1 Parameterizing field devices 1.1 Introduction to PDM What is PDM? SIMATIC PDM is a software package for configuring, parameterizing, commissioning, diagnostics and maintenance of devices (e.g. measurement transducers). SIMATIC PDM provides monitoring of process values, alarms and diagnostics, and the capability of exporting status information for a device. SIMATIC PDM is an open tool for devices from an enormous range of manufacturers. Over 1000 devices from more than 100 manufacturers have been integrated already. The basis for device integration is EDDL (Electronic Device Description Language). The EDD (Electronic Device Description) is created by the device manufacturer or a service provider. It is shipped together with the device on a data carrier and / or made available for download from the Internet by the manufacturer What can PDM do? SIMATIC PDM provides the framework for device handling, i.e. PDM contains for instance the interfaces for communicating with the various connection modes such as Profibus DP/PA; SIPART- Network; SIREC Network; HART via Multiplexer, Modem, Interface. The content of this framework, the options that are offered for diagnosis and adjusting a device, are determined solely by the manufacturer s EDD Options, HW/SW requirements Options for SIMATIC PDM You can purchase the following options for SIMATIC PDM: Option Integration in STEP 7 / PCS 7 Routing via S7 stations HART multiplexer Explanation This option is essential if integration is used by PDM in HW Config. (recommended) Parameterize, diagnose all devices of a project from a centralized location. (recommended) Communication via standard HART multiplexer

Therefore, current Windows DLLs from the OLE (Object Linking and Embedding) are also a prerequisite! Under MS Windows 95, current DLL files are also installed when the current version of Internet Explorer (V5.5 and above) is installed (Internet Explorer can be purchased from Microsoft online). Internet Explorer must be installed in a typical installation. With MS Windows 98, it may be assumed that the DLLs are current. Note:

For more detailed, up-to-date information on system requirements, please read the "ReadMe" file on your PDM program CD or in your PDM Installation...\Siemens\PDM\Sim_PDM.

1.1.4 Installing PDM Note In this training manual, PDM is dealt with only in conjunction with PCS7. If you want to run PDM as a stand-alone version, please read the information on this subject in the ReadMe file and in the PDM Manual. Installation may be carried out very easily from the Setup screen. The Setup program normally starts automatically when the CD is inserted. However, you can also start SetUp.Exe on the CD manually. When the Setup program has started, a box appears for you to choose the Setup language. You select the Setup Language h Select the corresponding option and then click Next. In this box you select the drive on which PDM is to be installed. By default, the setup wizard suggests drive..c:\.... You should always select the drive on which PCS7 is installed. After making your selection, click "Next.

When you have specified the destination drive, Setup offers you the opportunity to read the ReadMe file. You should read the ReadMe very carefully. Then click "Next ". Note The ReadMe files contain special installation features, known bugs and other helpful information. They also contain the Technical Support address for the event that you should ever need support. Here you specify the languages in which Simatec PDM is to be installed. You can decide later the language in which Simatic PDM will open You must select at least one language When you have made your selection, click Next Before PDM is finally installed then, you must select which components you want to install. If you are integrating into PCS 7 or STEP7, you do not need to install SIMATIC Manager or AuthorsW they are already present. However, you do need these components for the "stand-alone version of Simatic PDM. If there are no HART components in your project, you can also skip the HART OPC Server and the HCF Library. The HART OPC Server is necessary for communicating with HART devices via HART multiplexers. The HCF Library contains the DDs for the currently supported HART field devices Click "Next" to begin installation. When Setup is complete, you should restart your computer. Simatic PDM is then installed and ready to run on your computer.

1.1.5 The new views When Simatic PDM is installed, a few extra functions are automatically added to Simatic Manager. Simatic PDM installs: Process Device Network View Process Device Plant View Extension of DP / PA field devices for the device catalog in HW Config The DPPA example project The following is just a very short introduction to the "New" views. Process Device Network View In the Process Device Network View the devices are shown in groups according to the network topology. Devices which can be reached through several networks are shown several times accordingly. You can configure networks and devices in this view. The devices are sorted by network Process Device Plant View The Process Device Plant View gives an overview of all configured devices in all configured networks. This view is used to obtain a quick overview of the configured devices. New networks cannot be configured in this view. All the devices in the project are displayed with device status / Info New devices which have been added in the process device network view and in HW-Config are automatically shown in the Process device plant view. Note: If a device is deleted in the network view or the HW-Config, it will still be in the system view. It could of course still be accessible via a different network or be assigned to a network in the network view or HW-Config later. In the Process Device Plant View you can also add devices which you can assign to a network at a later date.

1.1.6 Standard and integrated versions Integrated version: With the "Integration in STEP 7/PCS 7 option, SIMATIC PDM is based on the SIMATIC STEP 7 or SIMATIC PCS 7 software package and is permanently integrated in the existing installation as an optional package. This option also allows the configuration of PROFIBUS- DP/PA networks and devices with the aid of STEP 7 HW-Config. The combination of SIMATIC PDM and the "Integration in STEP 7/PCS 7 option is referred to below as SIMATIC PDM Integrated. The crucial advantage of PDM integrated over PDM standard is that dataset routing can be used from "HW Config" without any additional parameterization effort. Every field device that is capable of communication, such as HART-, Profibus DP and Profibus PA devices, can thus be parameterized and diagnosed from a central location. The precondition for this is that the devices must have a DD (Device Description), and must be connected via a CP that is capable of routing datasets (e.g. CP ext). Standard Version: The standard version or stand-alone version of SIMATIC PDM differs from the SIMATIC PDM integrated version only in the configuration feature. The presentation of device parameters and functions is standardized for all supported process devices and independent of its communication connection, e.g. via PROFIBUS-DP, PROFIBUS-PA or HART protocol In the standard version, the devices are configured in the "Process device network view" and the PG/PC is connected with e.g. CP 5611directly to the bus on which the device to be parameterized is located. Direct communication via HART modem, HART multiplexer or in SIPART networks etc. is also possible.

1.1.7 Routing S7 Routing In most automation plants, the programming device can only be operated via the bus cable (subnet) that is connected directly to the automation system. In larger networked plants, this means that the programming device must be connected to various bus cables (subnets) before a remote automation system / field device can be reached online. With the routing function you can reach automation systems online with PG/PC or ES across subnet boundaries, for example in order to load user programs or a hardware configuration, or to perform test functions. The "PG-Routing" functionality enables automation devices to be reached across various subnets from a fixed location in the system without the need to reconnect to a different bus connection. For this purpose, special "routing tables" are generated automatically for network transitions during network configuration with STEP 7. These routing tables are special system data and must be loaded onto the individual network transitions, i.e. S7-CPUs and CPs. Then, as the programming device goes online, the path to the selected automation device can be found across the network transitions. The transition from one subnet to one or more other subnet resides in a SIMATIC station, which has interfaces with the subnets in question. Requirements STEP 7, Version 5 and higher and SIMATIC PDM (i.e. you must be working with SIMATIC PDM integrated). The communication capable modules (CPUs or CPs) that are designed to assure the network transitions between the subnets must be "routing-capable". All automation devices and communication partners in a system network musty be configured and loaded in an S7-Project. The desired S7 station is networked and can indeed be reached across the network transitions. The modules must be loaded with the configuration information that includes the current state of "knowledge" of the entire network configuration of the project. Reason: All modules associated with the network transition must receive information about which subnets can be reached, and via what paths (routing tables). The PG/PC with which you want to establish an online connection across a network transition must be configured in the network configuration and assigned to your creation system.

Dateset routing with PDM With PDM Routing it is possible to communicate will all field devices in a project, in order to maintain them, run diagnostics and parameterize them, from a central location (HW Config of ES). The following are required: PDM integrated is used, i.e. with PCS 7 or Step 7 The devices to parameterize must be networked with the ES (e.g. via CPs, subsystems and network transitions) Network components must be "routing"-capable. (CP ext) Access to field devices by double-clicking on the device in HW Config Difference between S7 routing and dataset routing: S7 Routing is the transmission of data beyond the boundaries of the local network. IN this way, you can send information from a sender to a recipient across a number of networks. For this, you require special device technology, which provides this functionality Dataset routing is a development of "normal" S7 routing and is used exclusively by SIMATIC PDM. Unlike S7 routing, however, the internal PROFIBUS-DP interface of the CPU is not suitable for dataset routing. However, you can use external communication processors (e.g. CP EXT or CP 5611). The data that is sent with dataset routing contains device-specific information (e.g. setpoints, limit values, or similar) in addition to the parameterization for the associated communication devices. In dataset routing, the structure of the target address depends on the data content, i.e. on the device for which the data is destined. The field devices themselves do not have to be able to support dataset routing, since these devices do not transfer the information they receive.

The PDM Routing path Dataset routing via the system bus takes place across the Industrial Ethernet from the ES via CP1613 to AS with CP EX11 from here via Profibus CP ext DX03 (currently the only access to Profibus that is also capable of dataset routing) to: 1. DP/PA-Link for onward routing via Profibus PA to the PA device 2. A Profibus DP device directly (e.g. SIMOCODE) 3. A remote I/O (ET200M; ET200iS) with e.g. HART field devices. 1. ) 2. ) 3. ) PDM Parameterizing across network boundaries This means: A second person is not required for commissioning with wireless device Sensor coordination from central location Diagnosis from central location Improved response time in the event of malfunctions Reduction in lifecycle costs

The interface across which routing is to take place must be set up in Object properties of the PG/PC station. Routing configuration Set up interface Select assignment Routing configuration make assignment

Activate S7 Online Access Routing configuration for S7 Activate online access Monitoring in NETPRO Access path is shown in yellow Routing configuration Check access path in NETPRO In HW Config activate the field device by double clicking, the PDM window opens automatically. The field device can now request current measurement values and parameter set UP- and DOWN-loads can now be carried out.

Specify access point with PCS 7 V6 A new method of reaching the field devices has been added to those familiar from PDM V5.2. It is now possible to use APC (Advanced PC). Your PC is now set up for Routing: Add a PC station to your project Open: Set up PC station in SimaticNET and set the operating mode of your Cp s module (CP1613) to:

Open the Component Configurator and make sure that the station name is the same as the name of your PC station! (= computer name) If necessary, change it in Simatic Manager If you have not done so, attach your CP -> here CP1613 Don t forget the index! See next figure Open the Configuration for the PC station and enter your CP here as well Make sure the installation location is correct -> here 3

Set the PG/PC interface to: PC internal (local) You can also do this under Access point in PC station DONE Check: Your PC station must have a yellow arrow in Simatic Manager if F5 Activate the field device by double-clicking in HW Config, the PDM window opens automatically. The field device can now requrest the current measurement values and parameter sets can be uploaded and downloaded.

1.2 Field device parameterization / diagnosis with PDM The main PDM window The "SIMATIC PDM" main window remains on the screen throughout the complete working session, and is partially or completely covered by other activated dialog windows. The main window consists of o Title bar o Menu bar o Toolbar o Parameter group list (at the left of the working window) o Parameter table (at the right of the working window) o Status line Parameter group overview Parameter table Title bar Menu bar Toolbar

1.2.2 Parameter group overview The parameter group overview is displayed in the left part of the main window. Here the objects and their parameter groups are displayed together with any subordinate objects. The selected group (only one possible at a time) is displayed with a blue background. The parameters belonging to the selected group are now displayed in the parameter table. If the subitems entry is switched on in the Extras menu, the subgroups are also visible with their parameters. If a value has been changed in the parameter table, the color of the corresponding folder symbol changes from yellow to blue. In addition, the main directory symbol (first line of the parameter group overview) is now also displayed in blue. If the modified value is invalid, the color of the corresponding directory symbols change to red. Note In order to improve performance in the refreshing the screen display, we recommend that in the parameter group overview you select only the parameter group whose parameters you wish to edit. The parameter group overview

1.2.3 Parameter table The right-hand part of the main window is populated from the parameter table. This parameter table lists the individual parameter groups in succession (as listed in the parameter group overview). A hierarchy as in the parameter group overview is not displayed here. If you click a parameter group in the parameter group overview, the group is displayed in the parameter table. If the line Subitems line has been activated in the Extras menu, all subgroups of the selected parameter group are also displayed. If the line is inactive, only the parameters of the selected group are displayed. Each parameter group commences with a heading with the name of the group on a colored background. The special characters preceding the heading text indicate the level of the heading. The individual parameter lines are positioned underneath the heading. A field on a white background can be edited, the other fields cannot. The number of parameters which can be edited depends on the selected status (maintenance engineer/specialist) and possibly on parameter values. The parameter table is divided into the following columns: o Parameter o Value o Unit o Status "initial") (Parameter to be set) (Value of the parameter) (Unit of the value) (Statement indicating whether the values are "loaded", "changed" or If the table is longer than the visible screen area, a scroll bar is displayed at the right edge. Note For better performance when refreshing screen the display, we recommend that in the parameter group overview you select only the parameter group whose parameters you want to edit.

The parameter table

1.2.4 The measurement value display For a quick check of the measurement value, the device s measurement value can be displayed rapidly in PDM. At the same time diagnostic messages are displayed by the intelligent field device. Performance: In the PDM Main View, click on the Display measurement values symbol The measurement value and the diagnosis is shown here

1.2.5 Diagnostic Symbols for Devices The following table explains the symbols of the devices configured in SIMATIC PDM. The full range is not supported by all devices. The symbols are displayed in the network and system views of SIMATIC Manager, in SIMATIC PDM and in LifeList. Diagnosis status is calculated for every communication between PDM and the device and stored in the project These symbols can also be seen in PDM (Parameter group overview)

1.2.6 Simulation Many intelligent field devices offer the capability of simulating their output or measurement values. With PDM, this option of the field devices can be implemented easily, thus making it possible to create a kind of loop check without a calibrator. For diagnosis at the device, as is shown here with the example of the SITRANS T3K temperature measurement transducer, both the output value and the measurement value at the sensor are simulated. Performance: In PDM: Device > Simulation > Temperature (Device-dependent!) Adjust and transmit Output value + Status here The output value is simulated for example when a communication error is suspected. On the other hand, if you wish to check that the measurement recorded by the sensor is being transmitted correctly by the device, it is possible (SITRANS T3K) to simulate the measurement value at the sensor here and thus monitor the device s output amplifier. Adjust and transmit Measurement value + Status h

1.2.7 Settings in the main view: With the Options > Settings menu command, you can customize a range of settings for working with SIMATIC PDM: o User (access authorization) o Password o Table Options o Font o Communication Options o Log tool Setting the User SIMATIC PDM recognizes two different access authorizations for users: o Maintenance and o Specialist The maintenance engineer can only modify operational data, the specialist can modify all data, and therefore a password can be assigned to the "Specialist" user. An "empty" password is defaulted after installation (there is therefore no formal password). The specialist should create a password for security reasons. o Maintenance engineer In "Maintenance engineer" mode, the only changes that can be made to the parameter table are those necessary for operation and maintenance. o Specialist If a password has been defined in the "Settings" dialog, when the "Specialist" option field is selected in the "User" display that appears when the application is started, the

. current password must be entered. The extended modification possibilities are now available for the specialist in the parameter table.

Table Options SIMATIC PDM shows all the device parameters clearly arranged in a table. The behavior after an input and the layout in the display and printout can be set here. Settings for how data is updated in the Main Layout settings Online dialog: If this checkbox is activated, individual data items can be changed on the device online Time saving! because the entire dataset for the device does not need to Log SIMATIC PDM offers an integrated log tool. You can activate it and determine which log messages are to be output. If the log tool is activated, a window with the important messages appears when SIMATIC PDM is running. These messages can be printed and saved. The log is useful for troubleshooting in the event of communications problems with the device. Messages are weighted according to their importance and the following categories are used: o Errors o Warnings o Communication log o Details o All messages

1.3 Practical examples Assigning a Profibus address (Device menu) In the current SIMATIC PDM version, addresses can only be allocated for PROFIBUS DP/PA devices. To change the PROFIBUS address of a device, select the menu command Device > Allocate address in SIMATIC PDM. The "Allocate address" dialog box is opened, where you can enter the old and new device addresses. Once you have confirmed your entries with "OK", SIMATIC PDM attempts to carry out the address allocation. Depending on the network settings, this process can take some time. After the address has been successfully assigned, the dialog box is closed. You should also observe the following notes and restrictions: You can change not only the address of the device you used to start SIMATIC PDM, but also the address of each device connected to the same sub-network as the current device. You cannot use SIMATIC PDM to change the address of a device connected to a different sub-network than the device you used to start SIMATIC PDM. The PROFIBUS standard DIN 19245, Section 3 does not allow the address of a PROFIBUS device to be changed to address 126. In contrast to process device network view, it is not possible to configure a device with address 126 on a PROFIBUS DP network in HW Config. You should therefore configure your devices with the intended destination addresses. During commissioning, you should allocate the correct destination addresses for each device in turn. Writes to the device immediately Assign address is pressed Loss of connection after transmission is normal! Since the slave dd l PDM checks whether the new address already exists on the bus. If it does exist, the new address will not be assigned! Only addresses < 126 can be assigned! Factory settings can be restored with the menu command Device > Reset The function name may differ from device to device!

Whether or not you can change the address of a device using the menu command Device > Allocate address depends on the device. For some devices, e.g. SIPART DR compact controllers, this is not permissible and the menu command Device > Allocate address is not available to you on these devices. The error message "State conflict" indicates that the address of a PROFIBUS device can only be changed on the hardware, not using software. For Simocode, instead of the menu command Device > Allocate address, you should use the command Device > PROFIBUS DP Parameters. Writes to the device immediately Transmit is pressed! Loss of connection after transmission is normal! Since the slave address no longer matches the Loopcheck With intelligent field devices, the loopcheck is considerably simplified, since the devices themselves can simulate the measurement and output value, and its status. If in addition a field bus like Profibus PA is used, it is possible in a 1 st step to quickly check with LifeList (PDM Tool) whether the devices are recognized on the bus with the correct address and type. LifeList is located in the START menu under: SIMATIC > STEP 7 > Or in the SIMATIC Manager in the "SIMATIC PDM" menu

View of LifeList with device diagnosis

In a 2 nd step, the outputs from the individual devices are simulated on the bus:... Set Value and Status here -> Transmit Siemens temperature measurement transducer - "SITRANS T3K"... and checks the online values and the status on the driver module in parallel in the corresponding CFC plan. In test mode, the value (here 2000) and the status (here 80 = OK) can be checked If values outside the configured limits, or for example a device error, are simulated, the corresponding error messages can be monitored in the OS. In this way, the loopcheck can be monitored from the ES station by just one person. Compared with the conventional method of running a loopcheck, this method provides significant time advantages for the deployment of intelligent field devices on the field bus with PDM.

1.3.3 Comparison of Values With the "Value comparison" option it is possible to check the online data in the device for changes. It is recommended to compare the on and offline data before changing the parameterization of a device that is involved in the production process. In this way, it is possible to determine whether any data that has been adjusted on-site is being overwritten inadvertently by offline data. Performance: In PDM File > Value comparison Make appropriate settings here specifying that: the offline data is to be compared with the online data for the same device Or the offline data is to be compared with the offline data of another device Or the offline data is to be compared with the online data of another device. Offline data Online data

Difference are highlighted in yellow

1.3.4 Parameterizing an ET200is Station with PDM Insert an ET200is sation in HW Config Double click on the ET200is icon to open up the PDM dialog Now drag the required modules into the corresponding fields Here, you can allocate the head station a unique name

Open PDM as a "Special list". In this view, you can edit the head station and each module. Note: New modules are initialized for the first time from here (load module to device) When uploading the head station (loading to peripheral/pc) you can now choose between: Load station only Load station + modules Load station + modules +

Diagnostics for the status of the loading operation can now also be read in "Routing".... After loading: The icons in front of the modules and the head module provide information about the status of communication. The position of the modules in the tree (left) does not necessarily correspond to reality! However, the correct sequence of the modules can be read in the grid (right).

1.3.5 Connecting HART Devices to ET200is with PDM After the head station and its modules have been read back, and all modules therefore have a green symbol, highlight a remote I/O channel for a HART module. Here: Module: 2AI 2Wire HART Procedure: "Right click" on "Channel 0" of the module and select "Insert new object" You can give a field device a unique name here. or You can also select an existing unlinked object from system view

A placeholder HART device is now inserted on the remote I/O channel of the HART module. Double click on the placeholder (gray symbol) the Device selection window opens. Select the device you want to connect here. Fully-integrated devices can be found under actuators, sensors etc. Others are in the HCF list. Here: SITRANS TK H R 2 Double clicking on the field device opens up the grid for the corresponding device from the ET200is tree! The device can now be edited in the normal way.

1.3.6 Swapping the device description (DD) of a configured field device If a different device description (DD) has to be assigned to a field device that has already been configured, this can be done easily with PDM in the "Process devices system view". A swap of such kind may be necessitated by: Incorrect DD selected for the device Wrong device version assigned Replacing generic DD with manufacturer-specific DD (HART) Replacing Profile DD with manufacturer-specific DD (Profibus PA) Performance: Example: SITRANS T3K (Profibus PA), the Profile 3 DD for temperature measurement transducer is to be assigned instead of the manufacturer-specific DD. In Process devices system view, mark the device with the right mouse button and choose SIMATI PDM > Devices selection (Re- In the selection dialog, mark the desired DD and confirm with OK Here: If PDM is now opened for this device, the Profile DD is displayed instead of the manufacturer-specific DD.

1.4 Field device parameterization / diagnosis without software such as PDM Parametrieren: Simple 4 to 20mA devices, do often have the possibility to set up the device parameters via Dip-switches or via an device-menu. If the device doesn t have an possibility to set up the parameters at the device, you will have to parameterize the I/O cards of your Remote I/O( e.g.: ET200M HART AI ) to fit the device to the system. The I/O cards are parameterized in the HW-Config with an doppel Click on the card Enable of interrupts: e.g.: Hardware interrupt when limit exceeded Measuring Type: e.g.: 2DMU/ 4DMU / HART Measuring Range: e.g.: mA; mA Limits of Hardware Interrupt Diagnostic: Without an software like PDM, the diagnostic reduces to the following diagnostic states: Device O.K. Device error Device not present Out of range Communication error Wire break Short circuit This information you can get from the Online-View of HW-Config, the Status of the driver blocks or /and at the device via e.g.: device-menu or LEDs. Note: This diagnostic states depend on the used device!
