WELLS FARGO DONATION WELLS FARGO DONATION UPS DONATION DMACC STUDENTS TOUR THE SALISBURY HOUSE ASIAN AND PACIFIC ISLANDER NIGHT AT THE URBAN CAMPUS ANIMATION CAMP JOB OPENINGS APPLIED VOICE HONORS CONCERT DMACC President Rob Denson (second from right) accepts a $25,000 donation from Wells Fargo Great Plains Region President Don Pearson (third from left). Those participating in the check presentation include iheartmedia Account Executive Betsy Pearson, Wells Fargo Community Affairs Representative Sarabeth Anderson, Don Pearson, DMACC English Professor Dr. Eden Pearson, Evelyn K. Davis Center for Working Families Director Marvin DeJear, Denson, and Wells Fargo Manager Tony Dickinson. The money will be used to support the Summer Youth Employment Program at the Evelyn K. Davis Center and the Mark Pearson FFA Scholarship at the DMACC Foundation. Mark Pearson was a long-time farm news broadcaster. He hosted Iowa Public Television s Market to Market program for more than 20 years and was the host of WHO Radio s The Big Show. He died in 2012 at age 54. The Mark Pearson FFA Leadership Scholarship offers a full-tuition grant to those who served as president of their local Iowa FFA chapter during their senior year in high school. Students can enroll in any degree program at DMACC s six campuses or learning centers and must maintain at least a 2.5 grade point average. So far, 23 students have received Pearson FFA Scholarships through the DMACC Foundation. The Summer Youth Employment Program serves youth ages 14 to 21 and provides participating students with life skills, job training, employment experiences, career guidance, financial literacy training, and social growth opportunities while helping them become better prepared for post-secondary education and high quality employment opportunities.

Davis Center for Working Families. The funds will be used for the Summer Youth Program. DMACC STUDENTS TOUR THE SALISBURY HOUSE Salisbury House Curator and Chief Historian Dr. Megan Sibbel (right) gives a tour of the 42room Salisbury estate to a group of DMACC Urban Campus history students from Professor Matt Walsh's Western Civilization class. The Salisbury House was built from 1923 to 1928 for Carl and Edith Weeks and their four boys.

DMACC Urban Campus Accounting Professor Julie Chasse (left) visits with Bhima Dahal of West Des Moines about the DMACC Accounting curriculum at the Asian Julie Chasse and Bhima Dahal and Pacific Islander Night at DMACC. The Urban Campus hosted the event, which was sponsored by the Office of Asian and Pacific Islanders, Iowa Asian Alliance, and EMBARC (Ethnic Minorities of Burma Advocacy and Resource Center). DMACC students Trung Nguyen, originally from Vietnam; Dalia Kyi, formerly of Burma; Shyam Gajmer, originally from Nepal and J.J. Young Hu, who came to the U.S. from China; talked about their experiences as DMACC students and Trung Nguyen, Dalia Kyi, Shyam Gajmer and J.J. Young Hu the challenges of being an immigrant student during a panel discussion at the DMACC Asian and Pacific Islander Night. The free, two-and-ahalf hour event provided attendees with information about DMACC including what resources DMACC has to offer and how to enroll.

8 July 28, 2016 APPLIED VOICE HONORS CONCERT Lyra Halsten DMACC student Lyra Halsten of Des Moines sings various songs as part of her Applied Voice Honors Concert performed at the DMACC Urban Campus. Halsten has participated in Music at Noon concerts at the Urban Campus since She has appeared in Guys and Dolls, Babes in Arms, Oklahoma, The King and I, as well as in numerous industrial training films and television commercials. She is the founder of Rising Phoenix Theatre Company, where she has also had leading roles in Love Loss and What I Wore and Hillary: A Modern Greek Tragedy with a Somewhat Happy Ending.
