1 Information Pack The AGS Gumball Rally enters its 2 nd year. This is a charity car run which in its inaugural year raised 38,000, so we have set the benchmark high. The event provides an excellent opportunity for participants to network with other insurance professionals as well as having some fun along the way. This information pack is here to provide you with all the information you should need for the event. CHARITIES: The principle objective of this event to raise money for charity. In 2014 we will again be supporting three very worthwhile charities splitting the funds equally across them. uk.org ENTRY: Entry to the event is by invitation only from the Gumball committee and there will be a maximum of 60 vehicles. Each team will be required to commit to raising a minimum of 2,000 for the Gumball charities. This needs to be raised (or you commit to donate this sum) by 1 st May or your place will be offered elsewhere to those on the waiting list. Your fundraising should be paid via setting up a fundraising page through We can provide some support with setting up your charity fundraising page for your team to assist your fundraising. VEHICLE CRITERIA: All vehicles must be at least 20 years old (pre 1994 / M Reg). Note there is no restriction on value this year EVENT DATE / ROUTE: The AGS Gumball 2014 will be held over the weekend of 27 th June to 29 th June. There is an optional leg on the 26 th June for those attending the I Love Claims conference. We will be undertaking a loop through Europe leaving from Essex travelling through Cologne, Antwerp and returning to Essex.
2 ITINERARY: Thursday 26 th June: Leg 1 (Optional) Coventry to Thurrock (125 miles) For those attending the I Love Claims conference at the Ricoh Arena, Coventry, we will travel down to the official departure point at Orsett Hall Hotel, Thurrock Thursday 26 th June: Pre Event Cypriot Bar B Q (Sponsored by Acorn Vehicle Solutions) From 7pm Acorn Vehicle Solutions will be hosting the evening with a Cypriot Bar B Q at Orsett Hall, Thurrock Friday 27 th June: Leg 2 Thurrock to Cologne (325 miles) 8.00am Meet at Orsett Hall, Thurrock for media opportunities and official photos 9.00 am Official Start Depart Orsett Hall travelling to Folkestone, where all participants should cross the Channel by Euro Tunnel am Catch Euro Tunnel to cross channel. Cost circa Train times leave 20 past, 36 past and 50 past the hour. From Calais we will travel to Cologne, Germany pm Haxenhaus (Sponsors Innovation Group & Audatex) A traditional German beer house, we will have exclusive use. There will be basic but traditional German stodge with plenty of beer Bars and Nightlife are within a short walk. Saturday 28 th June: Leg 3 Cologne to Antwerp (130 miles) am Depart from Cologne travelling the short distance to Antwerp, Belgium 7.00 pm Grande Cafe Modest (Sponsors Autoglass & Copart) The Hotel will arrange a shuttle bus to the restaurant. Named after Antwerp s master brewer, it is located in the centre of Antwerp. AGS Gumball will exclusive use of the ground floor. There will be a choice of warm and cold dishes in a buffet dinner with full open bar serving beers, wine, soft drinks and coffee. Sunday 29 th June: Leg 4 Antwerp to Thurrock (200 miles) am Depart Antwerp travelling back to Calais where all participants should cross the Channel by Euro Tunnel pm Catch Euro Tunnel to cross channel. Cost circa Train times leave 20 past, 36 past and 50 past the hour.
3 From Dover it is just a short drive back to Orsett Hall, Thurrock 7.30 pm Black Tie Dinner / Charity Auction at Orsett Hall (Sponsors AGS Risk Limited) Accepting that some Gumballer s may want to get away early, this event is optional and we would ask you to confirm if you will be attending asap. ACCOMMODATION: Booking accommodation will be your own responsibility. We have detailed below some options we have found as staying together will provide the best networking opportunities for you. Thursday 26 th June (Essex) I feel duty bound to remind you that we plan an early start on Friday! Appreciating that a number of you have a distance to travel and there is the additional attraction of the Cypriot Bar b q you may want to check in to a hotel on Thursday night. Orsett Hall, Thurrock There are a small number of rooms available at a rate of 99 ( There are other local hotels in the area including Premier Inn and Park Inn by Radisson Friday 27 th June (Cologne) Maritim Hotel, Cologne A large comfortable hotel in the city centre with secure parking. Rates range from Euros depending on room type There are a limited number of rooms on hold for Gumball participants. These rooms are on hold only until 28 th March. RULES AND REGULATIONS: A list of rules and regulations are attached. These must be signed by each person participating and returned prior to departure. Failure to return will result in non participation. T SHIRTS: All entrants to the AGS Gumball will receive a complimentary event t shirt kindly sponsored by Sixt Car Rental. EXPENSES: As this principle objective of the weekend is to raise money for charity, please note that with the exception of the sponsored evening events this rally is self funding. You will be responsible for the following during the event: Cost of Car Entry Fee Charitable Donation ( 2,000) Channel Train cost Fuel Car Insurance (see below) Accommodation (dependant) Food / Drink (outside of any sponsored events) Toll Costs (circa 80) Parking Fines if applicable!! VEHICLE SIGNS: We will be providing an AGS Gumball bonnet sign and Charity signs for your vehicles sponsored by HBC Vehicle Services. We would request these added to your car. We can provide art work if you would prefer to arrange for magnetic signs Please feel free to decorate your cars as you wish beyond this.
5 VEHICLE INSURANCE: Adrian Flux via Herts Insurance has kindly offered a seven day insurance cover. Please contact Herts Insurance direct on to make your arrangements quoting AGS Rally 2014 once you have your vehicle details. (please do not reference Gumball ) SUPPORT VEHICLES: We have already received confirmation that we will have two support vehicles to assist with any minor breakdowns. Our thanks go out to DWS Bodyworks and 4 th Dimension for provision of these vehicles. Contact details will be provided at the departure point. EU TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS: Complying with EU travel regulations each vehicle will need to ensure that they have the minimum standard requirements.
