4 Chapter 1 Overview MIP HikAssistant plug-ins are provided by Hikvision for the Milestone Integration Platform SDK. They can provide basic services for the interaction between Hikvision devices and the Milestone server, convert the data in Hikvision protocol format to Milestone-defined format, and analyze the data obtained from the Milestone server. 1.1 Introduction The face applications include face capture, face picture comparison, and face picture search. The face alarms can be triggered by captured face pictures and face picture comparison results and uploaded by Hikvision cameras (including capture cameras and DeepinView series cameras), and then you can receive them on Milestone XProtect Smart Client. For captured face pictures stored in the facial recognition server, you can search for the face pictures by specific conditions, or upload a local face picture and set the similarity to search by picture. 1.2 Runtime Environment The software and hardware environment in which the Milestone XProtect client software can be installed and run are required, and the system environment for installing MIP HikAssistant plug-ins is the same as that for installing the Milestone XProtect client software with version The Milestone XProtect client software cannot be installed in the computer running with 32-bit operating system. For details about the supported runtime environment, refer to the User Manual of Milestone XProtect VMS. 1.3 Product Scopes The product scopes show the software versions, types, and models of Hikvision products that support interacting with the Milestone server by using MIP HikAssistant plug-ins. The recommended Milestone products are the client software of Milestone XProtect series with Corporate version 2018 or above. The following Hikvision devices are available for the face applications. 1

Optional: Click Details under a matched picture to view its details in a large window. 6.2 Search by Picture Besides setting search conditions such as age, gender, whether the person wears glasses, and whether the person is smiling, you can also upload a local face picture and set the similarity to search for the captured face pictures in the library by picture. Before You Start Make sure you have installed and loaded the face application plug-in in the computer running with Milestone XProtect Smart Client. For details about the installation of the face application plug-in on the Smart Client, refer to Install Face Application Plug-in on Smart Client. Make sure you have added the facial recognition server to HikAssistantService. For details, refer to Enable Face Alarm Receiving. Make sure you have configured the face picture library for comparison in the facial recognition server via web browser. For details about the face picture library configuration, refer to the user manual of the facial recognition server. Make sure the face alarms have been triggered and the captured face pictures have been uploaded. Steps 1. Log in to Milestone XProtect Smart Client. 2. Click Face Application tab and Search sub tab in the upper-right corner of the Face Application page. 3. Click Select Picture in the Search by Face Picture field to select a local face picture to be compared. The Similarity option in the Attributes field is selected and turns to required. 36
40 4. Set the value of the similarity. If the similarity between the uploaded local face picture and the face pictures in the library is larger than the configured threshold (by default, it is 80%), the matched face pictures in the library will be filtered. 5. Optional: Set other options, including age, gender, wear glasses or not, and smile or not, in the Attributes field as the search conditions. 6. Optional: Set the start time or end time to search for the face pictures captured in this time period. 7. Click Select camera to select camera(s). 8. Click Search to start searching by picture.
