1 TCB PLAYER AND PROGRAM WIDE FUNDRAISING Below are just a few options and opportunities that TCB offers to help in a players fundraising. Suggestion #1: TCB Sample Letter: This sample letter can either be used or recreated to solicit donations from businesses. If you use this sample letter, please do not sign Dan Kennedy s name. If you recreate a letter with your own name and leave everything else the same, go ahead and use it right away. If there are any significant changes made to it, please it to Diane Fox. TCB Supporters and Program Advertisers: This page should be given along with the above TCB Sample letter to the businesses when asking for donations. Make 2 copies of it, give one to the business as a receipt and keep the other one for your records. DO NOT TURN THIS PAGE IN TO TCB. This page also lists the general ideas for the various levels of donation, however you can modify it as you see fit. TCB Supporters: Please list any businesses and/or personal supporters who have contributed to your fundraising. They are listed in the beginning of the player program book. Please turn them into TCB by July 31st. Please make sure to include player name and team/age. Program Advertising: This sheet is used to set up your advertisements for the businesses and/or people that donated as advertisers. We can take information off business cards, but would prefer you to write in exactly what you want. All advertising art work will be printed black and white. Contribution to Players Fundraising: 100% donations received Suggestion #2: Scrip Gift Cards: Scrip is a popular fundraiser in which families can buy gift cards from leading retailers. All gift cards are purchased at face value and are worth the face value. Fundraising amounts will vary as each retailer gives between a 2% and 12% kick back directly to each family. Contribution to Players Fundraising: Depends on retailer Suggestion #3: Airline Raffle Tickets: Sell raffle tickets to friends, family and co-workers for $2. 100% of the sales go towards your sons tuition. You can pick up the tickets at the CT Baseball Academy in East Hartford. Contribution to Players Fundraising: 100% of tickets sold Suggestion #4: Calendar Raffle: To participate in this fundraiser you donate a prize of at least a value. You are then given tickets to sell of which you keep 100% of your ticket sales. Beginning on the specified date a name is drawn from all tickets sold and they win that days prize. Contribution to Players Fundraising: 100% of tickets sold Suggestion #5: Casino Bus Trip: (March 19 th, 2016) Last years trip was a huge success. We had families raise as much as ½ of their sons entire tuition. You will receive food and gambling vouchers on the bus to use at the casino. Contribution to Players Fundraising: TBD after bus cost is established (approx. $20.00 out of every ticket is credited) Suggestion #6: Spaghetti Dinner: Sell spaghetti dinner tickets to friends, family and co-workers for $15 each. Each player is allocated 5 tickets for a total of $75 that will 100% go towards the players tuition. Note: You must have a ticket to be served your spaghetti dinner. 2 Dear Sir or Madam: The TCB Amateur Baseball Club is busy preparing for the upcoming season. We are very proud of the ballplayers who make up TCB and are equally proud of our sponsors for without them there is no TCB Baseball. We would like to add you to our list of sponsors. The organization of this team is a massive undertaking. We maintain an annual budget of approximately $40,000 per team to cover the expenses related to the operation of this Connecticut based program. The funds are used for operational expenses such as equipment, uniforms, lodging, and transportation. Please take a few minutes to look over the enclosed sponsor sheet. The generosity of our sponsors will enable the boys to have an opportunity to represent Connecticut in the National Championships held at various locations throughout the United States. Size and cost of the ad is at the discretion of each player. We have given donation amount suggestions on the Program Advertisement Worksheet. 6 What is SCRIP? Scrip is a term that means substitute money. When you purchase scrip, you are purchasing negotiable gift certificates and pre paid cards that are used just like cash, the same gift certificates and gift cards that would be purchased at any retailer. You can use scrip also as birthday or holiday gifts, or to purchase everyday expenses like food, clothing, gas, and other essentials. You pay the face value, you receive the face value, then a small % is earned for your son's tuition. How scrip generates revenue for your son's tuition The Great Lakes SCRIP Center acts on behalf of churches, sports and youth groups, schools, and other non-profit organizations to purchase large amounts of scrip (gift certificates and gift cards) from grocery stores, department stores, and other retailers. Because the scrip is bought with cash upfront by The Great Lakes SCRIP Center, the retailers offer a substantial discount. Those discounts are passed on to you through your non-profit organization when you buy the scrip at full face value. Bottom Line, You buy a gift Card for $25(example) and you get a gift card for full value of $25.. the retailer gives TCB families anywhere between 1% to 12% of your purchase depending on the retailer. Scrip is shopping cart fundraising Scrip is a popular fundraiser because families don t have to sell anything. Families can buy scrip rather than going to the grocery store and paying cash, scrip is cash. Rather than buy a gift that you are not sure of, give a gift card to that special someone so they can buy exactly what they want. Shopping Cart Fundraising is simple... Purchases you would make anyway, including groceries, gas, coffee and other every day items can now be made with the gift cards you buy from Scrips. What are they Saying I bought $450 in Stop and Shop gift cards for the month, which is what I would spend on food anyway. I spent another $150 on gas gift cards. The only difference is now my son will get $48 towards his tuition, which is basically free money. Find Out More Log onto for the latest participating retailer list. Then put your shopping dollars to work for your son. TCB will place one organizational order every month, starting December 11 th. This way we are sure that orders are received for the holidays. If you plan on doing holiday shopping, don t pay with cash, pay with gift cards. The only difference is that a % goes directly to your sons' tuition. When paying with cash, 100% of your money goes straight to the retailer. In this tough economy, we realize it is harder and harder to pay for tuition. TCB has started a program that will directly benefit your child and the best part is, you re selling what people are already buying on a daily basis. 7 CALENDAR FUNDRAISER This fundraiser can be extremely profitable for each player. Depending on the # of families participating, we could have 1, 2, or even 3 months worth of raffle items. Each day of the month has a prize that will be raffled off. Each prize will have a minimum value of $ Every raffle ticket holder has a chance to win every day even if they have won on a previous day as all winning raffle tickets will be re-entered into the raffle pool. Players wishing to participate will need to donate a gift with a minimum value of $ Please note, although a calendar worth of $25 gifts would be attractive, any gifts with a higher value will make your raffle ticket sales more appealing. Typical donated gifts include gift cards, cash, movie tickets, merchandise, products for services, etc. Once a player donates his raffle prize, that player will receive 50 raffle tickets to sell. Additional raffle tickets are available upon request. In order to keep the integrity of the raffle, everyone must sell the tickets for the same price which is $10.00ea. or 3 for $20. Like all TCB fundraisers, 100% of your raffle ticket sales will go towards your tuition For those of you wishing to participate we will need the prize donations by January 10th, Once you hand in your donation you will receive your raffle tickets. A completed calendar of prizes will be available online. All tickets sold need to be returned by 5 p.m. the night before the next days raffle begins.
