2 What is Therapeutic Recreation? Use of treatment, education, and recreation services to help people with illness, disability, and other conditions. Utilize various interventions to treat physical, cognitive, social and emotional conditions to improve overall quality of life.

4 EDUCATION Enables individuals to become more informed and active partners in their health care by using activity to cope with stress of illness. Assist with managing their disabilities so they achieve and maintain optimal levels of independence and enter into the community life.
5 RECREATION To help promote health and growth in a rewarding and enjoyable manner. Assist with avocation and obtaining adaptable equipment.

13 How does a client get started? Referral is made by case manager, supports coordinator or social worker by phone, fax, or secure . A Life Therapist will contact the family/guardian to set up an initial evaluation. Following the evaluation, a treatment plan and goals are developed and immediately submitted to care provider. Treatment sessions begin on a weekly basis.
