledgement of how much courage is needed in order to communicate with Spirit and be open about it. Why does psychic development take courage? Firstly, because ACTING on intuitive impulses can be scary and requires faith. Secondly, because other people often won t understand or accept your interests in psychic development.
