2 PROVISION LEYTON ORIENT EDUCATION CENTRE We offer an extensive, professional and fun coaching and education programme to schools and colleges across the boroughs we work in - Waltham Forest, Newham, Redbridge, Barking & Dagenham, Hackney and Tower Hamlets. Offering a number of different sports during curriculum time, early morning, afterschool, early evenings, weekends and holiday periods our coaches offer specialist sport coaching such as football, basketball, handball, athletics and multi-sports as well as a whole host of other sports and activities. Sessions can take place either at your school or college, an agreed venue nearby or one of our existing sporting venues i.e. SCORE, Leyton. All sessions will be delivered by our highly trained fully qualified coaching and teaching staff, with enhanced CRB checks and Emergency First Aid and Child Protection Training (all certificates available on request). The state-of-the-art education centre is funded by the DCSF (Department for Cultures, Schools and Families), Waltham Forest local authority, the Football Foundation, Leyton Orient FC and Leyton Orient Community Sports Programme. Facilities in the education centre, which overlook the football pitch at Leyton Orient FC, include a fully-equipped ICT suite with both Mac s and PCs which utilise young peoples enthusiasm for sport and multimedia, in the motivating environment of a professional football club. The hub for Playing For Success, a free programme for Waltham Forest schools, aiming at raising levels in numeracy, literacy and ICT as well as self-esteem, confidence, motivation and independent learning. Also used during the day for several other daytime education programmes including a full time alternative education group, additional education group and the Orient Sports Coaching Award (OSCA) aimed at pupils aged
3 EARLY YEARS, SCHOOL & COLLEGE SPORTS SESSIONS Sport Sessions We offer an extensive coaching programme in a number of sports during curriculum time, afterschool, early evenings and holiday periods. Our fully qualified coaches will deliver sessions tailored to the requirements of each school and in line with the PE National Curriculum. Students will also be encouraged to attend additional sessions outside school boundaries with our term time player development, community and holiday period activities. These will include basic coaching drills, fun games, basic fundamentals, tournaments session and matches. There is also the opportunity to develop your after school club into a specialist player development session. These sessions look at player development; learning the rules and responsibilities as a player, understanding the different tactics and formations; ball control, sessions footwork (on and of the ball), position awareness (spacing) and balance; reaction skills, hand-eye co-ordination and teamwork Breakfast Clubs/Lunchtime Clubs: Provide multi-sport skills and playing Varies KS 1/2 20 max 30 per 6 x 1hr sessions opportunities for all age groups session Half Term Multisport Clubs: Provide ball skills; co-ordination and balance; basic rules; 1 week KS 1/2 Varies 850 Varies team work and building confidence; playing opportunities for all age groups

Citizenship - The Games, The Legacy** 5 weeks KS 2/3 30 max x 1hr 30mins sessions, A programme based around the citizenship national curriculum plus half day stadium tour using the theme of the Olympics and Paralympics. (optional) ICT - Skills Extra 5 weeks KS 2/3 15 max x 2hr sessions A more focused study support project based in Leyton Orient Education Centre. Students will use the latest ICT technology to complete a project including; clay animation, video-editing, music production, building a website, making a vodcast/podcast etc. The precise programme can be tailor made to the school s needs and can also incorporate literacy and numeracy activities. All programmes include a sports session before or after the classroom based activity. Participants complete units in football skills, warm ups, refereeing, mini-soccer, planning sessions and organising mini tournaments. *All timings can be adapted to suit your needs. Offering a flexible, multi-level programme this Award provides a standalone certificate of achievement as well as progression into nationally recognised Awards and Qualifications. Portfolio of evidence of activities and full training required. BTEC Level 2 Diploma in Sport and Leisure 2 years years N/A 1500 Varies A two-year course suitable for motivated Level 2 Year 10 students who are interested in per student working in the sports and leisure industry. Students will cover a number of theory and per year practical based units including:- Starting Work in Sport and Leisure, Working in Sport and Leisure, The Healthy Body, Sport and Leisure Events, Taking Part in Sport. This course is equivalent to 4 GCSE s at A-C level. Yr 11 Alternative Pathway in Sport and Leisure 1 year years N/A 4500 Weekdays A full-time educational programme for students in Year 11 who are not successfully per student accessing the mainstream curriculum and would benefit from a vocational sports-based programme. Students would complete a BTEC Level 2 Diploma in Sport and Leisure, Level One / Two Key Skills in Application of Number, Communication and IT, Sports Leaders UK Level One Award in Sports Leadership and a LifeRoutes PSHE qualification. Students would also attend a variety of off site physical activity programmes and additional courses in multi media production including music and radio production and an extended work experience placement. Students would attend a screening interview to assess their suitability for the course and parents would be expected to attend. *All timings can be adapted to suit your needs. Student s complete two, nationally recognised Open College Network (OCN) qualifications in An Introduction to the Professional Football Industry and Introduction to Coaching. Suitable for Level 1 and those at risk of disengagement from mainstream education. Additional OCN units in First Aid, StreetDance, I.T. and Fitness can be added as required. Radiowaves - Supporter to Reporter (S2R) Four days years N/A 100 Varies A four day course that focuses on students learning the basics of sports per student journalism and interviewing techniques. Students will create reports on a number of sports events such as Leyton Orient home matches, create a radio pod cast and blog entries on a national website. The aim is to improve communication skills and raise self esteem amongst young people. In the past this programme has seen students visit Wembley for England and attend the ICC World Twenty20 Cricket World Cup *All timings can be adapted to suit your needs. (full day-30 max) Health & Fitness Leyton Orient FC Ground Tour 2 hours (half day)/ 8-13 years 30 (max) 125 A half day session that combines a ground tour with health activities related to sport, 1 day (half day-30 max) finished off with a practical sports session at SCORE under the supervision of LOCSP 250 coaches. Students will also get the chance to complete a fitness profile by participating (full day-30 max) in a series of tests that measure flexibility, speed, strength and agility if the school requires a full day. Sport and Business Tour 2 hours 12+ years 30 (max) 125 Your students will get the opportunity to look behind-the-scenes at a professional (for group of 30) football club and sports and community centre to gain an understanding of the key issues in running these businesses. Areas discussed will include the funding of the industry, media relationships, club organisation and stadium maintenance. An ideal course for students studying Business Studies, PE, Leisure and Tourism. Olympic Stadium Activity 2 hours 8-13 years 30 max 150 A half day session that combines a stadium tour and Design an Olympic Stadium activity with a practical session in one of the Olympic sports. In conjunction with Leyton Orient FC we are also able to organise player visits and appearances, mascot appearances from Theo, pitch presentations, ticket giveaways.
