2 What is The Inside Ride? Coast to Coast Against Cancer Foundation presents the Inside Ride, Canada s first indoor, and occasionally outdoor, cycling celebration and fundraising event dedicated to raising monies in support of families and children with cancer. We hope you will embark on this extraordinary one to two hour indoor cycling activity with us that is fun, safe, team-based and promotes volunteerism and encourages physical activity. Becoming involved in The Inside Ride provides opportunities for businesses, organizations, universities, colleges and high schools to get involved. The support of organizations like yours is vital to our success. Together, we will improve the world for families and children with cancer How does The Inside Ride Event work? The Inside Ride is an organized stationary cycling event that we bring to you, which is set up generally indoors. Between twenty and eighty state of the art racing bikes, are mounted and held stationary on trainers, with mileage and speed gauged with odometers. Each cyclist rides for five or ten minutes to fun, fast-paced, uplifting music. As cyclists rotate through the event, they are cheered on by teammates, friends, colleagues and spectators. Volunteers record team mileage, organizers score costumes and team spirit, the celebration is on! There are medals at stake for outstanding team fundraising, team spirit, team costumes, team mileage and male and female fundraising achievements. Hosting organizations and their participants will raise money through workplace fundraising events. Cycling teams and members reach out to family, friends and colleagues for pledges. Organizing teams are usually composed of one or two staff, from executives, to social committees, health & wellness teams, or your own event staff. Our event life cycle process brings your organizing team up to speed with a fully detailed organizer package, brings awareness about childhood cancer into your workplace, and introduces your community to one of the most vibrant and engaging events there is. Online registration, reporting, and fundraising boosts your potential to make a real difference in the lives of children and teens living with and beyond cancer. Our practices, awareness, and team building augment workplace spirit and engagement, and health & wellness initiatives.

3 What does it Cost? How do you pay for the Event? The Inside Ride is free for high schools, universities and non-profit workplaces or community organizations. LG Electronics and New York Fries are the sponsors that cover the costs of these events so that we can maintain our 100% donation model. For-profit organizations are asked to fund event costs through a $3200 non-receiptable donation/registration fee. The value is that when your participants ask family, friends and colleagues for donations, they can truly say that none of their donations cover event costs; that 100% of donations pass through to the childhood cancer charities we support. What are the Fundraising & Team Minimums? The main activity of the Coast to Coast Against Cancer Foundation is to execute professional cycling events to raise and grow reliable, year over year funding for childhood cancer charities. We make commitments to these charities to raise certain amounts so they can count on us. Because of our 100% donation model, we must keep our costs low to not use up sponsor funds before we ve met our annual commitments. We are evaluated by Canada Revenue, our sponsors, and donors, as to how well we raise funds and how much fundraising we do. For that reason, our larger adult outdoor road cycling events have firm fundraising minimums and higher registration fees. Those fees are set to cover actual rider costs so donations are not used for event costs. In workplaces, The Inside Ride is positioned, scheduled and supported as a significant event. It is a professionally organized and executed event brought to your location. Workplaces have between 10 and 50 teams at events, colleagues. Workplaces raise between $15K and $300K. Our minimum is 10 teams and/or $6000 in fundraising. We ll do our best to work with you to make your event the success it deserves to be. To protect our sponsor funding to ensure we raise the funds we are committed to annually, we reserve the right to cancel or reschedule an event should there be less than 10 teams. Fundraising guidelines per participant range from $75 generally ($400 - $600 per team).

4 How to Get Involved! Step One: We Present to your Organizing Team Members of The Inside Ride crew provide your organization with a working presentation on The Inside Ride program. Participants will learn about the impact their participation will have on the lives of families and children with cancer and why your help is needed. This working session prepares your organizing team with the information to hit the ground running with project management tools and guidelines derived from close to 450 events over six years. Step Two: Set Your Inside Ride Launch Date Work with us to book your Inside Ride event and set your launch date. This launches your registration and fundraising efforts into high gear. We can present to your organization or provide an blast tailored to your event. With online registration, forms, and great posters, you can t help but be successful! Step Three: You Fundraise Tools and tips support you in your individual, team and organization fundraising efforts. Online fundraising is by far the most successful method for easily and securely raising funds. The other successful method is just talking about it, sharing the message. 100% of donations raised go to the cause. You are fundraising to support Kids. Kids helping kids, it s a powerful and valuable message, share it! The money you raise will go towards supporting where the needs are greatest and include, funding of family support programs, research, local pediatric centres, research, pediatric oncology camps, and other areas which contribute to inspiring hope and helping children reach their destination beyond cancer. Our foundation works directly with these organizations to determine the funds required to support their priorities and the work that they do. Step Four: You Ride Participants and spectators gather in your location on the designated date and time as we kick off The Inside Ride cycling event with a special dedication. Then 6 riders per team, take turns spinning for five (5) minutes each, with non-stop music to keep you going. It s an hour or so out of your day and it generates a year s worth of conversation, smiles, team bonding, and photos to remember it by.

5 Step Five: You are Rewarded The Inside Ride is truly a meaningful day for all the right reasons. But we always take the extra step and give away medals!! The team with the highest combined mileage The team with the best costume The team with the best team spirit The male and female and volunteer that raise the most money The team that raises the most money Excellence in event execution engages all participants Frequently Asked Questions Q1. Do I need to train to participate in The Inside Ride cycling celebration? You don t need to train specifically to participate in The Inside Ride. However, we always recommend you try to meet the minimum daily physical activity requirements outlined in Health Canada s Physical Activity Guide for the promotion of health and wellness. Q2. What should I wear to participate in The Inside Ride? Riders should wear comfortable clothing that allows for movement. We recommend shorts and t-shirts. Pants with fitted or elastic leg bottoms are also acceptable. Do not wear multiple layers of clothing or heavy costumes while riding. Q3. Will I be able to ride the bike for that long? Use the first two minutes as a warm up then ride at a pace that is comfortable for you. This event is a celebration of your team s accomplishments to volunteer, fundraise, donate, and participate. Pace yourself to have fun! Q4. What should I eat and drink before The Inside Ride? Nutrition and Hydration is a valuable part of being physically active, learning at school, feeling well, and growing properly. Refer to Canada s Food Guide by searching online for Eating Well with Canada's Food Guide. Q5. What are the bikes and the pedals like? Will I know how to operate these bikes? The bikes are state of the art road-racing bikes mounted on stationary trainers which are set on mats to eliminate drift or vibration. Your bike volunteer or Inside Ride Crew Leader will tell help you to adjust the seat height, and work the odometer. Q7. I finished my turn on the bike, what do I do now? Congratulations for taking part, having fun, and being active! Now it s time to cheer on your team mates after they cheered you on.

6 Q8. What forms of donations are accepted? Cash and cheques are all acceptable forms of donations. We highly recommend Online donations through your secure event website. Donors do all the data entry for you and receive their tax receipts immediately to their . Q9. Who do I make my donation cheque payable to? How do my donors get their tax receipts? Cheques to be payable to The Inside Ride. Tax receipts will be issued by the Coast To Coast Against Cancer Foundation for donations of $20 or greater. Full mailing addresses are a federal requirement to issue a tax receipt and must be captured online or on the pledge sheets. Electronic tax receipts are issued immediately with an online donation of $20 or more. Donations submitted by cash or cheque with fully documented pledge forms are issued electronically generally within 16 weeks of the event. Tax receipts will be mailed by Canada Post where addresses are not provided. Where Do Donations Go? In Canada, over 10,000 children are living with some aspect of cancer or its long term effects. Another 1,400 children are diagnosed with cancer each year that s 4 or 5 per day. The treatment and cure for these children is a round-the-clock process, lasting 3 or more years. It s an exhausting journey that can displace many childhood joys. We raise funds to programs and charities that improve the survival rates and quality of life of children and their families living with and beyond cancer.
