2 Danone Context Context Due to increasing concerns of our consumers, shareholders and trade customers, Danone, as many other big companies, is interested to work with its suppliers on their CSR performance. To do it easier and more effectively, a group of food companies has decided to create a common suppliers data base, using Sedex platform as a support. Objectives: To improve the effectiveness and efficiency of the CSR evaluation process with the ultimate aim of raising CSR performance within the supply chain To reduce the burden of audit overload amongst suppliers.

3 2 different initiatives linked to suppliers CSR performance: RESPECT and Sedex RESPECT Sedex platform Danone internal initiative launched in 2001 with the aim to assure that all Danone suppliers respect the Fundamental Social Principles (FSP) The scope of RESPECT program includes only social issues s are audited by Intertek (external audits) or by Quality/SSD/RH (internal audits) IT Platform Danone uses together with other companies with the aim to create a unique suppliers information data base 4 pillars in the Sedex scope: Labor standards Hygiene & Security Environment Business Integrity s fill in a Self Assessment Questionnaire s external audit results can be registered on the Sedex platform and shared with other member-companies In both cases, Danone buyer: Defines the risky suppliers and decides to launch an audit Works, together with the supplier, on the corrective action plan Validates the remediation or launches follow-up audits

4 What is SEDEX? SEDEX is a provider of a web based data system where suppliers can: maintain data on CSR issues in their production sites have this data available to companies with which they have a trading relationship Key principles: owns data controls who can see the data Companies cannot view each others supply chains The first step for the suppliers is to register on the Sedex web site and to fill in the Self assessment questionnaire that concerns 10 main topics: No Forced Labour Freedom of Association Health, Safety and Hygiene No Child Labour Wages Working Hours Discrimination Regular Employment Discipline Environment

5 Sedex Registration Process Log on to 2) Click on Join now 1) Choose your language

6 Sedex Registration Process 3) Click Register Now to start your registration

7 Sedex Registration Process 4) Choose B membership (B members have the database to input data on to the system) 5) Choose the number of production sites you wish to register in Sedex. You will have to pay 28 per year per site (plus a small credit card handling charge)

8 Sedex Registration Process 6) Please ensure you fill in the address of the person undertaking this registration. All Sedex communication will be ed to this address. 7) Please choose a username. You will need this every time you log in to Sedex 8) Read the Terms and Conditions (you must open each document) Tick the box to confirm you have read them

9 Sedex Secure Payment page Worldpay calculates the payment according to the number of your production sites you wish to register Note: you receive instructions on setting your password through s

10 Sedex Secure Payment page ) Fill out the payment information. You must ensure that the Billing Address matches the address of the card you are paying with otherwise your payment cannot be processed. Once you have made payment, you will receive the following s Confirmation from Worldpay of your payment Confirmation from Sedex that your account has been set up An with details on how to set up a password

11 Complete your information Once you have registered on Sedex you can start to complete the information for your customer Go to and enter Login 1) Login 2) Enter your username and password

12 Add your production sites 3) Complete all steps in Manage and 4 5

13 Add your direct customers* 6 * Note: Direct customer: customer that you directly supply and who pays you for your goods 8 9) Choose the correct division / region for your customer 7 11) Tick the boxes to link your sites with your customers 10

14 Add your indirect customers* *Note: Indirect customer: indirect customer is supplied with your goods by your direct customer. Not all companies have an indirect customer. Your customer should let you know if you need to complete this step

15 Grant your information 15) Choose site 16) Tick the boxes to give your production site information (site details, contacts, and/or audits) to your customers Your account is now visible to your customer, they can see that you are registered and you can share your information with them.
