3 INTRODUCTION Fire & Rescue Service (MFRS) is committed to innovative and imaginative change in order to help make our communities safer and stronger. We are committed to integrated working with other agencies to improve public safety and well being. In February 2006, MFRS became the first Fire & Rescue Service to be nationally awarded Beacon Status for Early Intervention (Children at Risk). This established MFRS as an international leader in youth engagement. Unfortunately, young people present the fire service with many challenges. By engaging with and educating young people, we can help create ambassadors for the fire service and provide an early intervention into anti social behaviour. 2
