Kommissonens arbete med Strategic Transport Research Agenda (STRIA) Annelie Nylander Trafikverket 1
Strategic research innovation agenda - STRIA Det finns Junkerplanen för kommissionens arbete I den finns Energy Union En del av den handlar om Research and innovation (climate) Supporting breakthroughs in low-carbon technologies by coordinating research and helping to finance projects in partnership with the private sector Kommissionen tar nu fram en STRIA som ska svara för denna del av Energy union arbetet 2
What are we aiming for? The research, Innovation and competitiveness dimension aims at: -Promoting EU technological leadership in innovative low-carbon technologies -Aligning the EU, national and industry R&I agendas in energy, transport and competitiveness. -Maximising and combining the impact of key technologies toward the achievement of the Energy union goals. -Cross-sectorial approach on electricity & alternative fuels production, storage and use! -Avoid new (clean transport) silos; We need clean, smart, safe and secure transport with new mobility and business models! 3
Electromobility Electric batteries and hydrogen based vehicles, from mild hybridisation to full electric vehicles, all transport modes. Main technological avenues - Electric energy storage systems -Power-train technologies -Vehicles and vessels system integration -Safety aspects specific to electrification -Integration into transport system 5
Alternative fuels Renewable and non-renewable fuels are within the scope of the roadmap: Advanced biofuels LNG/CNG LPG Novel fuel technologies Assessment of the trade-offs of the uptake of alternative fuels across all transport modes. 6
Connected and automated transport -Innovative technologies, services, systems for connected and highly automated systems -Enabling infrastructure (physical, digital, C-ITS) -Transport system aspects (interaction with less automated/connected users) -Cyber security, privacy, data sharing 7
Vehicle design and manufacturing -Design and manufacturing of new, innovative powertrains and propulsion system -Use of next generation lightly-weight materials and innovative assembly capabilities processes -High added-value energy-efficient manufacturing optimizations of process 8
Transport infrastructure Adapt infrastructure to new vehicle technology requirements to allow a swift deployment of sustainable vehicles Accommodate and enable the transformation of the transport system (automation) Reduce environmental footprint of construction and maintenance operations New demand management and new business models Optimisation of multimodality and new concepts of hubs Increase durability and saftey, avoid congestion, support interconnectivity and modal-shift Innovative governance and funding schemes to speed up deployment of innovation Identify actions to create a more risk-friendly attitude 9
Network and traffic management systems -Intelligent, dynamic and effective cross modal / system-wide and traffic management addressing: Future traffic growth Rapid technological advances (e.g. C-ITS, automation, Big data) Evolving mobility patterns /users needs 8e.g ETA predictability, mobility services. Planned and unplanned events (e.g.. Olympics, accidents, weather) -Optimisations of network /traffic management against a range of Key Performance areas (e.g.. Safety, Environment, Capacity -Technological (e.g. systems) and non-technological aspects covered 8e.g operations/procedures, regulations, etc.) 10
Smart transport and mobility services - Smart transport and mobility services provided, including: Mobility services (incl. Planning, ticketing, information (public/private) parking, sharing etc. ) Mobility as a service on-demand multi-modality Connectivity and automation in an urban context New forms of urban logistics -Business models, profitability and scaling needs -Impacts on mobility behaviour rebound effects and wider transport system impacts (decarbonisation and safety) 11
Smart transport and mobility services - Smart transport and mobility services provided, including: Mobility services (incl. 13
Issues Papers för fem olika fokusområden: Enabling multi-modality and efficient freight transport logistics Intelligent transport systems New Technologies and Innovation for TEN-T Urban nodes/urban mobility Cooperation with third countries 14
