1 Appendix 1: Main Areas of Activity & Achievements: Activity Description Cost Outputs/Outcomes Progress Update BVSC Regeneration 10,000 from AoO 11 small groups to have Officer increased capacity To support local voluntary and community groups and the community forums (e.g. support with policies, procedures, training and funding advice) Match funding from National Lottery 18 larger organisations involved in regeneration activities 60 smaller groups involved in regeneration activities Increased confidence for Community Forum representatives following training 70 groups worked with since start of project. Work done with them ranges from setting up, constitutions, policies, going for funding, business plans, charity status training, etc.. Forum of Forums - running this quarterly meeting for the forums in the borough. LEAD, London East Action for Development - capacity building project funded by LSC to develop groups in Bexley to become training providers. Need assessments, training and consultancy based on identified needs, each group has different requirements. Training, publicising training also identifying groups needs and keeping them informed
2 about training opportunities both within Bexley and across other boroughs. Bexley Regeneration Network, running quarterly meetings to inform groups about relevant issues, strategies and consultations etc. Community Leadership Course Bexley Accessible Transport Scheme Bexley SNAP To support the delivery of Community Leadership courses to develop the skills of community leaders in AoO areas To support the delivery of Community Transport Scheme through the purchase of CT2000 Software Employment of an Information and Outreach Development Worker to develop Mix of funding from AoO and Lifelong Learning. No. of people completing training courses. 3,525 No. of organisations benefiting 47,583 No. of families with a disabled child benefiting Workforce development - working to map employees/trustees/volunteers qualifications/ training needs to better inform provision. 3 courses have been delivered to date. 43 people have completed training. 62 organisations have benefited from the scheme to date. 32 Thamesmead families with 37 children identified. Additional 3 families with 3

Scheme publicity has commenced to recruit 5 Community Volunteers. Anticipate that the scheme will reach a minimum of 30 families and 90 children. Negotiation of SLA being concluded. Bexley Care Trust progressing recruitment of a Physical Activity Coordinator.
4 Establish older people s activity programme programme, who participate in a minimum of 2 hrs PE and after school sport Construction Skills Training in partnership with Employment Focus Traveller Education Project To provide 40 construction training places to residents from vulnerable groups living in Bexley, Greenwich and Lewisham as part of a Job Centre Plus Contract Literacy and numeracy training for traveller community at Powerscroft Road site in Sidcup AoO have helped broker local engagement AoO - 6, schools in AoO areas supported to fastrack their ability to achieve healthy schools status. 30 adults trained to take part in new physical activity and health initiatives. No. of people receiving construction skills certification (CITB Certificate and CS Card) No. of people receiving employment advice and training. No. of people completing training course Local employment workshop being held on 23 rd February at Belvedere Community Centre A minimum of 10 students are expected to complete the course. Debt Advice Service To provide a Borough- AoO - 34,464 Increase in the amount Debt Advice Worker
5 wide Debt Advice Service targeted in AoO areas Other sources - 30,000 of unclaimed benefit recovered following debt counselling commenced in post in January To date figures are as follows: No. of client contacts No. of new debts and total owed No. of financial statements prepared No. of cases resulting in a successful outcome Total amount of debt 1,031, Client Contacts 35 Appointments 16 Financial statements prepared 14 benefit checks completed 4 representations at court 3 evictions prevented Service is being publicised and links are being made with relevant local organisations. A meeting of key referral agencies is being held in February Youth Service Enhancement Enhancement of youth provision via the youth service AoO: 236,707 Contact/reach 25% of young people in each area. 15% of the 25% participating in youth activities. Delivery of additional youth work sessions and activities in AoO areas. This includes: (i) Sessional work in Thamesmead and Slade Green; (ii) Support for a music and media project at the Southlake
6 60% of the 15% gaining a recorded outcome. Football Coaching Programme To provide a football coaching programme for young people in Thamesmead over the Easter, Whitsun and Summer holidays 30% of the 15% gaining an accredited outcome. Centre; (iii) Street Outreach Work; (iv) Bexley Youth Council; (v) What s On Directory of Services; (vi) Archway Motorbike Project; (vii) Street Football Project. AoO - 50, nights of coaching delivered to over 90 local Thamesmead young people per night (3,150 children). Healthy living workshops were included over 6 weeks. Linking in and supporting delivery of Football Ball Court League in Thamesmead. 2 Thamesmead Street leagues held engaging over 60 young people (14-19yrs) Volunteer Outreach Worker Volunteer Centre Bexley To support volunteering by raising the awareness of volunteering, signposting volunteers to volunteering AoO - 50,000 No. of volunteers advised No. of groups supported 15 groups supported 40 potential volunteers advised/ signposted to volunteer opportunities some of whom have already started

Northumberland Heath Neighbourhood Worker Dedicated Neighbourhood Worker support provided to Northumberland Heath Forum SRB - 17,634 Bexley Council - 11,450 Community time - 30, jobs created 5 young people benefiting from personal /social development 110 local businesses advised 3 community groups supported 5 individuals involved in voluntary work 3 capacity building initiatives carried out Links developed with partnership agencies 2,000 leaflets produced and distributed to promote Northumberland Heath Community Forum. 400 people have so far attended Forum meetings leading to greater community involvement and increased potential for activity. Engagement is developing with existing businesses, identifying common issues and promoting joint initiatives. 105 businesses have been contacted on a regular basis. 5 consultation initiatives have been held with a total of 670 respondents.
8 45 contacts already made via local library. Neighbourhood Worker has now commenced a surgery in local library on Wednesdays from 8 February. Participation in Police consultative meetings, problem solving partnerships, local surgeries and walkabouts. 6 meetings held with an average of 20 people and 4 small group meetings with approx. 3 people. Participation in Youth Strategy Meetings at Connexions, the Forum s Youth Sub Group and interagency initiatives to address youth disorder and youth provision. 10 meetings of 15 people and 9 smaller discussions with approx. 4 people. Mapping Northumberland Heath to identify existing provision and community activity. 195 agencies and individuals surveyed.
9 Supported business planning for the Forum. 5 meetings of 25 people and 4 small groups of 5. 4,000 copies of community newsletter produced involving a group of 5 volunteers. Crayford Neighbourhood Worker Dedicated Neighbourhood Worker support provided to Crayford Community & Business Forum SRB - 20, /06 SRB - 20, /07 Community time - 33,000 per year 0.9 jobs created 8 voluntary/community groups supported 3 new volunteers recruited 1 capacity building initiative completed 200 local people surveyed or engaged in consultation meetings on traffic and transport issues. Contacts established with local Forum, Council staff and partners. 30 Forum members. Regular support to Forum Sub-Groups. 4 public meetings held per year. Crayford Fun Day held June Attended by approx. 1,800 people. Multicultural Showcase held Crayford Town Hall in December Attended by approx. 300 people. Senior Citizens Christmas Party held December 2005.
10 Attended by approx. 100 people. Supported Forum with business planning. 1 business plan produced. Supporting engagement with young people. Proposals for a Youth Forum being developed in partnership with Youth Service. Assisted publication and distribution of Forum newsletters to 4,500 residents. 2 produced so far. Youth questionnaire circulated to 800 young people with response rate of 181. Public meeting held on flood risk in Crayford. 3 meetings held to discuss updating of the Cray website.
